Sidenote, and very small detail worth maybe mentioning, in TSM under operations/default/posting, you list here the things to copy-paste in as "minimum, normal, maximum' in that order. In the actual TSM in-game, they're a different order, top to bottom "Minimum, maximum, normal" Being the noob i am, i accidentally pasted it in the order listed in the description of the video, into TSM, meaning my normal price and maximum price string got reversed until i realized later. Not sure how important that is but felt like it was worth mentioning
Yeah in game the order is minimum, maximum, normal, whereas in my pastebin it is minimum, normal and maximum. Sorry for the confusion. I'm not sure why TSM has it ordered like that to be honest.
Doubt you'll respond as this is a super old video but how would you go about modifying this sniper string to be used for classic. I got a string off reddit and just took out 2 zeros from each of the prices to adjust it for classic prices but not sure if that works.

First you do eveything on the Default operation, then you suddenly have a new one called crafting sniper with a new string, I tried to copy that but as soon as i add that to your protection group the protection group disappears from the Default operation, seems like I can't have both on the same group, how do I fix this?

have done a copy/past into /macro to switch between 2 profiles, but it will only make sure I'm in Default and NEVER will go over to the sniper profile.

I agree, awesome video. I do have a problem though. I copy past the sniper string and hit enter and it reverts to the default string. I have tried making another operation and it did it there also. This thread is a year old, so i hope you still watch it.
Under settings - shopping/sniper- I have a setting called Buyout Confirmation alert. There is a default string in there as min(100000g, 200% dbmarket) I just wondered if this needs to be changed or not?
This is another wonderful TSM safety feature. What this will effectively do for a newer goblin is pop up a confirmation window on your shopping tab of TSM anytime you are about to buy something that is priced on the AH for more than twice it's value. So sometimes you might be rolling your mouse scroll wheel and not fully paying attention and accidentally buy some stuff that was way too expensive after you've cleared out and bought all the cheaper stuff. So for a beginner, the lowest number of min(100000g, 200% dbmarket), will almost always be using the 200% dbmarket part, it will take a while before you start flipping stuff over 100k, so that would rarely be used in the beginning but you could lower it to 25000g or 50000g but I don't that that should be necessary. I think most people should be happy with the default there. Never hurts to adjust the settings though if your particular play style warrants it. Like if the confirmation window is popping up too much for your liking, change it to whatever risk threshold you want.

How would an operation look like if I want to say: max(100000g, 115% dbregionmarketavg) but never higher than 200k. How can I add a condition to my operation that is saying: not higher than?
Put a sniper operation on there like this: 200% dbregionmarketavg that will show you every single item that gets posted on the AH to get a feel for how much stuff actually is being posted in any period of time. then drop it to 50% and have a look then drop it to 25% and have a look If all that stuff works, then the sniper string also works, it just might be that not much stuff is showing up there very often. Maybe you want to add in some BFA raw mats and have them show up on sniper and flip that stuff. You won't find a lot of stuff showing up on sniper in general with the sniper string the way it is in the video, that's the whole point of it. Most people only want to see the stuff they can flip for 5k+ gold profit per item, those scenario don't happen too often but my sniper set up with capture only those awesome items. You also have to keep in mind that more people are using addons like TSM to post stuff and less likely to make mistakes. Also less people overall playing the game right now, so less opportunities for players to make mistakes for you to grab on your sniper window.
The creaters of the TSM said they arent going to release another version for vanilla. Auctioneering and AUX existed in vanilla but its bad for sniping. Does anyone know of more addons for sniping in vanilla?
Hello, ty for great guide, but i have a few questions. Diring video i noticed that u have diffrent sheymin, sheymax and sheynorm formulas from what u give and show to us - why u have another % there for example before " first(min(DBMarket, 150% DBRegionMarketAvg)" and why dont u use 110% before "VendorSell". where i can know about that more? Also notice that u use 70%avg in filter line in settings/general option instead of dbmarket - can u pls explaine what for and why??
I've found stuff on silvermoon alliance but it takes a looong time before the first item appears each time im scanning and it was so far all in blue percentages. I'll update if I find sth with other percentages too
I followed your instructions to the T, the only thing that i have a problem with is that when i click to snipe there are no items showing up in the window. If i choose to go back to the blizzard UI, i see items in the auction house that showed up, but I can not bid on them or see any regional data.
When you are looking at the blizzard UI while running sniper, those are every single item that is being posted to the last page of the AH, which is the first page of the AH. The sniper string is basically running it's sniper string against all those items and if they match the criteria on your sniper string they will show up on your sniper window. So all those items being posted that you see on the default AH are not matching your sniper string because they are either excluded from showing up in sniper (depending on how you have your sniping groups set up) or because they are a higher price and not actually a good deal so it is not recognized by your sniper string as a good deal. Feel free to try a different sniper string if you like to get a better feel for it. You can use 50% dbmarket or something simple like that and adjust. You won't find many things actually showing up in sniper with my set up, because its only looking to grab the awesome stuff and people don't make those sweet mistakes all that often, which is why I suggest running sniper on the side while you are doing something else. You can go hours with nothing showing up depending on your server and time of day, that is normal. Perhaps you want to set up a sniping group to grab BFA mats that are posted super cheap to flip as well, which is what I do. This is just the way sniper is. There are less and less people playing the game and a higher percentage of those left playing the game are using some sort of AH addon, making is less likely for people to make mistakes. More stuff used to show up in sniper but these days, that's just the way it is now.
Is there any way to get this working with ungrouped items in 2023? I read somewhere you can't use sniper on base group anymore and when i try to run the snipe, it's telling me sniper isn't associated to any groups but it definitely is to base group.
Is there a reason you wouldn't want DBmarketavg in the minprice string? I have had items show up that show as a great deal 29% of dbregionmarketavg yet on my server it is above the average price.

Well done video but did they remove buying mats below matprice? I used to use that in TSM3 very often and do not see that option anymore. If they did remove it, what is the easiest way to add that and make buying below matprice part of my operations? Thank you for your time.
i used to use this setup back in legion, now in bfa i cant get my sniper to work after 100 attempts, been trying with different strings and groups etc, but my sniper just seems to not wanna work. havnt got a single item popup on my sniper past 3 days :(

Is it possible to add something like if region daily sold is lower than 0.04, dont show the item? Another question with example: if i want to snipe spirit of harmony, which has a dbmarket 500g, historical 450g, region matket 400g, but i still want to buy every one them which is under 380 gold, will it show up? Or i need to make a separeta group with a different sniper setting for it?
Sure you can but I wouldn't recommend it. You would be excluding a lot of really good deals. There are lots of items that have lower sale rates than can make you lots of gold. But if you really wanted to do that, just use something like this: ifgt(DBRegionSaleRate, 0.04, SniperString) which works out to this: ifgt(DBRegionSaleRate, 0.05, ifgte(ItemQuality, 1, ifgt(minprice, 250000g, 80% minprice, ifgt(minprice, 100000g, 70% minprice, ifgt(minprice, 50000g, 60% minprice, ifgt(minprice, 10000g, 50% minprice, ifgt(minprice, 5000g, 30% minprice, ifgt(minprice, 1000g, 10% minprice, 0c)))))), 0c))
Thank you, this is working. But it seems i have another problem now. All the items i have, and the ones which are showing up in sniper, they dont ignore "random variatons", so i cnt use the auctioning and the sniper module like this. All the ungrouped transmogs (which one are in the basegroup) have "of the Harmonious" etc after the name.
Is this video still relevant in patch 8.3? Just ran through the setup but the sniper wont pick up anything, I'm on the highest pop realm aswell so I'd imagine there'd be at least something showing up rather than nothing at all

Thanks so much for the video! One question, though. I made most of my profit before from BFA herbs and ores that were listed way below average. They don’t show up at all any more on my sniper, but I can still see some pop up if I watch WoW UI instead. Is there anyway to make the herbs and ores still show up on my Sniper, but keep the rest of the coding?
Did you use dbmarket as your source or fixed prices for your BFA ore and herbs. Set a fixed price for those in both a shopping operation and a sniper operation. Adjust as time goes on. Once dbmarket is more stable, then you can switch to dbmarket. There were some issues with things saying they were gone on the sniper and shopping window on TSM4 but they were really still there on the default AH. I believe that issue has been fixed now.
can you tell me how to set a fixed price for those in both a shopping operation and a sniper operation so that they show up in sniping? I'm new to TSM and extremely noobish.
If you cut off your sniper at minprice 1000g does that not ensure that you will never see trade goods such as herbs / ore / gems? Some of these only have a value of 50-300 gold but people post stacks of hundreds. I've personally sniped 200 stacks which people mistakenly put for 50g a stack instead of 50g a unit. It's pretty lucrative.
Hm, I guess you'd want to factor in the min/avg sell price from your accounting data where possible when dealing with bulk items like this... Not aware of the option to check the volume sold, but I guess when sniping the simple minimum is enough? If it's shit you know will shift ok (and a lot of mats shift real quick) you could start with something real simple like this I guess: 75% min(Crafting, DBMarket, DBHistorical, minSell) When dealing with a bulk market all that really matters if that you're able to shift the shit _reliably_ for more than you bought it for, so really I'd guess it's just about dialing in the % against your minSell or avgSell so you are only seeing stuff worth grabbing. Probably also want your auctioning operation for these groups to factor in what you've paid to protect you from selling too low.
Yep, it's also an issue if you're starting from scratch on a new realm and don't have a lot of capital. I just put the lower limit to 5g and filter out trash by region avg daily sold.
This is the best TSM sniper video. I learn many basics from it, but if we got a new one for classic wow that would be great since TSM just updated and support for auction data in classic, at least share a new groups for classic snipers. Lol

Hi, i've tried this setup for my sniper but i seen to not be getting any results even with prolongued sessions of sniping, ofc in the day time around 6pm-12pm. i have no idea how to make it work, i'm using it on a completely virgin account and following every step.
Since BFA launched, nearly all players are lazer focused on BFA stuff. Also the AH is kinda broken since BFA launch, so people arn't posting much outside of BFA stuff. Once the AH gets back to normal and players get through the BFA content, and BFA market values stabilize, sniper will work much better.
Love your guides, is there a particular value source to use for Settings->SHopping/Sniper -> Market Value Price Source or Buyout Confirmation Alert? My settings are currently set to MVPS = DBMarket, BCA = min(100000g, 200% dbmarket) would this be correct?
That is a new feature and it's awesome. It is fine by default, so it will ensure you never buy something that is more than 100,000 or twice market value without prompting a confirmation window. So many times I accidentally got carried away rolling my mouse scroll wheel and bought something that was way too expensive, this will prevent that from occurring again. You can lower the 100,000g to 50,000g, or whatever limit you want.

Yeah, this video is a set up for more of a traditional sniper set up. It practically ignores items with a minprice value less than 1000g, so most materials would be naturally excluded. So just pop in a group with BFA raw mats and set up a simple sniper operation to the BFA raw mats group, something like 80% dbmarket, and then you can flip BFA raw mats which would be a great idea. If you want to flip old content mats, probably use something a little lower like 70% dbmarket. so what's the exact command in the sniper operation to the bfa raw mats group? is it just "70% first(DBmarket)" or do I need to add anything else to make it be displayed in the sniping window?
don't know if you will respond to me but ive been doing all your stuff you just did but when i press Run Buyout sniper it take hour to find item .. its been 5 hour and still not find any item yet ..
If you are on a low pop server or running sniper in the dead of the night when most people on your server are sleeping, you won't find much at all. Now with the patch, people are coming back to the game for a while, so you should notice it pick up again. Overall not a lot of awesome stuff shows up on sniper anyway. I've explained this a lot more in some other people comments of this video who were experiencing similar things. Check those suggestions out.
when i go to Default>Operations>Posting to set min max and norm price its not copying and pasting ..for example i deleted everything that was in the min box went back to the description box copy and went back to the game to paste after pasting and clicking on normal price everything that i pasted in the min box changes to something other than what i pasted. Is this okay? this is what it changes to.. max(0.25*avg(crafting,dbmarket,dbregionmarketavg,1.5*vendorsell)
Earlier I saw my bid sniper bring up something with 144% as the percentage. Any idea what that's about? From the video I was under the impression the % would always be under 100
Nothing shows up ever? That is impossible if you set it up right. Something might not show up in 20 min, 1 hour or even a few hours perhaps in the dead of the night on a low pop server. Easy way to test is just change the sniper operation to 500% dbregionmarketavg, that effectively will show you every single item that gets posted on your AH in real time, on your sniper window, so you get a feel for how much stuff is posted on your AH in a period of time, then drop it to 70% dbregionmarketavg, get a feel for that, then drop it to 15% dbregionmarketavg and get a feel for that. When your TSM is set up to truly look for those amazing deals, you won't be finding tons of stuff showing up there. I think this is perhaps an issue with expectations. Does nothing really mean nothing or just not as much as you would like. The whole point of this video was to reduce the trash from showing up on your sniper window, so that will lead to much less stuff showing up on your sniper window than you are perhaps already used to, but what does show up, has a higher likelihood of being worth your time to consider actually purchasing.
I really wish TSM4 would allow you to click on the Item in the sniper window and see how many other auctions are priced similar. Most say 1 auction... then checking in WOW default UI there are 8 more at the same price.
If you are uncertain of the market and if there might be others on the AH already posted at lower prices, just shift and click on the item and it will search the entire AH to show you whats there. Sure it will take an extra second or so to do that search and you may lose the opportunity to buy that item, but if you arn't sure and can't tolerate the risk, just do the search.

Level 1 battle pets, just use this: /battle pets/i1/i1 For 350 epics: /armor/epic/i350;/weapons/epic/i350 For mounts: /miscellaneous/mount For toys (mostly toys): /miscellaneous/other Or you can combine then all together if you wanted: /armor/epic/i350;/weapons/epic/i350;/battle pets/i1/i1;/miscellaneous/mount;/miscellaneous/other I was saving this kind of stuff for a video, so keep this on the down low lol
First off, thank you so much for this. I’m curious about something: is there any reason why this shopping string can’t be used outside of sniper? Would it be good for flipping high value items like boe, mounts etc? What would you recommend if not? Also, what shopping operation would be good for trade goods?
How can I prevent from buying an item which has multiple items posted for that price? Like for example, I buy a transmog piece for 500g. It's market value is 1.5k or something, when I go and look at that item there are like 3 or 4 other items that are 500 gold and other items increasing all the way to the 1.5k+ value.
You can't, other than stopping sniper and checking the AH which obviously isn't ideal. If it was truly a good deal, there wouldn't be others sitting on the Ah cheap. Items on sniper that have lower end values with smaller profits, like an item being posted for 500g when it's value is 1.5k, is often left on sniper by more experienced goblins. More experienced goblins focus on items that have more extreme differences in actual posting price on sniper and actual end value. Try shifting away from lower end items on sniper to higher end items and you will encounter that situation much less frequently, if at all.
Having a different sniper profile, does that mean I cant include certain groups with their own operation to sniper anymore? I would like to have a bfa mat group with its own operation added to sniper, which is a more competitive market and needs a better operation than the sniper string.
Is it pretty common for things to have a dip in value that seems volatile? I used sniper with these settings and bought a sword at 32%, went to relist and there were like 4 others at the same price from different players. Historical data showed it valued much higher, and there was a jump after those cleared out. What do you do in this case? List anyway, or hold on for the clutter to clear?
Hey Sheyrah thank you for the amazing guide. I followed it and sniper is running perfect. I am currently having an issue however with making TSM ignore random item stats for mogs. I have set up a group with the ignore item enchants box ticked but every time I try to post anything from that group on the AH TSM seems to just ignore the items in it and says done scanning even though it hasn't scanned any of the items nor has it tried posting them. I've tried looking for a solution online and couldn't find any. Even joined a TSM discord server where nice people tried helping me out but we couldn't figure out what I have wrong on my TSM. Tried doing the same on another TSM profile in case I had messed something up on the sniper one but had the same issue. On the off chance you read this I'd be very grateful for your insight on how I could bypass this problem. P.S if I take the items out of the group it posts fine but it doesn't ignore the random stats so it only undercuts items with the same stats which most of the time aren't the cheapest one for that mog. many many thanks
There are certainly more people having that issue, it's not related to my imports, its just the random enchant/base group stuff, it sometimes acts wonky and I have never seen a solution anywhere for why it works for some items and not for others. Wish I could help but I have no idea. It's a thing though, you are not crazy. I think this problem started when they introduced scaling, it messed up some stuff like this.
my tsm dont find anything.. i put "30% dbregionmarketavg" dont find 1, it try a lot of configurations and never see 1 item on the sniper, i got the desktop app and nothing work.. idk how fix it..
How can i make, that i also get notified about bfa herbs and fish. They are well below the 1000g, so they never show up. But every once in a while people make a mistake or they just want to get rid of it quickly. thanks for helping

Hello Sheyrah, I have a little question: is it possible to create the auctioning operation in a way so it posts auctions at a "fixed price" or a market average based price depending on whichever of those 2 is higher? and how would such a string for the normal price look like?
Max(fixed price, marketavgvalue) so, example max(250g, dbmarket). You can change the fixed gold number to whatever you want and you can change dbmarket to whatever you want.
I did the instructions. some snipes showed up after a few minutes. I bought one that looked, OK (never done this before so I dont know) but it was a low 28% and so I felt comfortable. I decided to go get my item to relist it and see if it was working. I went to go post and it said it was under the market min and wouldnt post. I looked at the other auctions and there are 4 more on the market that are the same price as the one I bought and just a little higher. Do these need to sell first? what if they dont?
Sniper only looks at the last page of the AH, which is the most recently posted items, it does not have a clue about the older items already on the AH. So you bought something you thought was a good deal, looks like it probably wasn't, you wait for the lower ones to sell and then try to sell yours, or just consider it a learning experience and try to recoup as much as you can. It takes a while to get to know the value of items and when something it a really good deal. Eventually you will know instantly if its a good deal to flip, there will be mistakes in that learning process like you just made, so while learning, only gamble with those cheaper items, never buy something expensive to flip unless you are absolutely sure.

First you do eveything on the Default operation, then you suddenly have a new one called crafting sniper with a new string, I tried to copy that but as soon as i add that to your protection group the protection group disappears from the Default operation, seems like I can't have both on the same group, how do I fix this?

Under settings - shopping/sniper- I have a setting called Buyout Confirmation alert. There is a default string in there as min(100000g, 200% dbmarket) I just wondered if this needs to be changed or not?
This is another wonderful TSM safety feature. What this will effectively do for a newer goblin is pop up a confirmation window on your shopping tab of TSM anytime you are about to buy something that is priced on the AH for more than twice it's value. So sometimes you might be rolling your mouse scroll wheel and not fully paying attention and accidentally buy some stuff that was way too expensive after you've cleared out and bought all the cheaper stuff. So for a beginner, the lowest number of min(100000g, 200% dbmarket), will almost always be using the 200% dbmarket part, it will take a while before you start flipping stuff over 100k, so that would rarely be used in the beginning but you could lower it to 25000g or 50000g but I don't that that should be necessary. I think most people should be happy with the default there. Never hurts to adjust the settings though if your particular play style warrants it. Like if the confirmation window is popping up too much for your liking, change it to whatever risk threshold you want.

How would an operation look like if I want to say: max(100000g, 115% dbregionmarketavg) but never higher than 200k. How can I add a condition to my operation that is saying: not higher than?
For hours I have re-watched this and the sniper screen always stays black. I don't know what's up but it doesn't appear to want to work.
Put a sniper operation on there like this:
200% dbregionmarketavg
that will show you every single item that gets posted on the AH to get a feel for how much stuff actually is being posted in any period of time.
then drop it to 50% and have a look
then drop it to 25% and have a look
If all that stuff works, then the sniper string also works, it just might be that not much stuff is showing up there very often. Maybe you want to add in some BFA raw mats and have them show up on sniper and flip that stuff. You won't find a lot of stuff showing up on sniper in general with the sniper string the way it is in the video, that's the whole point of it. Most people only want to see the stuff they can flip for 5k+ gold profit per item, those scenario don't happen too often but my sniper set up with capture only those awesome items.
You also have to keep in mind that more people are using addons like TSM to post stuff and less likely to make mistakes. Also less people overall playing the game right now, so less opportunities for players to make mistakes for you to grab on your sniper window.

The creaters of the TSM said they arent going to release another version for vanilla. Auctioneering and AUX existed in vanilla but its bad for sniping. Does anyone know of more addons for sniping in vanilla?

Diring video i noticed that u have diffrent sheymin, sheymax and sheynorm formulas from what u give and show to us - why u have another % there for example before " first(min(DBMarket, 150% DBRegionMarketAvg)" and why dont u use 110% before "VendorSell".
where i can know about that more?

It is taking the min of DBMarket or 150% Dbregionmarket. It is to prevent that somebody has manipulated the prices higher on your realm

I've found stuff on silvermoon alliance but it takes a looong time before the first item appears each time im scanning and it was so far all in blue percentages. I'll update if I find sth with other percentages too

I followed your instructions to the T, the only thing that i have a problem with is that when i click to snipe there are no items showing up in the window. If i choose to go back to the blizzard UI, i see items in the auction house that showed up, but I can not bid on them or see any regional data.
When you are looking at the blizzard UI while running sniper, those are every single item that is being posted to the last page of the AH, which is the first page of the AH. The sniper string is basically running it's sniper string against all those items and if they match the criteria on your sniper string they will show up on your sniper window. So all those items being posted that you see on the default AH are not matching your sniper string because they are either excluded from showing up in sniper (depending on how you have your sniping groups set up) or because they are a higher price and not actually a good deal so it is not recognized by your sniper string as a good deal. Feel free to try a different sniper string if you like to get a better feel for it. You can use 50% dbmarket or something simple like that and adjust. You won't find many things actually showing up in sniper with my set up, because its only looking to grab the awesome stuff and people don't make those sweet mistakes all that often, which is why I suggest running sniper on the side while you are doing something else. You can go hours with nothing showing up depending on your server and time of day, that is normal. Perhaps you want to set up a sniping group to grab BFA mats that are posted super cheap to flip as well, which is what I do. This is just the way sniper is. There are less and less people playing the game and a higher percentage of those left playing the game are using some sort of AH addon, making is less likely for people to make mistakes. More stuff used to show up in sniper but these days, that's just the way it is now.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want DBmarketavg in the minprice string? I have had items show up that show as a great deal 29% of dbregionmarketavg yet on my server it is above the average price.

i used to use this setup back in legion, now in bfa i cant get my sniper to work after 100 attempts, been trying with different strings and groups etc, but my sniper just seems to not wanna work. havnt got a single item popup on my sniper past 3 days :(

Is it possible to add something like if region daily sold is lower than 0.04, dont show the item? Another question with example: if i want to snipe spirit of harmony, which has a dbmarket 500g, historical 450g, region matket 400g, but i still want to buy every one them which is under 380 gold, will it show up? Or i need to make a separeta group with a different sniper setting for it?
Sure you can but I wouldn't recommend it. You would be excluding a lot of really good deals. There are lots of items that have lower sale rates than can make you lots of gold. But if you really wanted to do that, just use something like this:

Thank you, this is working. But it seems i have another problem now. All the items i have, and the ones which are showing up in sniper, they dont ignore "random variatons", so i cnt use the auctioning and the sniper module like this. All the ungrouped transmogs (which one are in the basegroup) have "of the Harmonious" etc after the name.
Is this video still relevant in patch 8.3? Just ran through the setup but the sniper wont pick up anything, I'm on the highest pop realm aswell so I'd imagine there'd be at least something showing up rather than nothing at all

Thanks so much for the video! One question, though. I made most of my profit before from BFA herbs and ores that were listed way below average. They don’t show up at all any more on my sniper, but I can still see some pop up if I watch WoW UI instead. Is there anyway to make the herbs and ores still show up on my Sniper, but keep the rest of the coding?
Did you use dbmarket as your source or fixed prices for your BFA ore and herbs. Set a fixed price for those in both a shopping operation and a sniper operation. Adjust as time goes on. Once dbmarket is more stable, then you can switch to dbmarket. There were some issues with things saying they were gone on the sniper and shopping window on TSM4 but they were really still there on the default AH. I believe that issue has been fixed now.
can you tell me how to set a fixed price for those in both a shopping operation and a sniper operation so that they show up in sniping? I'm new to TSM and extremely noobish.
If you cut off your sniper at minprice 1000g does that not ensure that you will never see trade goods such as herbs / ore / gems? Some of these only have a value of 50-300 gold but people post stacks of hundreds. I've personally sniped 200 stacks which people mistakenly put for 50g a stack instead of 50g a unit. It's pretty lucrative.
You should be able to create a group for materials and use a different sniper operation for that group, no?
Hm, I guess you'd want to factor in the min/avg sell price from your accounting data where possible when dealing with bulk items like this... Not aware of the option to check the volume sold, but I guess when sniping the simple minimum is enough?
If it's shit you know will shift ok (and a lot of mats shift real quick) you could start with something real simple like this I guess: 75% min(Crafting, DBMarket, DBHistorical, minSell)
When dealing with a bulk market all that really matters if that you're able to shift the shit _reliably_ for more than you bought it for, so really I'd guess it's just about dialing in the % against your minSell or avgSell so you are only seeing stuff worth grabbing. Probably also want your auctioning operation for these groups to factor in what you've paid to protect you from selling too low.
Yep, it's also an issue if you're starting from scratch on a new realm and don't have a lot of capital. I just put the lower limit to 5g and filter out trash by region avg daily sold.
This is the best TSM sniper video. I learn many basics from it, but if we got a new one for classic wow that would be great since TSM just updated and support for auction data in classic, at least share a new groups for classic snipers. Lol

Hi, i've tried this setup for my sniper but i seen to not be getting any results even with prolongued sessions of sniping, ofc in the day time around 6pm-12pm. i have no idea how to make it work, i'm using it on a completely virgin account and following every step.
Yeah I screwed up my TSM up too following this.
Since BFA launched, nearly all players are lazer focused on BFA stuff. Also the AH is kinda broken since BFA launch, so people arn't posting much outside of BFA stuff. Once the AH gets back to normal and players get through the BFA content, and BFA market values stabilize, sniper will work much better.

Love your guides, is there a particular value source to use for Settings->SHopping/Sniper -> Market Value Price Source or Buyout Confirmation Alert? My settings are currently set to MVPS = DBMarket, BCA = min(100000g, 200% dbmarket) would this be correct?
That is a new feature and it's awesome. It is fine by default, so it will ensure you never buy something that is more than 100,000 or twice market value without prompting a confirmation window. So many times I accidentally got carried away rolling my mouse scroll wheel and bought something that was way too expensive, this will prevent that from occurring again. You can lower the 100,000g to 50,000g, or whatever limit you want.
As a new user to TSM4 this is gold. but is the list on the protection group up to date with shadowlands?

Yeah, this video is a set up for more of a traditional sniper set up. It practically ignores items with a minprice value less than 1000g, so most materials would be naturally excluded. So just pop in a group with BFA raw mats and set up a simple sniper operation to the BFA raw mats group, something like 80% dbmarket, and then you can flip BFA raw mats which would be a great idea. If you want to flip old content mats, probably use something a little lower like 70% dbmarket. don't know if you will respond to me but ive been doing all your stuff you just did but when i press Run Buyout sniper it take hour to find item .. its been 5 hour and still not find any item yet ..
If you are on a low pop server or running sniper in the dead of the night when most people on your server are sleeping, you won't find much at all. Now with the patch, people are coming back to the game for a while, so you should notice it pick up again. Overall not a lot of awesome stuff shows up on sniper anyway. I've explained this a lot more in some other people comments of this video who were experiencing similar things. Check those suggestions out.
when i go to Default>Operations>Posting to set min max and norm price its not copying and pasting ..for example i deleted everything that was in the min box went back to the description box copy and went back to the game to paste after pasting and clicking on normal price everything that i pasted in the min box changes to something other than what i pasted. Is this okay? this is what it changes to.. max(0.25*avg(crafting,dbmarket,dbregionmarketavg,1.5*vendorsell)

Earlier I saw my bid sniper bring up something with 144% as the percentage. Any idea what that's about? From the video I was under the impression the % would always be under 100

Nothing shows up ever? That is impossible if you set it up right. Something might not show up in 20 min, 1 hour or even a few hours perhaps in the dead of the night on a low pop server. Easy way to test is just change the sniper operation to 500% dbregionmarketavg, that effectively will show you every single item that gets posted on your AH in real time, on your sniper window, so you get a feel for how much stuff is posted on your AH in a period of time, then drop it to 70% dbregionmarketavg, get a feel for that, then drop it to 15% dbregionmarketavg and get a feel for that. When your TSM is set up to truly look for those amazing deals, you won't be finding tons of stuff showing up there. I think this is perhaps an issue with expectations. Does nothing really mean nothing or just not as much as you would like. The whole point of this video was to reduce the trash from showing up on your sniper window, so that will lead to much less stuff showing up on your sniper window than you are perhaps already used to, but what does show up, has a higher likelihood of being worth your time to consider actually purchasing.
I really wish TSM4 would allow you to click on the Item in the sniper window and see how many other auctions are priced similar. Most say 1 auction... then checking in WOW default UI there are 8 more at the same price.
If you are uncertain of the market and if there might be others on the AH already posted at lower prices, just shift and click on the item and it will search the entire AH to show you whats there. Sure it will take an extra second or so to do that search and you may lose the opportunity to buy that item, but if you arn't sure and can't tolerate the risk, just do the search.
@@Xionik1234 I got burned a couple times. Thanks for the reply. Seems to be an ongoing issues in TSM4 for me. Also tried auctionator and it does the same thing. Shows nothing posted but the default UI shows all of the auctions that are up.

First off, thank you so much for this. I’m curious about something: is there any reason why this shopping string can’t be used outside of sniper? Would it be good for flipping high value items like boe, mounts etc? What would you recommend if not? Also, what shopping operation would be good for trade goods?
How can I prevent from buying an item which has multiple items posted for that price? Like for example, I buy a transmog piece for 500g. It's market value is 1.5k or something, when I go and look at that item there are like 3 or 4 other items that are 500 gold and other items increasing all the way to the 1.5k+ value.
You can't, other than stopping sniper and checking the AH which obviously isn't ideal. If it was truly a good deal, there wouldn't be others sitting on the Ah cheap. Items on sniper that have lower end values with smaller profits, like an item being posted for 500g when it's value is 1.5k, is often left on sniper by more experienced goblins. More experienced goblins focus on items that have more extreme differences in actual posting price on sniper and actual end value. Try shifting away from lower end items on sniper to higher end items and you will encounter that situation much less frequently, if at all.
Having a different sniper profile, does that mean I cant include certain groups with their own operation to sniper anymore? I would like to have a bfa mat group with its own operation added to sniper, which is a more competitive market and needs a better operation than the sniper string.
Pretty sure you can just create an extra group in the sniper profile for mats with its own operation to include mat sniping.

Is it pretty common for things to have a dip in value that seems volatile? I used sniper with these settings and bought a sword at 32%, went to relist and there were like 4 others at the same price from different players. Historical data showed it valued much higher, and there was a jump after those cleared out. What do you do in this case? List anyway, or hold on for the clutter to clear?
Hey Sheyrah thank you for the amazing guide. I followed it and sniper is running perfect. I am currently having an issue however with making TSM ignore random item stats for mogs. I have set up a group with the ignore item enchants box ticked but every time I try to post anything from that group on the AH TSM seems to just ignore the items in it and says done scanning even though it hasn't scanned any of the items nor has it tried posting them. I've tried looking for a solution online and couldn't find any. Even joined a TSM discord server where nice people tried helping me out but we couldn't figure out what I have wrong on my TSM. Tried doing the same on another TSM profile in case I had messed something up on the sniper one but had the same issue. On the off chance you read this I'd be very grateful for your insight on how I could bypass this problem. P.S if I take the items out of the group it posts fine but it doesn't ignore the random stats so it only undercuts items with the same stats which most of the time aren't the cheapest one for that mog. many many thanks
There are certainly more people having that issue, it's not related to my imports, its just the random enchant/base group stuff, it sometimes acts wonky and I have never seen a solution anywhere for why it works for some items and not for others. Wish I could help but I have no idea. It's a thing though, you are not crazy. I think this problem started when they introduced scaling, it messed up some stuff like this.
my tsm dont find anything.. i put "30% dbregionmarketavg" dont find 1, it try a lot of configurations and never see 1 item on the sniper, i got the desktop app and nothing work.. idk how fix it..
try 500% region, you should get tons of stuff showing up, just for testing purposes.

Max(fixed price, marketavgvalue) so, example max(250g, dbmarket). You can change the fixed gold number to whatever you want and you can change dbmarket to whatever you want.

I did the instructions. some snipes showed up after a few minutes. I bought one that looked, OK (never done this before so I dont know) but it was a low 28% and so I felt comfortable. I decided to go get my item to relist it and see if it was working. I went to go post and it said it was under the market min and wouldnt post. I looked at the other auctions and there are 4 more on the market that are the same price as the one I bought and just a little higher. Do these need to sell first? what if they dont?
Sniper only looks at the last page of the AH, which is the most recently posted items, it does not have a clue about the older items already on the AH. So you bought something you thought was a good deal, looks like it probably wasn't, you wait for the lower ones to sell and then try to sell yours, or just consider it a learning experience and try to recoup as much as you can. It takes a while to get to know the value of items and when something it a really good deal. Eventually you will know instantly if its a good deal to flip, there will be mistakes in that learning process like you just made, so while learning, only gamble with those cheaper items, never buy something expensive to flip unless you are absolutely sure.
