6 best boss themes: - The Dreadnought(Destiny 2) - Desperate Battle(Rebirth) - Crush with that Sword(Innocence) - With Courage(Knights of Ratatosk - GodLike!) - Break the Time Factor(Xillia2) - Daemon's Assault(Berseria - I think the boss theme is actually to fight Velvet)
I like boss themes that give me that "Time to settle the score!" vibe. Some of these remind me of impending doom, and those are more suited for catastrophe scenes. In that case Berseria and Versperia take the cake.

I don't understand why Tempest and Dawn of the New World count in such videos and Narikiri Dungeon X doesn't. Is it because the latter isn't translated in any way, shape or form? Gimmicky as it is, it's not a crossover game and it doesn't try something else, like Tales of the Heroes which is a Dynasty Warriors clone, or Summoner's Lineage which, from what I've seen, is a strategy game.

Narikiri Dungeon 1 is basically a sequel of Tales of Phantasia, but Mel and Dio are more like the descender in Radiant Mythology and the main characters of Narikiri Dungeon 2 and 3 to really connect that game to Cless' adventures.
I am suprised how between all of these, there's just one game that has a female as the main protagonist (i know Xillia 1 is another one...but i don't really count it, since it has two main protagonists). XD Awesome musics all of these by the way (specially Destiny 2, Legendia, Vesperia, Xillia 2 and Berseria)

Something as shallow as gender shouldn’t be a barrier We need more female rep, yes but it’s helping no one by crapping on the males (if anything it’s more destructive “downplaying”the male characters cuz that means you assume females can’t be equal by just by “raising” them instead) play the games for once and you’ll see the female characters are very much well treated like the male characters (Note: in Tales a protagonist doesn’t always = most important/fleshed out, they’re just the poster character and rep the game. And if anything the Main heroines rep the themes and have more growth/care in their arcs: Farah, Reala, Colette, Claire, Kohaku etc.)

Oh, they certainly are. But not without a reason, though, since at least one of the other boss themes in the game it's amazing enough to become the fan-favorite. Overcome Difficulties is overshadowed by Fighting of the Spirit and Decisive, The Dreadnought has Coup de Grbce, The Struggle to Survive has Fatalize and The End of a Thought, and, the most unfair ones: Hurry against Seeking Victory an Bloodthirsty Fang against Awkward Justice and Meaning of Birth. They are extremely underrated, sadly, because they're almost always one of my favorites...
Such amazing normal battle themes for each game but I absolutely hate the samey, bombastic boss themes of Destiny, Graces, Xillia etc. It's as if Motoi got bored and just made random shit in the music and tried to match something random with the random beat. I hate those.... I prefer something I can remember in my head and actually whistle it....
Special boss themes are almost always better. Scutum, Seeking Victory, and Awkward Justice, to name just a few, are better than all of the regular themes.
I think I know why the Tales games are so unmemorable when it comes to music. The boss themes are typical, boring "danger" themes. I think the only ones that sound like catchy boss themes are Phantasia's, Destiny 2's, Legendia's, and Vesperia's. A lot of this could just be the fault of the Tales team telling Sakuraba to keep it simple though. Unfortunately, he's kept it simple for so many years that a lot of these just sound unremarkable.
FieryShaverdian Yet when it comes to Final Boss themes some stick in my head or some of the more story related battles, such as Luke vs Asch or Flynn vs Yuri, there music was very memorable. Although I have to mostly agree that most of the tracks are simple and unmemorable. The only final boss themes that are truly memorable are from Xillia, Xillia 2 (3rd phase) and Vesperia(3rd form)
Edit: Never mind I was thinking of Final bosses. Although I feel Awkward Justice for Abyss was really good even though it was only against the god generals
They do. I really like the music from Symphonia & Hearts as I enjoyed the hell outta those games. All the later ones just seem the same to me. Vesperia & Abyss were as good as the series was gonna get on the 3D side as the later games all went to hell in terms of quality.
So you tell me that Velvet is tougher than Yuri Lowell and Asbel? They didn't even give up hope like she was about to do. Yuri killed people while he didn't like them. Asbel was prepare to die at the end.

I think he means the mid-boss theme in Celestia, first heard while fighting the giant mech in Chat's basement. Best battle theme in the game.
Except Mid-Boss 1 is also used for Greater Craymel fights, in Inferia. Mid-Boss 2 is simply the Celestia boss battle theme.
