Corsair teaches a masterclass on what to do when a company makes a mistake. The modern world is complicated enough that every company will make a mistake at some point, what separates a good company from a bad one is how they handle those mistakes. 1. admit you made a mistake, and that it was your fault 2. Outline steps of how you’re working to prevent a similar issue in the future

Wow, a PET? He sure didn't want to let go, that machine got it's use! Although if he had to do his calculations on a new windows machine it probably took longer to find the software and figure out how to use it.
PLA overheating is the equivalent of Intel instability for C64. Apparently none of the revisions truly fixed it and this chip runs hot, being the one of the most common failure causes.
I know this might be a bit weird, but seeing the 50 series cards matching some space heaters in terms of power consumption, wouldn't it be helpful to include a power-limited test to see if they're doing improvements just by pushing more power? Cheers and merry Chrysler!
And a Happy Nissan to you (although they are finding themselves in the position of having to merge with Honda, so who knows how happy they actually are)
I run my PC without the side panel for cooling reasons, the greatly increased cooling ability is really pushing its space heating hobby. A loose Arctic P12 Max slapped on the exhaust of an Arc A750 makes a great hand warmer.
especially for a guy who completely destroyed a tech giant like Intel. he basically came in, trolled the heck out of the company and took it out of balance entirely and then just walked away with over 200$ million in his pockets 3 years later.
Regarding the Intel suit: as someone who's had to study for multiple securities exams concerning the Securities and Exchange Act, this reads like a sovereign citizen type of complaint. Name a court ruling, bill, or Constitutional section, vaguely relate it to whatever you're complaining about, hope it sticks.
It also sounds like the short-sighted profit-now thinking that got Intel on its downwards trend in the first place. What is Intel supposed to do, only restructure after they're already bankrupt?
The b580 le is pretty much impossible to obtain here now, I'm glad I pulled the trigger on the steel legend last week, got it $479 shipped aussie pesos which is $299 freedom dollahs, so I suppose that's ok.
I just took a look locally and found some Intel cards, a few sparkle, ACER and ASRock cards. The most expensive was about $30 more than the Intel Limited Edition cards. Not real terrible prices but as far as I understand it the Intel B580 LE cards are pretty good even though they have two instead of the three fans on the other manufacturers cards.
@@blahorgaslisk7763 yea you'll find them, all sold out on pre-order. I was going to get an le but yea, they were sold out even last week, so got the steel legend, the extra $30 was fair enough for the larger cooling solution and the testing even here put the power consumption at being the least. Also I was going to get the sparkle instead if I couldn't get the le, that was out too. :(
80s were crazy. Things were built to last. I wish we get to see something like commodore make a comeback. Something you can use for 40 years. I still remember the games I played on Christmas gatherings with my extended family 30 years ago. Now we remember only the games, not the systems we played them on.
I suspect there is more to the story. No way those machines have been on everyday for 40 years - the caps fail. I suspect the owner is an enthusiast. Chips also fail especially in hot environment.
The C64 was certainly NOT built to last, it was built to be as cheap as possible, that's why it was so popular. There are lots of problems with cheaply made chips going bad (especially those made by Commodore themselves). Sure, they made so many of them that you can find perfectly working units that had no maintenance done to them, but that's simply survival bias and none of those rose-tinted, "built to last" nostalgia glasses.
I can't tell you how excited I was when I got my Commodore 64 on Christmas so many years ago. That computer is singularly responsible for my love for computers and my career in IT. I would still recommend it for a kid today as a great way to learn how computers work. With its extended ASCII and Basic, it was very easy to design pretty good looking programs. When the time came to learn assembler, its instruction set was easy. The C64 also taught us something very important: patience. The cassette system wasn't the fastest, even when equipped with a turbo loader. Very fond memories. For those who have similar memories, just look for the TH-cam videos on here for the C64 Christmas Demos. Good times.
I had an Amstrad CPC464, those 80s tape drives were sooooo bad and a lot of the time they error'd due to kinks in the tape or something. As soon as I could I got a floppy drive. That is one piece of tech I do not miss, at all.
Wow, Corsair's response is refreshingly positive. The best response to critical feedback I've seen in many years for a tech company, or frankly any company.
Thanks Steve and Team for that previous piece. Really. It meant a lot to you to make it and it meant a lot for me. On to another great video! I was gonna wait for the alleged AMD R9 X3D announcement/launch for my upgrade, but I figured that a 9900X is still just fine. I really love your guys' consistent work. Install Gentoo when?
Lol not really. It's called training. Even some older (but still in use) IBM-based POS systems can be relatively complicated. Because most of the US is so primitive, most of its supermarkets still use DOS/mainframe-based inventory systems. Training a worker (and paying them well, and offering benefits, and not making them work more than 4-5 days per week or 7-8 hours per day) is quite common outside of the United States... However this isn't often so necessary, because unlike the US, the rest of the world likes getting rid of primitive/inefficient things and replacing them with better things...
@@ahumanperson3649 Yeah, Germany, the country so previously right-wing that the US actually borrowed their propaganda for their backwards medical system and anti-tobacco propaganda, etc. Industry-wise: they provide some of the most BACKWARDS inventory systems like SAP. There's no way they're gonna make an RX 10000 series, that name is too long. Last time ATI, Nvidia and AMD almost reached 9000 they rebranded, (9800 GTX -> GTX 280 for Nvidia and HD 7970 -> R9 290X for AMD). Even when Intel reached 10000 on their CPUs and went up to 14000 have just recently rebranded with their 15th gen CPUs starting over with 100. I'm calling it that AMD's just gonna make their GPU naming way more confusing from here on out.
We need to mandate that the GPU name starts with 24 for the year and 1 to 9 for tier. Maybe adopt the brilliant Intel scheme of a letter to denote the architecture. A249 is flagship now and b251 is entry of next gen. 😂 It's def not less confusing

Radeon had many different names but I'll start with the HD series, you had the HD cards like HD 3000, HD 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000 etc, R3, R5, R7, R9 i.e R9/R7/R5 200/300, R9 Fury, RX 400, RX 500, Vega 56/64, Radeon VII, RX 5000, RX 6000, RX 7000, just to name a few from the last 15 years or so. Most of the R9, R7 and R5 series are just rebranded HD 7000 cards, there was also an HD 8000 series but I believe those were also just rebrands of the 7000 series, the only actual unique cards from that gen were the 290/290X and the FuryX. 390/390X was a rebrand of 290/290X, 280X and 280 were a rebrand of the HD 7970 GHz Edition and the HD 7950, and I think the 270X was a rebrand of the 7870 or 7850 (not 100% sure on that one) If you wanna go back even further they had stuff like X800, X1300/1350 FirePro, but that was before my time of being into PC hardware, and were ATi and not AMD owned. I could keep going but I think yall get my point.
the lawsuit is really stupid and if they win it you might as well scrap the entire concept of a "company" just put names and producs on the market and everyone who invested a penny gets to decide every aspect of the company. Essentially it boils down to "We, the shareholders, hate the fact that Intels Management has made cuts and statements which are needed to get the company back on course and safeguard its existance for decades to come, because those actions have reduced our short term gains" The people suing are 100% of the reasons why intel is in its current predicament. They are the very same people who caused the 13th and 14th gen launches to be premature They are the same people who demanded an over 150% profit marging ever since the 7th gen.

Corsair teaches a masterclass on what to do when a company makes a mistake. The modern world is complicated enough that every company will make a mistake at some point, what separates a good company from a bad one is how they handle those mistakes.
1. admit you made a mistake, and that it was your fault
2. Offer full refund returns
3. Over rebate for those who want to keep their system
4. Offer more customization to work around your problems
5. Outline steps of how you’re working to prevent a similar issue in the future
Well yeah but they also launched a product that was fucking horrible, and hoped they didn't get caught. Still terrible imo.
@@DekarNL I don't understand the corsair hype. They've been "fixing mistakes" since almost every product, from bummed out psu's, to leaky AIO's, and beyond... that's what happens when you rebrand cheap crap.
Corsair is AFRAID of Steve and GN. To not do what they did would have been really dumb. They got caught. Had to address it. Let’s see what they do in future if GN doesn’t grab hold early because they are calling out other products and companies for assorted f*ckery. Time will tell!

"owns 2,000 shares".. .yeah.
It also sounds like the short-sighted profit-now thinking that got Intel on its downwards trend in the first place. What is Intel supposed to do, only restructure after they're already bankrupt?

The steel legend is a beautiful card. Good choice.

Good times.
100% agree that it's a great learning tool. Absolutely loved my C64. Passed it on to a friend's young son.

Yep. Me too. I loved the c64. Me and my brother both played the hell out of it
I had an Amstrad CPC464, those 80s tape drives were sooooo bad and a lot of the time they error'd due to kinks in the tape or something. As soon as I could I got a floppy drive. That is one piece of tech I do not miss, at all.
My first computer, C64.

Will 1000w psu be enough for the 5000 series cards?
Sure for just the card xD 😅
For the system to just boot maybe. You'll need a nuclear reactor minimum if you wanna actually do anything
Definitely not for the 5090 or 5080
Yes, it's plenty, unless the 5090 uses 2 of those new connectors. If it doesn't, then you will be able to run any 5000 series card.
Almost certainly. Ignore the silly children insisting you'll need 1600w to run them.

390/390X was a rebrand of 290/290X, 280X and 280 were a rebrand of the HD 7970 GHz Edition and the HD 7950, and I think the 270X was a rebrand of the 7870 or 7850 (not 100% sure on that one)
If you wanna go back even further they had stuff like X800, X1300/1350 FirePro, but that was before my time of being into PC hardware, and were ATi and not AMD owned. I could keep going but I think yall get my point.
Christmas has been saved. Thank you, hardware Jesus.
If only Intel shareholders had the same energy to sue Bob Swan & Brian Krzanich, as if Gelsinger alone is at fault for Intel stagnating 💀
the lawsuit is really stupid and if they win it you might as well scrap the entire concept of a "company" just put names and producs on the market and everyone who invested a penny gets to decide every aspect of the company.
Essentially it boils down to "We, the shareholders, hate the fact that Intels Management has made cuts and statements which are needed to get the company back on course and safeguard its existance for decades to come, because those actions have reduced our short term gains"
The people suing are 100% of the reasons why intel is in its current predicament.
They are the very same people who caused the 13th and 14th gen launches to be premature
They are the same people who demanded an over 150% profit marging ever since the 7th gen.
