Johnny Gill discussed his journey to stardom that began in church at the age of just five. Growing up within a musical family, Gill was often pushed into the limelight by his older brothers and learned to play various instruments. Although he initially considered singing to be a universal skill, being part of the Baptist church, he was eventually called out for his unique talent. The family group 'Wings of Faith,' which he described as a local jam, evolved from another group, 'Gospel Stimulation,' involving his aunts, cousins, and grandmother. The turning point in his life came from a school friend, Stacy, who urged Gill to record a demo. Following that, he gave a telephonic audition to the president of Atlantic Records, with repeated performances to convince him. An invitation to New York soon followed, accelerating Gill's career in music.

Oh snap! Lmao. When I was like 4 or 5 I seriously thought everybody sings or can sing . Until I was by myself 1 day and was singing. And I was like naw! Since that day I've never thought i could sing, or even pretend that I could. Went solo. So low you can't hear me. Would lip sync in the choir. Just move my lips to the words.

Johnny Gill is a legend but I always wonder why these famous people always wear sunglasses in their interviews when they are inside a building talking to others. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
I grew up in Southeast Washington DC off Minnesota & Pennsylvania Ave, Johnny and Stacy grew up not too far from my childhood home, my mom had a friend who lived off 33rd and Ely Place whom we used to visit often and I would see Stacy outside playing like a normal child, this was 1981 after she had top 40 songs, I sure I saw Johnny but probably didn’t know it at the time because he hadn't hit the scene yet, we’re proud of Johnny and his career

A lot of stars was dark sunglasses inside and out. I just don't want to be stared at when you can't see somebody else's eyes can't really tell what you're thinking. Plus they always got those stage lights and and bright lights all the time. Hit them in the face I am a photographer and I do art work and working on video. I have glaucoma in it in one eye. I am 70 years old trying to save those eyes from radiation from the sun people say. Why are you always got your glasses on? Try to look cool. I just started wearing glasses about 5 years ago. If I didn't have to wear them I wouldn't wear them but I can't wear contacts. So hey everyone protect those eyes whenever you can. I have cataracts those lights. Don't feel too good when shining my eyes. Just trying to save them. Thank you for reading this.

@@KatkayzMiche’le comes to mind. Her singing voice isn’t as strong as Gill’s, but her speaking voice sounds very weak, soft, and high pitched compared to the she performs with.
I thought the same. I was expecting a deeper and stronger voice. Maybe Gill is purposely speaking like this to preserve his vocal cords
