The packs of the retail version are just as insane. The first pack I opened had Kargan Dragonlord, Mana Crypt, Animate Dead, and foil Sakura-tribe Scout.
The Mystery Booster retail boxes are legit, and favorite set in years. I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen with card prices due to this set. I pre-ordered a booster box for $97 shipped and all. My go to online store shipped them out Wednesday, so that it arrived to me on release day (yesterday/Friday the 13th). Then 2 hours later they went up to $130, and now today it's went to $150. Pricing going up 50 % in 1 day is pretty unbelievable. Not sure if that will last though.

Anybody else notice Rudy changes his location every video? He has been to WotC and now he is at Giggitys Restaurant. I don't even know if that is a real restaurant.
Some friends and myself opened boxes last night. We did not get any test cards in any pack. Each pack also contained a foil card at the end which could be any rarity(usually rare though). This box opening was very weird from our experiences. Edit: Was this a convention box and not a retail box?
I had a lot of fun playing with the retail packs. Hopefully Rudy gets his hands on some of them before they go up too much. FYI, each pack has 2 commons/uncommon for each color, an artifact/land, multicolor, a pre-m15, post-m15 card, and depending on which pack you open, a foil or a playtest card. The last cards are in a separate pool of 121.
Once these stop being opened at Magic Fests, the value of sealed packs is going to go up substantially, and shrinkwrapped boxes will command an even higher premium. They're going to become incredibly scarce collector's products. It's worth noting that Magic judges force you to open all the packs at the beginning of mystery draft events (or at least the ones in Reno did), so you can't just leave with the sealed packs and resell them on the secondary market.

I opened my mystery box yesterday after work and I pulled a Sen Triplets foil
Well, that is a previous version of the mystery box. The ones on sale don't have the test cards, instead they have a foil slot in the end, after the mythic/rare slot
The retail version is exactly the same, except without the playtest cards, but with a foil from a curated list (separated from the set's list); one of the big money pulls in the foils is Sen Triplets, for example.
Each slot has a 121 cardpool seperate from eachother. The reg. Nonconvention ed. Is 100ish a box and has a super hot 121 foil slot that replaces the test cards for the lgs ver.
the way the packaging works is 2 of each color with 1 slot being common or uncommon in each, then a random old border card uncommon rare or mythic then another rare and a foil which is of 181 card i believe that are NOT in the main set ( so foil cards ONLY come in foil and non foil cards ONLY have non foil varients. IE you cannot pull a foil mana crypt as mana crypt can be pulled as a non foil)
Each convention booster has a very high chance for a mana crypt. Likely adds to the overall box cost. I have seen 4 of these opened 3 of which I was prese T for and all of them have had a mana crypt. Also quite common in retail boxes.
I'm watching this right after coming back today from playing a draft of the retail version of this set. Ended up with a four-color nephilim and golem tribal deck where I kept bouncing flickering and phasing solemn simulacrum and mulldrifter over and over again. And I won 2 out of 3 rounds with the wacky jank. It was a blast I also pulled a selvala heart of the wild which paid for the draft and then some. This is a very fun set for draft even though it's playing at the retail version.
"Why didnt they just make this a product we can draft?" They did, Rudy...they did. There is 1 card slot difference between the WPN and convention sets, and thats the playtest card becomes a foil card. Everything else is the exact same as the $110 box everyone is opening this weekend.

The regular packs have a foil in place of the development card 2 of each color common/uncommon from a select pool. Then there are 5 slots that have a select pool of cards in each slot. The cards are totally random based on the slot
I was feeling hungry and stopped by giggity's restaurant to say they are doing 2021 convention boxes. Is this the surprise product you recently mentioned? Ive already ordered one because i doubt these will be regular release!
Duplication is an issue at least with my box of the NON-convention even with the large card pool. 2x Animar, Soul of Elements 2x Fblthp, the Lost 2x Greenbelt Rampager 2x Liliana, Death's Majesty 2x Release the Gremlins 2x Whir of Invention These were all in the post 15 slot. The dups were mostly bulk rares. The foils and older rares offset the value along with the Mana Crypt pulled. A duplicate of that would have been nice :D
No I would just buy the retail version and get foils if I were to open the box! But because of the low supply if I had the opportunity to score one of these to keep sealed I possibly would as well

Also not including everything else he opened, it's insane. I'm waiting in my 3rd box to come in tomorrow. Hoping to get my own mana crypt
Well, only convention edition costs that much, normal mystery boxes are worth about the price of box of regular set (except this contains 24 boosters). Only one difference between convention and lgs edition is test card. Lgs boosters have foil in that slot
Hey Rudy! Not sure if others mentioned it. (Don't wanna sift through comments) Convention Version is expensive because retail version replaces the R&D cards with foils of cards from random sets. Cheers!
Rudy, they did make it into a regular product. The chaos drafts are sweet too. Its just going to be shortlived, because its not a big run. Prob a good investment.
When did you film this? After watching many videos of people opening the retail version it seems weird to me that Rudy does not know how this product works
Every slot in the pack is its own entire sheet, the first like 13 can't be rare, but the last two are at least one guaranteed rare/mythic, and then the 'old frame'' slot as noted can be whatever from that sheet, which has a lot of rares. Gavin said the only way they could make this was to literally use the EXACT printing files, that's why dates don't show 2020 etc, they just literally slapped the symbol in the corner so it wouldn't fuck things up.
That's extremely cool and as someone who hasn't bought a MTG product in over 20 years if this wasn't $600 a box I might actually buy a couple booster boxes. The assortment of cards some I remember and others I've never seen would be cool to open. Again though $600 that without that Mana Crypt at the end would be very hard to justify. Test cards are neat and fun at all but like you said we have no idea how many of these are going to pop up for sale...
Google or ebay "mtg mystery booster box". You will find the retail version around 150$. It's the same as convention boxes, but the test cards are replaced by foil cards.
I think the packs work you get 2 commons/uncommon per colour, 2 commons and uncommons for coloureless 1 old card (I did a draft of this at fnm) I think from theros and before. And 1 card from Tarkir onwards. For the non convention packs you get a foil instead of the test cards you probably average 2 rates their is one guaranteed rare and the old slot can be any rarity as well as the foil slot follows the old card rule. The normal mystery boxes cost £110 this is not the usual product
Retail versions include a foil from a 121 card pool instead of a play test card. Arguably going to push down the price of cards if the retail product is actually print to demand. The mana crypts alone are going for $125 vs. the current $200.
Retail is even better. I got a box last night. Ther very last pack had mana crypt, demonic tutor and foil centric triplets. Best pack in my 23 years playing.
If I understand correctly, every card should be the same rarity(regardless of the rarity color symbol). Every slot has a unique 121 card sheet to pick from. Your chance of pulling any specific card is the same as pulling any other specific card. Mana Crypt is just as common as Rancor.
Am I the only one to notice this was at giggity’s restaurant...
No.
No, that was weird
apparently there is a "Giggity's Bar & Grill" in Texas.

The order is :
Test card
2 uncommon or common in each color
Multicolored
Artifact or land
Older than m15 card
Mythic or rare to close it out

Alone ate home, I exclaimed "WELL FUCK!" to myself, when you pulled the Mana Crypt. Just by pure reflex.
Hey Rudy! Not sure if others mentioned it. (Don't wanna sift through comments) Convention Version is expensive because retail version replaces the R&D cards with foils of cards from random sets. Cheers!
The intros just get better and better. Keep it up brother!!
Rudy, they did make it into a regular product. The chaos drafts are sweet too. Its just going to be shortlived, because its not a big run. Prob a good investment.
When did you film this? After watching many videos of people opening the retail version it seems weird to me that Rudy does not know how this product works
How to tell the difference between theese and the originals?
Every slot in the pack is its own entire sheet, the first like 13 can't be rare, but the last two are at least one guaranteed rare/mythic, and then the 'old frame'' slot as noted can be whatever from that sheet, which has a lot of rares. Gavin said the only way they could make this was to literally use the EXACT printing files, that's why dates don't show 2020 etc, they just literally slapped the symbol in the corner so it wouldn't fuck things up.
"Why didn't they make more of this?" Oh my sweet summer child...
Are the test cards stickers on cards? Or actually printed that way?
That's extremely cool and as someone who hasn't bought a MTG product in over 20 years if this wasn't $600 a box I might actually buy a couple booster boxes. The assortment of cards some I remember and others I've never seen would be cool to open. Again though $600 that without that Mana Crypt at the end would be very hard to justify. Test cards are neat and fun at all but like you said we have no idea how many of these are going to pop up for sale...
Google or ebay "mtg mystery booster box". You will find the retail version around 150$. It's the same as convention boxes, but the test cards are replaced by foil cards.
Now thats alot of cases
How much of the newest
boxes
I love this set so much, im definitely buying a box Wednesday. Retail version though.
Retail is even better. I got a box last night. Ther very last pack had mana crypt, demonic tutor and foil centric triplets. Best pack in my 23 years playing.
Anyone else see the Adorned Pouncer looks to be bent in the bottom half of the frame area? around the 12:28 mark?
The regular mystery boosters have a foil instead of test cards in every pack. Thats the big difference.
Imagine Arabian Nights cards which is available on Chronicles, as... City of Brass. But with the bright of Arabian Nights and the Symbol.
If I understand correctly, every card should be the same rarity(regardless of the rarity color symbol). Every slot has a unique 121 card sheet to pick from. Your chance of pulling any specific card is the same as pulling any other specific card. Mana Crypt is just as common as Rancor.
Wotc saw Your video on how much the eBay repack sellers were making and decided to make their own repacks
at least when wotc promises you have a chance to get a value card like mana crypt, they deliver on that promise of their being a chance! :P
