  • This video shows you a quick and easy way of setting up, registering and printing in two colours, using an Adana 8 x 5 tabletop press. We've done this with a simple plate design for the purpose of this demonstration but these principles can equally be applied to a design with a tighter registration.We mention the use of various items in the video and there is a list of some of them below:
    Tympan Sheets - store.lymebaypress.co.uk/prod...
    Base Saver Gauge Pins - store.lymebaypress.co.uk/prod...

    Love this - I love how calm you are and how easy it makes the process look. I also love the ‘real-time’ nature of the video. BRILLIANT!!

    Brilliant stuff, very informative and actually relaxing to watch. Your laid back presentation disguises how much information you are imparting! I just took delivery of my Adana 85C yesterday. The Acetate technique is similar to something I've been doing to position my hot foil dies.

    And a video using an Adana 👍🏼🌟, one day I’ll get a bigger press, but for now the Adana is perfect 👌

    Loved this info... used to have Adana presses years ago doing all sorts of printing but with the advent of computers and printers decided it was a dying art! Now regret this decision and can see with embossing.... raised printing etc there should still be a demand! Now am looking for an Adana, plate maker etc.

    I love your videos, I’ve just bough an old Adana, I’m an old cylinder , platen, gto, mo, and speed master pressman but I’m up in Glastonbury after working Bermuda for 12 years. I’m starting out on my own.

    This is brilliant.
    I’m currently restoring an ADANA 8x5.
    I think mine is the older version, it has a 2 part cast metal base and no flanges.
    It’s great to see one being used.. I still have so much to learn 😅.

    Great stuff, thank you! Can I ask....do you normally stack wet, printed work like that? And do you have any packing under your flexible tympan? And how do you keep so clean? - I would have had ink on every surface after just three prints, especially my face! Thanks for posting these videos, they are really helpful, I look forward to the next one. Can we make requests??!!

    • @LymeBayPress
      @LymeBayPress  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Helen, I do, basically we use very little ink on an uncoated board that we can stack them, the print has a slight deboss which means it doesn’t really touch the sheet placed on top or it. Some designs obviously have more ink on them, when I’m running a job like that on a small press I use one of our drying racks to separate them, but normally on a job like this I don’t have to. Nope, no packing under the Tympan, unless you count the sheet of text that I use to see the print on the flexible tympan. Clean 😂 just relaxed and a lot of practice...print clean means a clean print :)) I’m glad you like the video and yes feel free to make requests, I can add it to the list :)))

    Hi, just came across your channel and really love your videos. I wouldn’t like to start my own press at home, any recommendations on what to start with?

    • @LymeBayPress
      @LymeBayPress  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi There, and thank you. I really depends on what you are looking to print and what budget you have. Size can also be an issue. Many people do start with an 8x5 or other tale press but then realise that they need something bigger, I did. if you'd like to email me at Lyme Bay Press we can have a longer conversation... :) Lis

    wonderful way of printing 2 colors .
    Can I use polyester printing plate or photopolymer flexo printing plate in a Adana press instead
    of using metal letters block or metal plate ?
    Thank you

    Love the content!
    I'm looking at buying this machine and was wondering if the lettering leaves a nice debossed look or if the finished product is more of a flatter finish?

    • @LymeBayPress
      @LymeBayPress  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It all depends on the size of what you are printing and what you are printing on to, the second plate had a deeper deboss because it was smaller and as such the pressure applied from the press was acting on a smaller area. A larger plate would require more force and you would be limited to what you could apply to it on a press this size... I hope this makes sense and helps :)

    • @roykazz3979

      Thank you for the reply :)
      So for example if I were to use a 300gsm paper at A5 size I wouldn't be able to get an impression on this machine?

    • @LymeBayPress
      @LymeBayPress  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Roy Kazz you would struggle, if your paper was really soft and if you had lots of space in your design you may get somewhere. The alternative, apart from getting a bigger press, would be to cut your plate in half if the design allows and print in 2 goes.

    Hi! I have a small shop - I'm wondering if it's worth investing in the equipment to make my own plates OR get someone else to make them for me OR get someone to make all of it (letterpress&plate)?

    • @LymeBayPress
      @LymeBayPress  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the first instance I would get someone else to make your plates, until you are 100% confident with the printing process and making the artwork. Immerse yourself in the whole thing and see what time you have left to make your own plates.. Decent machinery for making plates requires quite an investment for good plates, not something that you want to do if you aren't going to use it lots. There are table top versions which you then handwash, but this isn't a process we use so i can't advise that greatly.

    What size of card we can print on with 8 x 5 adana?

    • @LymeBayPress
      @LymeBayPress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you split your design down, you could print an A5 but reallistically I always say A6 if you are looking for a small amount of impression. I hope this helps
