Yep, but milan san remo is still a sprinter's race. UAE didn't make a huge diff up the last climb to drop the strongest sprinters and classics riders but still getting 3rd is not bad.
I was pretty impressed he got third in that bunch of strong riders at the end!
Bella gara, una volata ristretta tra grandissimi campioni. Alla fine ha vinto un velocista, ma la bellezza di questa classica è che non è mai banale.

Bellissima sanremo
Un'edizione altamente emozionante, spettacolare, specialmente dopo gli attacchi di Pogacar e di Van Der Poel in risposta allo sloveno, l'olandese ha dimostrato di essere come sempre in una condizione fisica eccelsa per la devastante potenza che ha e che non ha mancato di dimostrare anche oggi! Anche la volata è stata intensa da vedere, vittoria meritata del belga Jasper Philipsen che conferma di essere ancora una volta attualmente il velocista più forte del momento, ma sinceramente speravo in una vittoria dell'australiano Michael Matthews, rimontato alla fine dello stesso Philipsen arrivato poi secondo quasi al fotofinish al traguardo di via Roma. Avendo puntato tutto sulla vittoria di Philipsen per il Fantacycling sono contento anche per questo, la mia previsione è stata totalmente azzeccata!
Poggi missed a couple of kicks or even had to brake when Philipsen was moving to the left (only visible in the overhead footage). He might have had a chance to win the sprint otherwise. Not Philipsens fault of course, but just saying. Poggi too much of a gentleman to mention it afterwards, he's enjoying the racing even more than the winning!

Matthews ,avendo anche doti di resistenza nelle salite non molto lunghe può rifarsi ad esempio nella Amstel Gold Race,dove mancheranno alcuni tra i più forti,tipo Roglic,Wan Aert,Pogacar,Evenepoel,non so se anche Mathieu.e quindi ci sono anche buone speranze per Bettiol ,il quale ,dato l'ottimo stato di forma punterà anche al Fiandre,ma lì sarà molto più difficile poiché ci saranno anche Van Aert e Van der Poel.e sarà altrettanto difficilissimo per i due (Matthews e Bettiol) per la Liegi perché ci saranno Pogacar e Evenepoel e lo stesso Van der Poel (che però non dovrebbe essere non nella condizione migliore dopo Fiandre e Roubaix); e attenzione anche a un ritrovato Alaphilippe per la campagna Vallone.e vedremo anche cosa potrà fare anche un molto pimpante Sobrero,che ha sorpreso alla Sanremo per la sua altrettanto grande forma
Questa sintesi si è mangiata tutte le azioni sul poggio..
