The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Last few months I’ve been able to finally upgrade my units only to find out that my TI twos are now obsolete from Lowrance. Your help and advice Would be greatly beneficial and helpful! This was a total waste of time. The only thing I could see was a glared out screen. The video was so bad I could not even see the Lowrance logo. Novice!

Killer video, just picked up an hds 9 for my kayak. I noticed a lot of noise throughout the water column on my downscan, any tips for reducing it?

Just so you have C Map or mapping that allows that. My Elite Ti2 units don’t have C Map I use a Navionics plus card which doesn’t allow shading.
Yes, the carbons can do shading.
