Thank you! It is very early in the morning as I attempt to warm up my voice for leading song at the 7:30 mass today. This has really helped get me started in an organized fashion. Keep up the good work.
Mrs Cherish, thanks!! I am a soprano and I am only 13! I really want to be a singer, so before I sing karaoke I always do my warm- up with this video!! Thanks :)
Cherish Tuttle Can I ask something? Do you think it is possible to add a whole octava in your vocal range in my age? For example if I have a 3-octave vocal range is it possible to sing four octaves following the right steps?
Stacy love Every voice is different, so it is hard to say, but with the right technique, you could improve your range a couple more notes! Getting the 4th octave you are looking for would take a lot of practice to strengthen that muscle with correct vowel placement and technique. It may be helpful to have a vocal instructor help you with this! You already have a great range if you can sing 3 octaves, good for you!
Ok thanks for your advice! In my age it is impossible to have a vocal instructor because in my music school they say I have to be more 15 years old. So I practice on my own and I'm searching for singing lessons on TH-cam. Thanks again!
thanks for these videos... I had searched youtube for videos of vocal warmups, but most have the piano or keyboard with no vocals, so it was hard to tell how to sing the parts... thanks for being more complete.
Thanks for sharing these exercises. I have been using these for a couple of years for weekly vocal warmups (great for sopranos like me!) Now that I have more free time since gigs are shut down, I can work on more vocal techniques. 👌✨✨✨
Thank you so much. I have taken some singing lessons in the recent past. I feel like this is a continuation of the lessons. I know that like any muscle, regular exercise is of the utmost importance. I will continue and practice and grow as a singer! Thanks again!

Hi'.. I am only 12 and i always listen to your worm ups because i always wanted to be a singer when i grow up and your vocals has teach me alot your very pretty to ...
Hi McKenzie, if you have a dream to be a singer then keep practicing and perform everywhere you possibly can! I wish you luck on your musical journey. Thanks for the kind comments!
You probably sound a bit more childish because of the way your are placing your vowels. While singing, I would like you to make sure you are keeping your vowels very pure and natural. How you speak your vowel while normally talking, it going to be the way to place the vowel while singing. I realize I need to post more videos so that I can demonstrate how to place the vowels correctly. Please stay tuned, I will add another video this coming week. Thank you!
If you feel straining in your voice, I would not push too high. If you start feeling a strain, it would be appropriate to drop to comfortable notes for your voice. Keep up with the warm ups! They will get easier as you practice them. You are working with a muscle and as you continue to practice, you will be able to sing higher over time. Thanks for watching!
Hello Cherish. I have been doing the 10 warm up for about 2 years but my voice is still not where i would love it to be. My grandson wants me to sing at his wedding in September and i do not feel comfortable with my voice as where i am at this point. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. Leebenson1947@gmail.vom
Yes trying several vowels with each warmup is recommended. Do what feels comfortable for your voice and after you are comfortable with that, you can start adding more difficult vowels and words with the warmups.
Ohhh ok thank you so much Cherish Ross Tuttle! It means alot that you replied :-) I just got very annoyed when I couldn't sing the higher range notes xx I will be reccomending other people to go to your channel and tp subscribe! :-)
Like I said in the video, you only should sing where it is comfortable for your voice. If you are straining to sing higher notes then stop. The less tension and pressure you feel while singing the better. Only sing the warm-up in the range that you can sing comfortably. This is designed for all classifications of singers.
Hi Cherish, I love your vocal lessons. I need some help with timing in music. I am a beginner singer from India, please give me some tips to sing in proper timing.
Sudhakar Rao timing comes with experience. Do be honest I have students really try and feel the beat when they are singing. Literally sway or almost dance with the song, tap your foot with the beat. This helps to sing in good timing. Be patient with yourself! The more you practice, it starts coming naturally.
hello cherish:) happy to be a part of your subscription, well I must a big thanks for the quest I was in search for. infact I was preparing my own lesson plan for singing and your video gave me alot more to add on my lessons in future. thank you so much will be happy to have your mail I.d so that I can contact you regarding my doubts if needed. thanks
Satish Benjamin thanks for subscribing!! I also have several videos I upload on my "cherish Tuttle vocal studio" TH-cam channel. You might find some of the videos on there helpful.
Hi I really in-joy your vocal warm-ups.. Do you have any teaching on being hoarse and how to avoid it. Also how to warm -up properly to avoid it.. Thank you and Have a blessed day!
Hi Nakeda, I am uploading a video just for you today! I have had a few students in the past that have struggled with this. I hope my video will give you a few ideas of how to trouble shoot the problem of what is causing you to have a hoarse voice.
Hi Cherish, I love your videos, they are very helpful. I've always liked to sing, but I really don't know how. I've been practicing your singing exercises and I hear my voice getting better. I've been told that my voice can be Alto. Do you have anything that will help me develop it as such and that I can learn how to sing? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Velia
I think a good place to start would be to make sure you have a basic understanding of breathing, chest voice and head voice. I will post links to the videos! Breathing: th-cam.com/video/aHazQiGa_TU/w-d-xo.html Chest Voice: th-cam.com/video/MRwtyYDKOxI/w-d-xo.html Head Voice: th-cam.com/video/EzY5KV_OoI4/w-d-xo.html
I would practice warm-ups for about a week or two weeks. After a while, you will develop a muscle memory of how to sing them and they will become very comfortable and easy. As long as you are forming your vowels correctly you will be able to hit the high notes you desire. Also, make sure you are letting go of your chest voice as you go high. Let me know if I can answer any other questions. Thanks!
Thanks. A query; Do you still vocalize with the syllable "NI" until you notice it? or do you change to another voice? Thank you very much for this video. Greetings from Argentina.
thanks so much and i was wondering will these exercises let me get the higher notes and how long untill i reach them and my goal is A5 because i used to reach that note and i cant anymore thanks for replying and keep up the amazing work
Great voice. Why are the vocal workouts modulating in whole steps? Is that a modal chord progression? I thought to hit all notes for best warm up we can go half steps (C major to C# major before D major, etc.) then the range ends up too high...
Carlo Zenarosa there are so many different kinds of warm-ups out there! I have several different videos that warm up the voice differently. Thanks for the ideas on warm ups though!
I dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Clyde Van I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
If you are feeling the chords tighten, I would think the larynx is not staying in a relaxed position. I will add a video soon explaining what the larynx should feel like while singing. If you feel tension, stop singing the high notes.
You could try yawning a little in the back to try and keep the larynx down, while keeping the soft palate lifted. I also suggest you take a few lessons from a certified vocal instructor. It is hard to understand what the muscles should feel like without professional help. I still take lessons from professionals to make sure I do things right. Let me know if you have any other questions. -Cherish
The basis of all singing is to learn how to place vowels correctly. Maybe I should add a couple more videos so that the basics of singing can be understood. I also recommend taking voice lessons by a certified instructor if you have the means to do so.
hi cherish im auditioning for the american choirboy school and i need my higher range is it true that if you raise your talking voice higher in pitch you will be able to reach the higher notes when you sing
are there anythings i can do to raise my voice back to where it is or to get the higher notes and is it possible to keep getting higher notes without a limit or is there a stoping point
Only sing warm-ups to where it is comfortable for your voice. If you feel tension, stop. We have a lot of outward muscles in our neck and larynx that should not be used when we are singing. My guess is that you have some kind of jaw tension that makes you feel the stress in your voice. It should never feel uncomfortable! Try to relax more when you sing..rather than trying hard to produce the sound.
***** no i didn't know omg will it hurt my voice sense i started with this warm up thank you so so so much and will my voice get like super good if i keep doing this warm up ????
+angel Ada it will not hurt your voice but the most effective way to warm up is to start in your lower register and gradually work your way to the more demanding part of your voice and as long as you are using good technique as far as diaphragmatic breathing and correct mouth placements. etc then yes it will help you. The more you sing correctly, the stronger your voice will get :-)
Also warm ups are not meant to necessarily make you sound better but to do what to "warm up" your vocal cords to prepare you to sing without straining or damaging your chords
hi cherish, when i try to hit high notes i feel something in my throat feel uncomfortable. i don't know which part it is, maybe the pharynx or epiglottis. if i practice these exercises every day will it go away?
It means you're trying to sing in a register too high that's comfortable for your voice. Go as high as comfortable then stop at that note. You can increase you range. I suggest finding a singing coach/instructor to guide you.
No, changing your voice from how you naturally speak will raise the larynx and cause tension. To get higher notes, you should sing how you naturally would speak.

I suggest practicing warm-ups about 10 minutes a day. Just sing with this video 4 or 5 times a week.

Thanks for singing with this video! Yes I am LDS. The Statue on the piano must be a dead giveaway ;-)

Thats fine. It will not tense you, it's healthy
Hayley Waisome thanks and can you do this 2 times a day like in the mornings and afternoons or is that bad ????

hi cherish, when i try to hit high notes i feel something in my throat feel uncomfortable. i don't know which part it is, maybe the pharynx or epiglottis.
if i practice these exercises every day will it go away?

cherish ross hi i want to ask that for what time limit we have to practise these warm ups
It means you're trying to sing in a register too high that's comfortable for your voice. Go as high as comfortable then stop at that note. You can increase you range. I suggest finding a singing coach/instructor to guide you.
No, changing your voice from how you naturally speak will raise the larynx and cause tension. To get higher notes, you should sing how you naturally would speak.
almost one cord is going on top of the other, so I am getting a double tone. I hate it and it actually hurts when it happens.
Good
I think to get the results you are seeking, you should go to a certified vocal instructor. Your voice may have "limits" but a qualified teacher can help you get the higher notes are looking for.
what causes my cords to feel and sound like they are being doubled?
Did she say "larnyx"?
Hi, I can't get the high notes. Any tips? What if I just can't sing that high? Is it always possible?
Hi! Don't worry if you can't reach all the high notes yet. Warm ups are there to help you relax while singing and learn placement of vowels. It will help to sing a little higher to back off of too much air flow (you only need a little air flow the higher you go) and make sure the vowel is placed nicely towards the back of your mouth. Good luck to you!
Thank you... will keep that in mind while practicing.
Yes cherish, you are so right, at first when I started warming up I used to place the vowels at the front and it result in a shaky voice and a lot of strain in my throat, now that I have tried putting it in the back, i can easily sing high note pretty well!
So glad it helped!!
I was doing it than I heard you than I heard me than im like im so horible
are you related to the country singer Don Tuttle?
No I am not...but you never know if we are very distant related! haha
can you help me im 13 and i want to learn how to sing please
