@@Bmanfresh In my experience the profile cut holes don't leave a clean edge, on the drawing for the profiling I normally make the holes slightly undersized, then drill them to to exact size after for a cleaner finish and more professional end result. (You could skip this step entirely and make the the holes slightly oversized). Having said that I will still follow those steps for the tapped holes or you could damage your taps on the rough edge of the profile cut holes. Hope that makes sense.
Probably help if you drilled 12 shallow blind dimples in the side of the dies to allow the set screws to hold the dies more better in alignment and more user friendly.Wicked robust design ,I like it. You could even design a set of dies to tip by gradually starting flat and then twist into a 90 degrees all in one pass.
Hi from Wales UK Karl All I can say is thanks mate you are awesome after watching the make it video I went to the metal stockist and got 3 x 1ft square 6mm thick sheets and started building it the foot wide gives me an extra 3" in the throat and I had all the rest of the bits in my scrap bin and a spare air chisel already I went straight for the planishing hammer idea you mentioned polished one of the hammers and a lump of mild round bar and it works like a dream produces a beautiful polished finish tomorrow I start on the arm and dies to make the shaper attachment want to make a joggler die and already thinking of an adjustable fence to fix to the frame Again thanks one of the best channels out there
That’s awesome! I’m stoked that you’re building one Jason there is so much that could be expanded on with this simple design and excited to see what you come up with!
You should make a kit like that for your bead roller. I think it would sell well and it would fill the gap between a hf roller and a Mittler Bros. I also like the fact that it uses the 22mm dies. With your skill set you could do well offering weld up kits like Swag Off-road does.
So cool to see you continue making useful tools for all us fools. Watching you “whip something” up, bringing it to life, then bringing it to us plebes 👍 way to go Karl
Like the innovation from both of you. I’ve been watching your videos for the past few months. I‘ve done some metal work but could never fit an actual sized beed roller into my small shop where I recently moved to (Germany) thanks for all your help and I’m glad to support your channel
Hi! Sir. I received your store's T-shirts and stickers today. It’s very cool! As a Japanese 🇯🇵 person, I love your wonderful car custom art. Thank you!
I love what you all are doing and the help and information you provide to people getting into metal shaping! The resources "kids" have today is something i would have loved when i was young and hungry to learn. Your generation is so lucky to have access to such a wide range of tools that were either out of my reach or just not even invented when i was a teen!
LOVE! I love what i do and am motivated by all the support that comes from the community and knowing it could help people like my self struggling to learn.
These tool creation videos are amazing and inspiring. In our consumer based economy it’s all to easy to forget you may have things in your shop just waiting to be assembled 😂 Thank you so much!
I build a similar thing inspired by your last video about this - I found putting in a spring to push down the upper dye (for steady contact) reduces the amount of "hammermarks" (induced by "hopping" dye). Thanks for the inspiration!
Karl, i love your content and all that you do on here. please keep the fab work content flowing, don't turn your channel into just advertisements for your DIY tools. that's the way fireball tools channel is now, just an advertisement for the tools they make, no more fabrication videos other than to show how to use the products they sell. i've learned a ton from your channel and your projects are an inspiration keep it up!
Thank you for this feedback! I do really appreciate it and certainly don’t want to lose the roots of the channel. I do just really love making these tools and think they can really help a beginner metalshaper so that’s more of my motivation with this tool and the expanding lineup. I still have lots of work on cars to do and I am going to try and pump out two videos a week, so that one can be on the projects at least. I don’t want to see it become just a DIY tool channel either. My passion still lives in building cars.
@@MakeItKustom i love the DIY tools myself. i've just watched so many youtube channels turn into paid advertisemetns or "look at thes tools my sponsors gave me this time" shows. if i wanted to watch commercials i'd watch TV
Takes me a while to decide if I'm going to subscribe, watched a few video's over last few years so decided to subscribe at last. I like your presentation, really enthusiastic. You seem like a really great guy on camera who want's everyone to be able to have tools to do the job but unlike several channels I've watched, realise not everyone has unlimited funds. I'm retired motorcycle mechanic so will probably never make or use 99.9% of the information you give away, hope you inspire others as much as me though FWIW, even though your channel is getting bigger with probably more money coming in, you don't seem to have changed. Good luck to you.
Fantastic stuff! Love how this went from an idea and into production, and you took us along through the whole process. Go Karl and Elio, keep moving forward!
That is really neat and I am going to buy one. I just bought a new house with a nice shop but it’s gonna be two months before I can get in but I’ll be one of the newest to install add. Thank you very much Mark Reid.
Awesome work on that new tool karl and elio, I'm looking forward to its arrival, my minds been crazy on the possibilities and profiles you can create with it, keep up the good work
Finally my welding has something in common with yours! The forgotten ground.😆I'm a total newb, but I always pick up new tips watching your vids. Appreciate what you do. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and expertise! Maybe your next project could be the wi-fi ground🤔
So after seeing the first video i made one for myself just off the last video it was a spur of the moment thing so I didn't have a long throw air hammer nor did I have enough bolts so I made mine a weld together The biggest thing I learnt was the position of the air hammer Having the right hammer not the standard short throw ones And the die surface finish I also have version 2 that I am working on with a few changes that will make it a more versatile tool for my shop it's a very clever way to create a profile without the footprint or cost of a larger machine and it's very capable
@@MakeItKustom Cheers I am glad you appreciate I made my own I wasn't sure I would normally want to buy something like this to support the creator but being Australian the freight alone would be more than the kit plus the 3 month freight Once I get my long stroke hammer and air foot peddle I'll dial this one in I have the idea of using 5082 alloy for the dies for alloy work that way I have less chance of marking it compared to steel
Another great video. It’s awesome watching your channel evolve and grow and the content keeps getting better and better. Looking forward to your new forum on Patreon.
That’s true and a great point. Elio mentioned that also. I wasn’t sure if the kerf of the plasma not always being perfectly 90 that it could be off a little but I do think you and elio have a great point and it’s worth changing
That’s a neat little tool. Good idea. Only slight limitation for beads is they have to be within 200mm of the edge of the panel. I don’t think beading is this tool’s best feature. Other tools do it better. But I can see so many uses for this in other ways. For example, I wonder if a tipping die could be designed for it? This would play to its strengths. Also linear stretch dies & hole punching, shearing, countersinking holes, riveting, could be possible? Literally tons of uses where air tool can be used with this type of clever alignment. I think if you could design and produce some good dies for this, for sale, then this tool has multiple uses for small fab shops and could be a winner. Great work.
Yes, I believe a lot of these are possible and I’ve even thought about making an attachment to except the very common kick shrinking dies. If this tool can do a variety of operations, I think it can be very useful, even though it’s limited by its size.
Great tool! I'm thinking of making one. A small suggestion- when making the middle plate, reduce the dimension where the clamp is welded on. The groove in between plates will help the tubing be square to weld on. Keep the videos coming. What about the Baby Buick?
just a thought, if you put a tab in the middle plate that protrudes out the bottom you would have a good place to clamp it in a vice. love your design and your thoughts process to create tools that most can afford. keep it up great content
Hi Carl could you make a short video on attachments for this power hammer? I see you can make beads and profiles. Can it shrink and stretch? And how large a panel could you form on it? Im looking for a DIY power hammer too.
Absolutely and that’s what’s next! I believe this hammer can do it all! Shrink, stretch, planish, bead, flange, profile. I’m very excited to make all the attachments ASAP
I ordered mine when the first video came out. Still don't have it but I'm sure it's coming soon. I'm going to look at building a fence that would attach to the middle bolts on the frame. I'll slot the holes so the fence can slide. I'll let you know if it works or not. Can't wait to get mine...it's like waiting for Santa!
Do you do in person classes? If not you should consider it, you have a great way of explaining things. I would definitely pay to have an in person class with you on anything metal work!
💚🇬🇧🌱 guess I'll have to make my own version but looks pretty simple can't wait to make some curves, think I'll use ply as a fence though as I don't have a shrinking foot press thingy either, but I'm all a very handy tool 👌 Cheers for sharing guys x

Darn I’ll have to save the Benjamins for a TIG first. Awesome you developed and selling this kit. Is it possible to have a version that comes without the air hammer, hose and hardware?
hope you see this and give some feedback.... Do you think this thing could fit onto a larger beadroller (very much like the one you made)? This would give you a larger throat for bigger panels. Thinking this for a project that I'm working for which I built the same bead roller.

I went straight for the planishing hammer idea you mentioned polished one of the hammers and a lump of mild round bar and it works like a dream produces a beautiful polished
finish tomorrow I start on the arm and dies to make the shaper attachment want to make a joggler die and already thinking of an adjustable fence to fix to the frame
