I love this system it’s brilliant and quality capcom titles aswell great arcade classics and I agree the colour pallets are amazing and the 16 bit music brings back so many memories
🙂👍 Good video and thank you for showing it on TH-cam. 🙂 I have got the Evercade EXP as well. 🙂 I have brought one for my self this morning. (25th November, 2023) 🙂 Have you heard that the Duke Nukem Collection 1 & Collection 2 is getting released for the Evercade on 28th November?
Thanks for cover the Evercade EXP Gem! 👍. I’ve got one. BLAZE seems to be a very conscientious company, and continually keep improving every year! 🙂. Here’s to the Amiga collections to come!... as well as a Spectrum and any other you care to imagine?! 🤔Maybe even the might of a SEGA collection may one day appear on this exciting machine?! We can only hope. I cannot wait. Wishing you a Merry Christmas Gem! All the best for 2023! 🙂👍🎄
I'm definitely going to get one of these to replace my original Evercade handheld. I myself have had the issue with cartridges getting stuck by the way. I think it was one of the Atari carts. In general though, Blaze do an excellent job with these consoles. Great video as always Gemma
Fantastic video Gem, thanks for that, this unit looks great. I had the limited edition black one on the way until I got that dreaded email from Funstock to say they'd been stolen :( However I have ordered the standard version as well which is coming tomorrow hopefully so really looking forward to that!
@@TheGebs24 Hi ya, yes it did and I am so pleased with it, the screen difference from the original and EXP is huge, it gives all the games a much needed sharpness & gloss missing from the original, not that the original is bad, but once you’ve used this it’s hard to go back to it. And you’re absolutely spot on regarding the sound differences but I think it has to do with the speaker locations, the original has them in the front so the sound is coming directly at you but the EXP has a more traditional design like the Switch and has them on the bottom, but really it’s still a minor difference, it’s the screen quality that really shows the huge difference in quality. The build itself too, I really like the white finish and glad I got it, it will compliment the black one when we eventually get it. I think everyone should get an EXP and support what this fantastic company is doing bringing back a lot of the games that are supposedly ‘abandonware’ which clearly shows they’re not.
I love watching your retro shopping videos they are so good and thanks to you I just bought snes console today keep it up with the videos you are doing awesome 😁👍
Hey, I have recently discovered your channel. I am also from the UK (Surrey) am a massive retrogamer and have recently got my hands on a Evercade EXP limited Edition. What a great little device and exactly what I enjoy playing with cartridges and manuals ect. Just want to say your videos are great, informative and well shot. Thank you for giving is great content without going for sex appeal like alot of female "gamers" do these days 👍. Keep up the great content and look forward to watching more of your videos. All the best Jamie 😎
Thanks for the video - surprised then sent one out to you when I got some email from them saying it was stolen from the warehouse even though I pre ordered ages ago!
@daddybigboots3684 thanks - been so long I can't even remember what I ordered but still disappointed to have received that email - thought I would have it for Xmas
Buying this SOLELY for the evercade Duke Nukem carts. I wanted the actual atomic limited edition console they did, but they sold out super fast. So I opted for this, cause Duke Nukem 1+2 were childhood staples for me, being able to play them on the go is just a plus and the other set of Duke games is just a bonus for me since I have them all already but on their respective platforms. Still, this device is very cool, and I've seen some other childhood games bundled in carts, but it's usually only one or two games out of the whole cart, which makes it hard to pay for...I'd also love for them to do a NES series of carts, I'd really love to have Double Dragon 1, Commando, Adventures of Bayou Billy, Contra, and some wild West game I can't remember the title of....but I miss those games Soooo much! I'd love to just have the ability to choose what games I want on a cart, but I'm sure that'd be difficult for them to do.
Hi there! This was the best review of the Evercade that I've seen. I've been on the fence about getting one. I still am to be honest... I don't know, there's something about it that's just holding me back. Either way, this was an excellent review. Thank you.
Another great video Gemma, have you ever played Cadillacs and Dinosaurs? To me that is the best Capcom beat em up that no one ever heard of. This is a really neat system that takes me back to the arcades, growing up and playing in arcades extensively in the early 90s!
@@DetectiveClem one of the few arcade games I managed to complete. Reminds me of that movie Tammy & the T-rex I've been playing High on life on xbox. Strangely you can watch that whole movie in game lol. So bizarre and random
@@AllOuttaBubblegum123 it really is a weird amalgam of series within a beat em up. Very violent too! But definitely a neat game and brings so many good memories, that I agree!
I played it for the first time a couple of days. Reminded me of final fight but then the Dinosaurs and weapons appeared. It was satisfying using a shotgun.
I believe the problem with the carts only effects the first 10 they released. I've also heard some people are having issues with very poor battery performance. Also some have pointed out it has some quite serious light bleed issues. What was your experience of that like?
Lovely lill console that, ive never heard of evercade before so that was a nice insight. Im guessing all the roms are arcade roms right so arcade perfect versions of the games? i dunno if you said that in the video at all. Nice vid Gem :)
Yeah you can tap select to add coins. Sadly the exp capcom games have no options to lower difficulty so games like street fighter 2 and ghouls and ghosts seem to be auto set to max difficulty or near it and can't be lowered so aging gamers like me find it a huge struggle to win a single fight especially when first fight and Ryu starts throwing about 55 Hadoukens at my face nonstop and I can't even win the first fight 😂
Great video but could you please show a comparison between the EXP's own display and the original Evercade, I've heard the colour isn't so good on the new screen. Also can you please talk about the battery life? Some people are reporting only 2-3 hours and some are saying only 10 mins! There seem to be some battery problems, I'd really love to know more from someone i trust like you before I buy.
I'm one of the unfortunate people that had my limited edition exp stolen in transit, so I am awaiting thie replacement early 2023. Got to be honest, it tainted Christmas in my house
Quite annoying that you cannot change the difficulty for the built in capcom games like street fighter 2 seems to be set to almost max difficulty and ghouls and ghosts. Some of us aging gamers aren't as fast as we used to be. Hopefully an update in near Future will let us lower difficulty to be able to actually enjoy the games rather than getting annihilated by ryu in very first fight throwing 55 hadoukens at my face nonstop 😂
Have you ever played games on the amstrad gx4000? It is a console I've become interested in, but it seems a rare beast. That is a pretty cool handheld. It reminds me of the WiiU control pad.
I'd love to collect for the Evercade systems but most of the games just don't lend themselves to d-pad control for me. I'd rather just play them with a stick. Maybe it's just me!? 😵💫 It's a great little thing though.
Portrait mode is called Tate in Japan and shoot em up fans use this terminology. Its pronounced Tartay. Which in English is "rotate". I am getting one of these for my birthday.
i have seen a bazillion reviews about that with very mixed results, it seems to have a lot of cons, so lets see what we have here 🤖..also hard to get if you live in the EU
Why does nobody talk about how cheap the plastics feel, the god awful button mapping with no options to change, poor battery strength and really awkward ergonomics meaning it quickly becomes a chore to hold and use. Again, this would be cured by the addition of button mapping.
Not to mention the built in capcom games there's no option to lower the difficulty and for aging gamers such as myself who have gotten old and slow it feels like street fighter 2 and ghouls and ghosts for example are set to max difficulty and can't even win the very first fight coz Ryu goes psycho and throws about 55 Hadoukens at my face within first ten seconds and I can't even win one fight lol 😂
The miyoo mini is a great device no arguments there, but what makes the Evercade worthy in my humble opinion, is the ability to collect the physical cartridges. It gives such a nostalgic feel, and for me as a retro gamer who grew up with the original Gameboy, it really ticks that box :)
Im very tempted to get one

I really really wish we had AVP by capcom on consoles
Oh wow, I remember so many of those games. I may just have to get one of these (first I ever heard of Evercade).
This is definitely a sleek handheld design, thanks for reviewing it.
Yeah it looks way nicer than the original Evecade
I love this thing. Picked up the Renovation collection too for Gaiares 🔥🔥🔥

Magic Sword in the arcade from Capcom, though the SNES port was pretty close but sadly only 1 player.
Very cool Gemma hope to get mine for Christmas
I really want to get a Evercade.

As a person who owns the EXP, my unit has very minimal light bleed. It's only visible in night and is only around the charging port area
My unit's battery is fine so i can't speak on that issue some people are facing
Personally, I’ve not had any issues at all
I use my Raspberry Pi Zero mini-HDMI cable for TV output. 👍
I'm happy with the Evercade VS and don't care to get the handhelds🤓 The VS is amazing!
A firmware is due soon that will allow remapping of game controls..
Thanks! Great video. Look like a fun device.
Thanks for watching

New firmware solved a battery calibration issue.
Oooh this might do me for a long incoming flight and beach holiday
Haha good idea mate
Always thought that Forgotten worlds was similar to Space Harrier But playing from the side scrolling instead of from behind.
Have a great Christmas all the family 🎄🎅🏻🎮🎮🎄

Yeah buddy you can play the red box legacy certs and purple cases and blue cases np

I would go as far as saying that it's definitely worth buying, even it's on Amazon.
16:00 baby commando. Oh the 90s.
Check out the Miyoo Mini.... it's my favourite handheld emulator...
It's Arguabley one of the best available.
Absolutely loving this device, it's everything the original Evercade should've been and more.
I think Evercade is a great idea thag alowes you to own many roms that we played in the past with our emultors in a small cartridge and legally.
Been toying with the idea of one of these. The screen seems small though
It’s ample trust me :)

Hi from YNAO🥳
You may buy any PSP consols and play on it SNES, SEGA and other games even PS one games🤑

Avoid, go look at the Evercade sub reddit and see all hear about all the build quality issues, scary.
How do you play 2 players on SF2??
can't

Yes now our Reecey Brev ❤️❤️💯💯🙏🙏
