I know right, I dont remember the last time Rudy used music in any of his videos.

The opening music would be hilarious with like an early 2000s sitcom with Rudy just opening a beer looking at the camera and the rest of the characters are just old booster boxes

Same. I was like blastoderm and burst became major players when invasion dropped with fires and Sivvi was literally a race to drop her first lol. Nemesis had some powerful cards in it for that time
Real talk. Once Rudy said, "I've never heard of Lin-Sivvi" was when I knew that Rudy doesn't know how to play this game.
Brian Cook 👌😂for sure.? That card was everywhere and even got a ban in Bkock constructed showing you the power of the card with 6/8 top 8 decks being Rebels was dope deck. I played counter rebels during standard when invasion block came out and it was really good.
Hearing Lin’s name brings back nightmares
You don’t remember Linn Sivvi or Rootwater thief those cards were some of the best ones from this era. I believe the thief was a invitational card from winning an event and you got to design the card and have your likeness on it. Then Linn Sivvi was the most powerful card in block constructed as she was completely dominate in the rebels deck that was 6 of the top 8 of the pro tour that year and got banned in block constructed. Those days the legend rule was much different and don’t quote me but I think the first person to play the Linn Sivvi was the only one allowed to play it your opponent wasn’t allowed cause there could only be 1 legend with the same name on the whole battle field. Or if they played a copy then both copies would die but you had yours out first so you would just tutor up all your rebels. The card was powerful in standard as well in many deck like counter rebels with absord when invasion came out and was one of the best cards until she rotated!!!
Mike Churchill ya, second person couldn’t even play his Lin-Sivvi. Then a few years later during champions block they changed it so the second legend played kills both in play

Exactly...anyone who paid any attention at all or played at all knows Lin Sivvi, it was everywhere for a while. Also his disrespect towards blinding angels ability makes me think he’s never seen it in action, stealing a whole game from an aggressive creature deck

How can you not remember Lin-sivvi? It was probably the most famous card from the set in magic history, next to daze/AK. Rebels with Lin-Sivvi owned standard for a while and it was an annoying mirror match because whoever played Lin-Sivvi first basically won the game, since the other player couldn’t play theirs. It led to one of the first Legends rule changes, that the second legend can be played, and it kills them both. So if u are 2nd to play lin, it at least functions as a kill opponents Lin, instead of useless unplayable card clogged in ur hand.
the legend killing both didn't happen until later. that was after lines-ivvi was already gone so you didn't get to kill the opponents with yours, younwere just stuck with a very neutered deck and a uncastable stuck in hand until you lost the game. I liked rebels quite a bit back then. Vie always liked WW decks tbh. I didn't play counter rebels though. much later the rule changed
Ryan McLain ya, the rules change didn’t happen until it was already out of play, but it was the main reason that change was made
I loved that intro way more than I should have haha the classic Rudy-cheese with this weirdly out of place polished beat which makes everything cheesier. Perfect.
Accumulated Knowledge is good but Skyshroud Claim is much better so is Flame Rift

I haven’t even watched you open a single pack yet and I am already entertained..nice addition of music to the intro..good touch. You should do that kind of weird thing with the camera to different obscure music for every intro to a box opening. Lol
The power creep is real - I didn't play much magic between 2004 and 2019 (starting to get back into it) and my first impression of the modern stuff was that like 90% of the cards are overpowered.
Moggcatcher was always a great card Rudy! Even now every goblin commander deck must have! So happy that you opened it in the almost last pack!! So many memories!

Hey Rudy from Spain! Counterfeits. I know you have talked about this issue before . Could you please center in a video about maybe some basic equipment to inspect and analyze cards and be able to tell if what we are about to buy is original or not?
I am very reluctant to buy in cardmarket for that Counterfeiting problem . I don't want to buy 5 duals and then realize they are fake!

Manuel Amperio he has done this in countless videos. Just go back through his videos or search on TH-cam. Easiest ways to tell is the texture and how light reflects off of the back.

Parallax tide and Wave really stirs up memories (with Opalescence of course) or Wave + Ankh of Mishra:-). Also Blastoderm, Blinding Angel, Kor Haven, Flame Rift. I could go on. Great set:-)
I love the old frames and artwork so much. That's why I collect them even if they're worthless. Just something tasty looking about the old cards.

This was my favorite set until m25. I loved sorting these while watching Buffy. I suppose I still do.
I remember opening a few boxes of this back then. I still have all the bulk in a box in storage.
I liked the old seals in that set. But i LOVED Raths Edge. Im german and nobody knew the 2 mana version was an misprint. So yeah, my Raths edge made 2 mana on tapping. No downside.

Blastoderm in my stoppy deck was sooooo good back then. Fading and echo were great mechanics imo.
The intro made me feel like I was in an elevator with glass panels descending the levels of Rudy's basement

Still have alot of my nemesis cards and have beefed up versions of the premade decks I liked this set alot

The idea behind the "Spellshaper" monsters was that each one could turn any card in your hand into a specific spell. You would pay the mana cost (usually a bit higher than the spell you were mimicking) and then tap the spellshaper and discard a card. Then the effect would mimic the effect of a particular spell. Some of the more popular ones were "Waterfront Bouncer" and "Undertaker" which mimicked the effects of "Unsummon" and "Raise Dead". If it sounds like discarding all of those cards would be really bad, keep in mind that when these came out "Squee, Goblin Nabob" was still legal and his ability returned him to the hand if he went to the graveyard from anywhere. You didn't even have to be playing red to keep getting him back over and over again. This made Spellshapers considerably more powerful back in their day.
I just see tons of EDH shenanigans here. Fading counters with proliferation seem like it could be a thing here (Karn's Bastion is so underrated)

Nemesis was one of my favorite sets I also like the ice age I like Exodus I miss some of the older cards cuz they were better
