We recommend using our Icing Color chart! It's great for creating different color combinations: blog.wilton.com/icing-coloring-color-chart/
What consistency works best for the roses? Also how did you use to get the dark red?
I like a medium consistency. If it's too soft the petals won't hold up, but if it's too firm you kill your hand and wrist. This almost looks too soft?
Just add like 2 tbs of milk to your batch of frosting, take a little out and test a rose. If it's too firm add 1-2 more tbs and try again. That's what I do with my recipe anyway.
