  • As far as I know this is one of the first videos of a Heil STARR paired with a Peterbilt 520. Owned and operated by Valley Recycling and Disposal in Salem Oregon, this actually happens to be just one of many in the area as of late. Fairly recently it seems as if every company in and around Salem has completely modernized their fleet with 520 Labrie ASLs and/or STARRs, continuing the tradition that has been in the region for quite a while now.
If you look carefully you'll notice that this isn't just your average STARR system. Despite being on a 520, you'll see that a first generation Rapid Rail arm sits atop the chassis, rather than the newer, wider, more triangular arms that are now standardized for all Rapid Rails. Furthermore, according to the driver, this STARR body in particular is over 20 years old which makes it likely one of the first bodies Valley ever bought. Of course you probably can't tell the difference between one that is that old versus the latest model since the design really hasn't seen much of a facelift at all since it was first produced. The driver also mentioned this truck is part of the last batch of STARRs Valley bought for multiple reasons, including the arm falling off the truck...
Huge thanks to the awesome driver Rex for letting us get some video!

This truck has got to be one of my favorites! The stripes on it make me happy! Plus I think the way the truck loads the trash into the back is fun! I’ve declared that side loaders are my favorite type of truck. Keep these amazing videos coming! I love them! And once again- props to the cameraman for his amazing videography skills 🥰 true talent.

Nice video! The colors on the body look really good, and definitely don’t mind it paired with a 520. The driver had a great operating style and was very quick. Great work!

Awesome video!! I'm pretty much from Salem, so I get beyond excited when someone posts from there! These STARR Rapid Rails are always fun to watch, they really do like them in that area. I'm really hoping to go film there this year (mainly Republic Services), again great work!
