can't believe this is available for free on youtube!!! in the past 24 hours i think my knowledge of godot has increased tenfold from just these videos alone!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I was LITERALLY *_JUST_* crying over the fact that I caught up to the lastest episode of this tutorial series like 2-3 hours ago, then this dropped!? 😅😂 Thanks man!! I'm preparing for a game jam I plan to enter in a few weeks, and these videos are LITERAL life savers!!! 😎👍🏽❤️❤️🔥
Until just now I didn't think it was possible to cry over a game engine tutorial... man, you just explain everything so beautiully and simply, and moreover you go into detail behind the reasoning for everything you say to do, and even how to break away from it. I've been looking forward to this episode for weeks, and I'm excited for the rest of it!
This series has been exactly what I'm looking for - a mix of Blender and Godot, and you're an awesome teacher. So happy to see you putting out videos more frequently
I just got to the end of this server, and I gotta say... THANK YOU so much for helping me create something basic in Godot. I hope to use this knowledge for other projects, and maybe even make my own game! I can't wait for future uploads, I'll be sure to follow along whenever possible! Cheers!
Just started watching this series today and did not realise that it was still on going, although I guess this will be a fun chance to try learn by myself :D
I'm caught up with the series, now until the next episode drops I'm just gonna start Let's Learn Blender that is in the description!! Your vids are amazing and the way u teach makes everything so easy to understand, thank you so much ♥ ♥
Incredible tutorial series, clear, concise and very beginner friendly. I learned a lot and I really like the workflow of the project. Thank you for this. I'm looking forward to future lessons in this series.
Thanks for your amazing videos you say everything very well and always make sure that nobody makes a mistake as if you have seen multiple people who make this mistake
I'm really grateful that you're making these lessons. I was a little impatient and went on to figure out GridMaps before this lesson released, though I had a minor problem with my 3D tiles. They were using the Blender world origin as the object's origin, so when I imported them into Godot, the tiles were offset. I solved this crudely by stacking all of the tiles into each other at the world origin, before exporting the file out of Blender. I'm not sure what I did differently: I didn't move objects in Blender in edit mode, which I know would be a potential cause of this. I'm looking forward to what you have to teach next.
This is too cool!... EDIT: Omg just read others comments, also feeling like crying to this... this wonderful engine, this level edition capability, all this... damn! 💕💕💕
When I rotate the player like shown in 14:14, the camera doesn't rotate. I'm guessing it's because we set the camera controller as Top Level. Also, aren't they named kinda weird? We have the camera controller which is set to follow the player around and the camera points towards. And we have the camera target which we're using to offset and rotate the camera. To me it would be logical if the target was the one the camera pointed towards and the controller offset and rotated the camera. But maybe that just is the standard camera rig naming convention.
Hey! I love these tutorials they are the best I've seen, but I must admit it's been 10 months since the first one and the series isn't even finished. Why have they taken so long?
Hello, I just started watching this series yesterday and it's been going great. One question, not to be rude but, in the comment section of the first video you said that all 26 videos of the series were recorded, which was 8 months ago. Of course I'm sure you're probably busy with other things too but, when do you think all the videos will be out? For now, is there any resource you can redirect us to so we can continue our learning? I'd be fine with even just the title's of the next videos so I know what the topics are. Thanks
Awesome video tutorials, I like how you explain things, but i don't hear you mention when is the final video to end off things. Do you have any tutorials on Board games like Ludo that uses Dice? & How much would you charge to make a custom framework of a game or tutorial? Thanks.
I'm having an issue. When I rotate the ChracterBody3D in the level scene, the camera stays at a fixed angle and doesn't follow the rotation of the CharacterBody3D. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Excellent as always. Only issue I'm having is that my character is stopping randomly when holding a direction. Not sure if I did something wrong in the previous episodes or with the models of my mesh library.
With painting a bunch of 3D objects next to each other, that is geometry and shading not being used. Does Godot do a good job culling that out? If so then it's not a potential problem. If not, it might be better to design complex pieces for your level in blender, that can snap to each other seamlessly. That way you can model each piece optimally. I'm sure it's not a big deal, doing simple things in Godot, but if you're doing a big project, that's a different story.
Hey I messed up one of the blocks and I can't get it to sit in the middle of the grid block. Is there a way to combine multiple mesh libraries so I don't have to keep switching between the two. Plus when I switch I can't see the other mesh library and the blocks and vice versa
My BlockShort is the same size as my normal block. On Blender and the .glb file everything is fine but on the resource it is the same size. What may have I done wrong?
i had a problem where: when i enherited the scene the models were there and also the textures but the textures(placement) didn't match (it didn't recognize the uv mapping) where it was bigger in godot but normal in blender
Thank you for your work, unfortunately i have a problem with the blocks in the gridmap :( all the blocks are displayed correctly in the menu to the right of viewport, but when i'm trying to place them onto the grid they are all rotated 90 degrees on the x axis
I'm hoping that there is a way of optimising the way Godot renders these objects, as I feel that it is inefficient, and causing unnecessary use of resources. Does Godot have a way of implementing LOD, so that we could make non-beveled versions of the blocks to render at a certain distance from the camera, or to have the normal maps also not render at a certain distance? I'm also interested in backface culling and occlusion culling, but too much of a novice in Godot to do anything about it 😅
Those are interesting topics for sure. I'm guessing BornCG is leaving that stuff out because they want to keep the tutorial simple for beginners. Beginners shouldn't have to worry too much about performance at this stage. But it would be cool if they mentioned it briefly. If you open the .glb file you get when importing the 3d models of the blocks from Blender, it shows some settings for LOD also.
I'm a bit stumped. You're tutorial is excellent but I believe I've made a mistake. My world blocks file looks right in blender but when it imports into Godot, my ramp bottom looks odd and has no collision with the player object. Any insight is appreciated, and I did try to do a bit of googling but I'm stuck. Thanks for the great content!

Are you doing Pirates? I'm signed up as well, have fun it should be a blast.
@@TheMikeMassengale Nah, it's the Monkey Jam one (held by CdawgVA). But good luck on your jam too!! I hope we both crush it!! 💖👍🏽
Your the only person on TH-cam to explain how gridmaps actually work.....Thank You Colin.

500th thumbs up. Yay! 😄
Last video was almost an hour long and with parts of it sped up. We are the ones who persist. Keep it up everybody!

Amazing tutorials can't believe I can now make 3D games using Godot and Blender! Thank you so much Colin.
This video and the one previous helped get me past a blocker I had with my game. Thank you so much!
Amazing tutorial, definitely learned a lot through out the series ,looking forward for more !
Love this tutorial series you created and all the time you took to clearly show each step. Also great to get a bit of Blender knowledge along the way.
Thanks for the videos. You're making it easy for me to gain some experience after graduating.
I'm definitely going to have to go back and look at all your Blender tutorials. I hope the version difference doesn't make them too hard to follow.
Thanks for your amazing videos you say everything very well and always make sure that nobody makes a mistake as if you have seen multiple people who make this mistake
Let's GO! I've arrived to the latest lesson. The game is coming along nicely. Thank you for the tutorials 🙏
Legendary tutorial even the other guy couldn't get me to model in blender
Can't wait for the next one!! This has been a great series!
Awesome series! Very excited for more parts to come out, great work
By far my favorite lesson so far! Thank you! :)
Thanks!
Danke!
Thank you!! 🥰

Im having the same issue not sure how to fix this
Alrighty, took me most of a day, but I caught up. Now time to hurry up and wait
thanks man you made my life easier with this video👍

for some reason my camera doesnt rotate with my character any advice?
Man…it feels so longg waiting this 11…😂😂
It says that the last lesson is unavailable

I'm so lucky I found you. You taught me both Blender (briefly) and Godot. All it took was pulling an all nighter :D Do you have a Discord?
Is there a roadmap/timeline for when these will finish coming out? Amazing guides! Thanks so much

thx. :)
Whenever I import my blender glb file it loses the colors that I had in Blender. Any idea why?
i had a problem where:
when i enherited the scene the models were there and also the textures but the textures(placement) didn't match (it didn't recognize the uv mapping) where it was bigger in godot but normal in blender
i just updated godot and it got fixed
does any know how to fix the collision area my blocks arent having a collision area:(
Thank you for your work, unfortunately i have a problem with the blocks in the gridmap :(
all the blocks are displayed correctly in the menu to the right of viewport, but when i'm trying to place them onto the grid they are all rotated 90 degrees on the x axis
nvm, just had to watch a little further into the video
i guess rotation of the pieces is stored in the engine and not in the gridmap instance
wooowwwwwwww💯💯💯💯

How many lessons are gonna be in this series?? And a request sir , please upload your videos faster,we can't wait for your awesome videos..❤
Bro. How can i download the model of the grounds??
Getting stuck on rampTop, can walk on it downstairs, getting stuck if go upstairs. RampBottom works fine.
Did you ever figure this out?

Nvm after further review I had a typo :/ Thanks again for the great tutorial!
👍
2$ Thank You!
Nooooooo i have reached the (current) last lesson
Can you make a video about how to make a lock door and unlocking it with a key in godot 2d?
Done! But it’s in my Godot 3.x 2D platformer tutorial series. .. code might be slightly different in Godot 4
@@BornCGIt works thx!!!
I don't find the last video

Patience is a virtue! 😌
First

I have 12 different pieces. Yeah, the 6 you made wasn't enough for me so I added a few more. 😅Can't wait to see the next video.🙃
Thanks!
Thank you! 🤩
Is there a roadmap/timeline for when these will finish coming out? Amazing guides! Thanks so much
