Not really, boxing is extremely cultural as a sport practice compared to others. There is nothing you learn to do that is brutal/natural and it needs to be repeated tons of times before being effective and eventually putting more strength in it. HNI just makes it epic though it is quite fun.

For anybody stumbling on this that isn't a fan of Hajime no Ippo: This isn't the protagonist. Every side character in Hajime no Ippo has depth; and unlike most shounen where you're just waiting for the next big fight, there's no down-time. As in nothing feels like it's meant to be filler for the next big fight. Every episode of Hajime no Ippo is enjoyable. People disregard it because they see 'sports', but of the 513 anime series' I've seen, Hajime no Ippo is undisputed for me in terms of fighting.
Sometimes it might certainly "feel" like there's downtime and filler moments, but the best part is that those moments are both great for character building, and also have subtle moments of "oh shit, this is what I should do" or other personal epiphanies that tie into physical feats and fighting styles. It's one of the few I can think of where every moment significantly ties back into the main story/theme.
I started boxing around 2018 so my brother showed it to me, i didn't give it too much attention until like 2019 and after that i can happily say i'm up to date with the manga and i'm sure i think about it every day. I really love the funny training man and friends

I want to mention that Sendo's rage is definetely the most dangerous and overall hard-hitting type of rage, no screaming, no unbalanced moves, but a deadly concentration, cold-headed moves, a ruthless mind and this fear-inducing, soul crushing stare, the eyes of a predator dead fixed on his prey, you can't take an advantage of it but you damn sure are going to take these knuckles o' his, he's truly a tiger.
The fact he had a good chance of beating sendo till he enraged him by dissing himself and ippo like they said he def had the potential to become a boxing champion but this is life he pretty much got his career destroyed in a sentience
His trainer killed him, this would've been a good fight for experience if he was pulled out of it and learned from it. Even in the manga, you never hear of him again
Still gives me a chill rewatching this, it was the perfect storm of events that gave a glimpse into Sendo's dark side. Dude is a monster if you take him there

Madhouse struck gold on really capturing how fantastical and almost godlike boxers move in the ring. The build up to Sendo's dash starting at 0:41 is gripping, and his second dash at 1:22 is a animation cut I will never forget for as long as I live. This is all amplified by the unmatched sound design of Masafumi Mima as well, really adding industry leading level of depth to each scene. The visuals couple with jet turbines and highspeed car engines is a match made in heaven. Hajime No Ippo, even after all these years is practically undefeated.
There's a big difference between harming your fighter through negligence and harming him through a training agreement between him and his trainer. kamogawa is an excellent coach, he brought out all the potential of ippo
@@jiureful Kamogawa is a good coach no doubt but his gameplan and Dempsey Roll messed ippo up because he took way too much damage in his early fights because of "the get hit and hit style" and then he made ippo become too reliant on the Dempsey roll instead of making him perfect his jab.

This is where a character is cornered and challenged by someone who is dominating them and wanting to break their spirit before going for the defeat but instead of accepting defeat they are ignited by a very intense firestorm riling up inside them to achieve their own victory to not only dominate the opponent that was beating them down but to break them instead and use their dominating tactic against them. Pure goosebumps when that happens :D

1:46..... "Sendo san don't!!!" Shigeta became overconfident. Makonouchi would go on to do something similar to Sawamura... He put that guy in a blender for being dishonorable to boxing and for hitting his girlfriend. Sawamura was a character that was easily unlikeable.
What Ippo did was child's play compared to what afterwards Mashiba did to Sawaruma for the same girl, his sister. Even Sendo's moment here wasn't anywhere near as brutal. Too bad that's not animated. Actual literal and almost successful murder attempt in the ring
