I use the black original bar ends, the original inserts, then the spacers from the hand guard kit…I have a GSA by the way…..
I’ve just finish installing my hand guards….Looks really nice & level but when I fully turn to the left or right I’m hitting the windshield….what should I do to fix this issue….Don’t want to take them off….thanks in advance…..
Very clear video, before I was a little bit afraid but after watching, I am going to do with confidence. Thank you !!!!!!
I love to hear that!
Thanks for the videos, when its time for the pads to be changed I’ll be doing it myself now I’ve watched your videos many thanks 👍
Music to my ears!
Thank you save a lot of money
Thanks for sharing!
Love seeing you back in the garage!
Thank you!
I noticed you spliced the video at 7:38 to remove an hour of finagling. Note to BMW - There's already two bolts on top of the gas tank area. I wish your engineer just added two more bolts and created an easy to remove cover so I could use my day for riding not waste it replacing the air filter. Design rating = FAIL
No doubt changing the air filter in the RT is a total PITA!
The engineer who designed the air box and body work interface on this bike should be ashamed, fired, and prevented from designing anything.
It is certainly tedious!
Excelent explanation...👏👏👏
Well thank you.
The spacer is only on one side?
Yes, there is only a spacer on one side.
Where did the 180ml value come from? I couldn't find it in the Rider manual. Thanks!
Directly from the dealer. Call your local dealer and ask them for confirmation.

100?
Hi sir, is threadlock necessary for the two caliper bolts torqued at 24 Nm? Thanks, Marc, Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦😉🏍️ ( this week should end my riding season before winter 😢)
Great videos Kurt. These videos and the service kits you sell really make it easy for a guy (or gal) to keep their bike serviced and save money. I just finished a full 12K mile service on my GSA in about an hour and 1/2 and saved a ton of money. One question; Do you think it matters if the bike and therefore the gear oil warmed up to get all the old gear oil out, or is it ok to perform this service on a cold bike?
Thanks for the feedback. A best practice is to warm the engine up a bit to help drain all the oil. The gear oil is not very viscous so it’s not necessary. I’m glad to hear you saved a bunch of $$!
So much easier than the inline 4. Especially a classic Japanese where you have to pull the tank off man. This is easy because the heads are right there.
That’s quite true!
12:44 BTW on my 2017 R1200RTW the torque spec for the 17mm axle bolt is 30nm according to the owners manual and what I found online. 50nm is the spec for the older air cooled R1200RT.
Video is very informative. I broke both tabs on right side. The adhesive on the tape, on the upper tab, gave up twice, other is still holding. For others with this same problem, I used JB Weld Marine Epoxy and it's still holding 4 months later. Thanks again for your video.
Great thanks for the tip!
oh no, I lost my locking pin for the front breaks… Should I purchase some? Or it’s ok to run without these small pins😢
Are you referring to the cotter pin in each side? You absolutely need those to ensure nothing slips apart while riding. You can get cotter pins at your local hardware store.
Thank you for this, will be doing my 6k service this weekend. What size is the crush washer? I keep getting mixed results online. 😅
The crush washer for the oil drain plug is M20.
@@PacMoto Thank you so much for the response.
The right had side does not need filling, there are 2 bolts that are easily reachable that loosens the knob assembly to get at the top bolt
That’s good to know. Thanks for the feedback.
No ecu reset or what soever?
No, but you can reset the maintenance interval if you have a GS-911 or a Motoscan.
@@PacMoto big help
@@KENNETHDIMLAThanks for watching!
I have a 2006 RT and there are four in it two per side
Ahh that makes sense!
Hey just want to thank you for all your super helpful videos. For me at least they are a very helpful guide in the maintenance of my GS ADV. I know it can be hard making and putting out content but your easy to follow step by step videos are much appreciated. Thank you so much and keep up all the great work you do! Rolando Martinez 2021 GS ADV owner Fresno, Ca
Rolando, your message made my day. Thank you!
You need links
What links would you like?
Will the Speed bleeder SB8125L work on both Left and right front brakes?
For a R1250GS the Speed Bleeder website says SB1010S for the rear, SB8125L for the right front, and SB6100 on the left front.
Would be easier if you provide leaks
Leaks?
Tks a lot
Thanks for watching.
Thanks Kurt. One suggestion: while you have the caliper off, take a moment to inspect the slider pins. At 18K miles, my 2022 definitely needed some attention. Clean them up and apply high-temperature brake grease-it only takes a few minutes. I noticed some premature and uneven lining wear on mine, which I suspect was due to the slider pins.
Good call!
so if the clearance is off is there a video on how to adjust the valves?
I have not made one yet...
You changed one what about the other three
There are only 2 spark plugs in a R1200/R1250.
Great video, could you please give us the brand of torque wrench used and size ( 1/2 , 1/4 or 3/8). I was looking for in Amazon, so I can't find it !!
Great video
Thanks for your feedback.
12k miles...geez. I've never gotten more than 8000 our of my front tire.
Yeah, the Dunlop Trailmax Missions are a long lasting tire.
Thanks much for this video. I'll replace the brake pads for my R1200RT now.
Yes, do it!
Thank you very much! Greetings from Germany!😊
You are welcome.
Is the GS911 the only reader you recommend? I was going to try to change the oil on my 2020 r1250r and need a way to reset that annoying maintenance reminder msg. I saw some others on Amazon that are much cheaper than the GS911.
I hear many people use the MotoScan app. I only have experience with the GS-911.
@@PacMoto Just a follow up. I used motoscan and it worked fine.
If you are only replacing rear brake pads there is no need to remove the caliper, only if you want to do a cleaning. But if you take out the caliper you must use Thread lock compound to the T40 screws (manual says to replace the screws too)
Shouldn't the ABS sensor be removed and tied back safely out of the way? Also......you NEVER use a torque wrench to break loose any bolts, otherwise great vid and thanks for making it. :)
I will tie back the calipers and brake sensor if it will be a day or more before I finish the job. Curious why you think one should never use a torque wrench to loosen bolts. Thanks for the feedback.
@@PacMoto a torque wrench is designed/intended to torque only, IF you use a torque wrench to loosen bolts, you MUST set the range much higher than the tightening torque, if you do that.......there's a much better chance it wont throw off the calibration or worse damage it. I only use a breaker bar or a 1/2 inch drive ratchet for loosening bolts, and any legit master mechanic would likely cringe at the thought of someone using a torque wrench like that. Love your vids, they have been very helpful for me on my 17 GS already. Cheers.....🙂
Thanks, I'm going to try this
Yes, do it!
Thanks for this video, it saved $150 hour that BMW charges. BTW I use Rotella T6. Shell Pennzoil makes BMW oil most likely is exactly the same.
Great, thanks for the feedback!
I paid way more through the dealership😮
Sorry :(
Actually the dealer have me the wrong part so I'm going to try and take it back and get a refund. I ended up buying the ones you show in your video and it worked great. Thanks again!
@aromrell Excellent news!
Thank you for taking time to produce this. I'm currently working on replacing the TPMS sensor on my r1200 gsa so this video will come in handy.
Thanks for the feedback. These are the sensors I used last time and they worked great. a.co/d/4sG9Jyp
@@PacMotoDang! I went through the dealership and paid 10X as much😢
Dang. Pretty sure these are identical to the ones the dealer sells just without the BMW logo. Next time :)
Very clear and helpful
Thank you.
Hello! Thank you for this video! Helped out greatly!
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
Do know if there is a maintenance manual available to buy?
None that I am aware of for the 1250.
Thank you for making these videos! The details, especially the torque numbers are a tremendous help. This has given me the confidence to perform the 12,000 mile service myself. Again, thank you!
That makes me smile!
There must be a better way to find the TDC position. usually the valves gear or shaft have a marking.
There is a better way which I show in another video. You can place a flat edge against the two valve lobes and you are at TDC when both flat edges are together.
Great video Kurt. Thank you
Thanks, Chris!
I appreciate the video. After washing and rinsing, I used a salad spinner to remove the excess water from the liner pads, and it worked flawlessly.
The salad spinner is brilliant!
SALUDOS SEÑOR, QUESTION ?? IF I BUY FROM YOU, DO YOU DO MEXICO SHIPING ???????
Hola amigo. Desafortunadamente el envío a México es demasiado caro. ¿Dónde vive? Voy a ir a México pronto.
