    Thank you for making these videos! The details, especially the torque numbers are a tremendous help. This has given me the confidence to perform the 12,000 mile service myself. Again, thank you!

    Thanks for this video, it saved $150 hour that BMW charges. BTW I use Rotella T6. Shell Pennzoil makes BMW oil most likely is exactly the same.

    Nice video, perfect in fact, quick and to the point. The only thing I might add is the 200 ML you might be "missing" to bring it up to factory spec 4L, is probably due to the empty oil filter. Crank it over, and warm it up once, and you're probably something close to 200ML low. But, lol, that's me being a perfectionist. The truth is that you need that 5th quart to prepare you to top off, EVERY TIME you ride, when you check the sight glass before you ride. (Right? 😁) Looking forward to your next travel video series. I can't do a South American tour on my own, but I can virtually, through your videos. Thanks a bunch. Scott

      Hey Scott thanks for the comments. Fair point although I’ve always checked the sight glass and never needed to add the final 215mL. Glad you enjoyed the videos, it was fun to make them and a good reminder of the trip. Cheers!

    Great videos, I had a K1600GT until today. Now I have an R1200RT LC and there are a few different torques and procedures. Thank you.

    Great video EXCEPT, normal procedure is to put some oil INTO the filter before installing. Since the filter sits sideways, don't fill it up all the way. Put in some oil, rotate the filter around to get the oil spread inside then spin it on.

      Interesting tip. I’ve never heard that before.

    Where I ride on track days, the track has banned K&N filters that have the nut on them like this one. They say too many of them fail, they crack around the nut, dumping oil on the track. Ever since I got that briefing on my first track day I’ve stayed away from that type of filter.

    • @PacMoto
      @PacMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not know that, thanks for sharing. Nonetheless, the oil filters sold with 6k and 12k maintenance kits at pacmototours.com/store do not include the bolt.

      Whoever is running that track is an effing idiot. K&N filter failure rate lower than most anything else on the market. If you are running a motor that develops so much vibration and oil pressure that it's blowing a filter apart...you have a serious motor problem. Not a filter problem.

    Great video, thank you.
    I'm thinking about buying a 2021 R1250 RT. When I asked about oil changes, I was told that I can change oil and filter( using BMW filter) but would need to bring bike to the shop in order to reset the "Maintenance Required" alert that shows up at designated intervals as required for oil changes. Question: Can I reset the warning myself (via special tool?) or do I need to take bike to the shop to do this reset. It's a small thing in overall terms and yet it's big enough problem that would force to to buy something else.. Thanks

    • @PacMoto
      @PacMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can reset the indicator with the GS-911. Buy the R1250RT - you’ll love it!

      Easy peasy.....good job!!!!! Im ready to pull the trigger on either a new 1250rt OR gsa. Turning in my k1600b after a couple of disappointing issues involving the starter and the reverse module....only 5k miles on her and out of warranty....ugggh.

    What is the dimension of the oil plug crush washer? Getting ready for my first oil change and the nearest BMW motorcycle dealer is 100 miles away so I plan to order them online. My year, make and model is the same year as the RT in your video. Thank you.

    • @PacMoto

      It’s an M20 crush ring for the oil drain plug. You can order your oil change kit here: pacmototours.com/store.
