- Today we head out with @CalebKesterke and the crew, on the search for snow going to new zones.
We end up splitting in to two groups while we check out another option. Then we realize Dylan was gone. Not like him to take off but we were able to figure it out.

Dude i feel your pain. Can’t catch a break here in Maine with the weather. Get a foot of snow, following week 2” of rain. And repeat

I'm really liking this "Tag Team Video" work that you and Dawson have going. The icing on the cake is when that Kesterke Kid shows up and is able to add even more footage (he seems very comparable in his edit/view/riding style). Now, as to the Dylan thing, lots of opinions from folks on that. My take is this (something from Chris Burandt), "We pull the line to the top of the zone, High-5 each other, then we work our way down and pick up those that got stuck and/or couldn't make it". Seems fair, reasonable, and realistic. Yes, radio contact was lost here (which in and of itself is a reality). Also, after a separation, trying to meet up at the last known group spot seems like a general plan, but for reasons unknown, maybe one has to head back down "right now" but couldn't make contact. Here is my suggestion to bypass any issues. Everybody should carry some bright pink tape and a sharpie. Write a note on the tape and hang it in an obvious spot. That should take care of most situations. (Just my 2 cents....Loonies???)
Well if his A-arm problem happened then Y'all rode up and out of radio service, he'd have no way to communicate or follow on a broken machine and he either sits there until someone comes looking for him, or he looks after himself. For sure remaining a group/re grouping/ and having good communication is a challenge in the high country.
Yea he even radio'd saying he hit a stump but the clip was kind of cut off right before they climbed up higher so idk
Now this is why u should always stick together if u see a big line or gunna climb a long line always wait for others to catch up, never ever trust radios they do not always work technology has faults, before u guys climb to the top there u shoulda waited for him to catch up, bc radio musta never went threw when u guys on other side of the hill. Used to do this and almost lost a buddy due to accident after that never trust a radio 100% don’t make that mistake better being extra safe and wait 15 min or whatever longer to make sure ur all with each other and safe. , never go more then a certain distance between riders. Always wait if u can’t hear them or anything even if ur only few 100 feet away go find them don’t keep climbing.
You are such a great rider man. Videos never do anything justice, but I laugh (in astonishment) at some of your lines. Unreal. You have no idea how awesome it is for us to see you've uploaded a video. Keep up the great work man!!

I would suggest to Get a garmin inreach and send a text. If you can spend 30k on a sled and buy two every year you can afford an inreach. I hate paying the monthly subscription but my life and the lives of others could depend on it so I think it is worth it. Hard to always stay in radio contact so gps texting can save a lot of headache.
My wife says listening to the videos is annoying.. we were wondering if you could put a better can on the sleds ... lol.. love watching the scenery. I may have to pick her up some earplugs. Keep up the great work!

Yea it really sucks when you have group issues, I get the frustration, you keep getting stuck, or break something, but yea, to just bounce without radio contact... That kinda sucks.
What if he tried radioing them for 30 min and finally said hell with it? I mean you can blame dylan but there blame on all sides.
@@jaysonsorensen594 Oh yea, I totally get it, leaving a member of the group by himself sucks too. But, I feel like there were better ways to deal with that, like Matt said, he could've left a note, sent a text, whatever. I mean, ultimately its a group issue, you can't blame an individual.

How do you like the extended antenna on your radio? I have been using the BaoFangs from Ride 208 and what a difference in reliability and range compared to the BCAs. I have been debating getting the longer antenna but would probably need to convince the rest of my group to do the same.

Coming from another old Jerry here Matt. The blame is on you guys for the missing rider. You guys were still mobile when you got the call that he was in a situation. At that point you either wait until the other rider gets going again and rejoins the group if he says he won't need help; or you just rally up and go give a guy a hand. You guys made the choice to continue on and break radio contact. He got himself out; found his sled was damaged and made his way down after trying you guys on the radio. Why should someone have to wait around until it suits you guys to make sure everything is ok with him and his sled after you guys basically just moved on with your ride when he was in a situation?? You guys made a selfish decision, own it and learn from it. Nobody likes asking for help; but everyone appreciates it when it shows up. Ride safe guys.

I don’t think it was even a half mile out of the cut block judging by the footage? They got to the top then popped over to turn around. It seemed like MAYBE 30 minutes had past?

It only works so far apart and since our sleds were turned off for a while up top it no longer showed his location
It doesn't work across brands, OEMs should get their sh*t together on that one. Doo and Polaris need some kind of cell signal or BT connectivity I think. Only Garmin has a radio based system and that'll be in the G8 gauges on Cat next year (or if you can't wait, get a Thread with Group Ride).
@AllajchaSibir , the polaris 7S uses a radio signal. Can communicate with other 7S or Trail Tech Voyager pro.
If the Polaris’s keep having problems, why spend $20k+ on them?

You guys kinda ditched him up and over the mountain and if he had problems it’s as much your fault as it is his, and if you were so far out of radio service that his message didn’t go through it’s more your fault. I’m on his side for watching out for himself when he’s going to ride with a group and none of you were close enough to get his radio message🤷♂️ sounds like you all disappeared on him and forgot you were riding as a (Group)

Couldn’t disagree more with you… they went up the mountain with an obvious coming down later. You always return to the spot where you last saw one another and wait unless there is a dire medical emergency requiring you to leave.

The other 3 were in their own group. Dylan was just below us and clearly said he was good over the radio. We didn’t go much further
