Thank you Kathleen for this lesson. I am a 73 year old singer and doing these exercises has improved my vocal strength in two weeks! Just in time for first performance since the pandemic. Looking forward to singing again with the acclaimed Aesthetic Realism Theatre Company! 🎉😊❤
I wasn't paying attention and I clicked the thumbs down by mistake and I then went back and pressed the thumbs up twice, I'm so sorry! That actually was one of the best vocal exercises that I've found on You-Tube so I really hope I didn't screw anything up for you by making that error. Bye and I will be looking at more of your videos. Thank you!
Just ran into this Kathleen. This was a great video. Never took singing lessons before and I'm now 74. Interestingly, my voice has gained a whole new quality over the last 1.5 years and my recordings are pleasant. However, the trade off is that my range is smaller (depending on the song I guess). I'll be watching your videos in hopes that I can make improvements. Thanks so much. Your videos are very inviting.
Great warmup, especially when I didn't feel like doing it, even though I know it's essential, and I finished it with satisfaction and gusto!!!! .Thanks so very much ❤
I am a "mature" singer. I do have a problem with a wide vibrato, but now on held notes D4 and lower, I have developed what sounds like a vocal fry on posted notes. I am a Sweet Adeline and that just does not work for that music. What am I doing wrong and what will help? The wide vibrato has gotten better, but now it's that obvious fry.
Check out my exercises for vocal efficiency: th-cam.com/video/m99rpaCiSqs/w-d-xo.html But also, it might be a good idea to check in with an ENT and Speech Language Pathologist to make sure everything checks out. Sometimes they can physically see things that a vocal coach can't!
I'm 72, not a singer but need this kind of exercise badly with my weakening throat/voice. Can I anticipate improvement in my speaking voice if I continue this exercise?

Can you make a tape for female basses? I find my mid-range C4-F4 is the weakest with my break at E4. My range is B2-C6 (pretty high for a bass. But I really want to strengthen the middle and get rid of the break. Thanks.

Thank you for the encouragement. I’ll try these exercises, too!
Question: Why do most people suggest avoiding rolling the head to the back?
Lots of folks in PT and related fields advise against it - easy to injure or pinch spine/adjacent tissues!
@ Ok. Thank you.

Halfway through my shows my throat closes up and my range shrinks by 80%. Higher notes almost i possible, what causes this and can be corrected?
Sounds like tension! It's hard to know without hearing it, but that's the most likely culprit.
