This was definitely a struggle video. I laughed my ass off. The wind blowing your bun off, the camera shaking, the light falling over, almost tripping over the fire stoker, spilling your beer. You were for sure out of your element. Oh God, it was all so good. 🤣We luv you CQ. LOL!
I have not seen a rooftop tent that you can enter from the inside-I kept thinking where is the ladder.... That was nice of them to let you try it, and now you know what it's like. I give you a lot of credit for starting that meal at 11:00 PM! I sure would not feel like eating zt that time, but the burger looked great!
Im loving this! Truck, wind mishaps, delicious burger and 5 sec rule! 😂😂 You need to bring your step to get in truck dude. So awesome love that you try cool stuff! Keep rocking and loving our Quady vids😊 ✌️
I’m a truck driver. I’m local but I talk to some of the over the road guys. They said there are times it can rain and rain. They said a pee bottle comes in handy if you are neat with it. That tent totally favors a pee bottle lol. I loved the video. I’m curious about the pop up tent. Honesty I have never seen one of those. How do they hold up in the rain? It would be a nightmare to sleep in something that leaks and you get soaked and are cold.
First time I’ve seen you discombobulated. lol. The pop up was nice, but seemed like a lot of extra work. For who you are and what you do, I think your truck is a lot better fit. I still enjoyed the video. Something about you reminds me of my oldest grandson! He turned 39 on the day of the eclipse. He lives in Iowa. Maybe that’s what it is. Iowa, Nebraska, y’all are all the same to me. Your videos just make my day!😊. I look forward to them!
The ‘Overlaning’ lifestyle is how I envision Inspector Gadget would go camping. It makes sense that it began in Australia because one of these rigs would fit perfectly into a Mad Max film. Thank you Quady for sharing your experience. Oh, I’m pretty sure the pump deflates too.
I don’t think I’d want a tent like that. Seems like it wouldn’t be great in wind and rain. And the crawling up and down doesn’t sound like fun either. But to each his own! Good on you for giving it a try and for helping local business owners.
Yet another fun camp outing, you are right about the comfort you have with your truck compared to this one. You looked uncomfortable. But thanks for taking us along!!!😁❤
I do understand, that is a big difference between your rig and that one. I had a frontier for a company truck. They are way smaller than a F150!! You lived it now. You don’t have to go back!! Lol. Have a great week.
Cool way to camp. But, i think in a thunderstorm i would rather be in the back of the truck than in the tent. lol Could you have brought up those white plates you moved and put them back where they were while you were up top? Make sure your pillow doesn't fall down(just in case) and could have maybe put your camera on them? Just a thought. Fun to see a different way to camp. have a great week ahead!
Another advantage to the side panels is that you can attach a molle panel behind each to hang molle bags on to organize some of the smaller stuff. Or panels like the ones at the front end of the truck bed. Nice rig. Glad you got a chance to experience it, and had some nice weather to camp in to boot!
McFly........was all that came to mind. Dang o dang. Its been windy as hell here too its gas eating wind for sure. I love your rig but that was cool too.
I would agree with you on all your points. I think this type of setup would be better long term or living in full-time just because of the space. I would also think this would be better for a couple as opposed to solo camping.
I love this spot and hope you come back. I liked this rig because you can stand up. You are just really used to your truck and setup. If you tricked it out with all your gadgets and stuff I think you would come to love it. Imagine pushing the bed back, sitting in the back with your chair, and watching TV during winter or the rainy season. Lots of headroom. Thanks
I watch Brian Waters also and as you probably know he has went to a roof mounted tent also. The one you were in is maybe better because you could also go down in the bed of the truck if you needed to cook inside like on a hot plate or fix something to eat with a jetboil. Brian pretty much is limited to cooking outside now. Personally I believe I like your hard shell camper top better. Remember your last episode with the lightning and heavy rain. I would much rather be in your topper than the tent setup. That wind was determined to spoil your supper, lol. Enjoyed the video but like you said it’s different. I would say keep what you have! Happy Travels to you!
Waaaaay too much trouble setting up and tearing down and screw that crawling up and down, I'm too old for all that. Thanks for doing this, it was educational for sure.
I like the setup Brian Waters has on his truck it’s pretty sweet! Seems way less complicated, has the extra storage in the bed with the rails and and the mattress pad doesn’t seem to need to deflate each time.
I am so set in my ways when it comes to camping. I hate change…LOL. First, I was afraid your grate and burgers were going to fall in the fire. When you went to fix your camera I was waiting for your bun to go flying out of the picture again. I hate wind. Call me the paranoid camper! I love my A-Frame camper, but I will tent camp with my Coleman Instant tent in a pinch. I also love my Jackery 500 and 2000. I am binge watching your videos. Old Lady ReRe thanks you!
I used to camp with a sleeper also but switched to one of these types of campers (Harker) on my truck and absolutely love it. In my mind, the ability to stand & walk around during long stormy days/evenings out weights all of the negative aspects. My bed frame is longer than the version you used, and my standing area incorporates the tailgate space (which makes a huge difference). I agree in that tent material is the worst aspect of sleeping, but then again that's what I have been accustomed too for all of my camping life. Love your video's.... keep them coming!
Do not switch bro! Stay with the OG Reggie bruh!! Big dawg CQ !! I’m just a OG FAN been following since you started ! Love your content and love you CQ!!
Hey Quady nice to see you n a different rig. You tuber “softroadingthewest” Donald has a similar setup but down below he built a bench it bed as well so no matter what setup he needed he was cover. He also on the other side built a kitchen n he accessed it from the outside door. And he has a 270 awning as well. Pretty sweet rig!
Thanks for the new content, I always wanted to see what these look like inside. I must say I agree with you it's just not my favorite, I prefer the van life
Ed here, do you ever make sliced potatoes and onions on the fire? Uhm good! Potatoes onions seasoning pepper and a little oil and let it go for about 45 minutes
Hi, im so glad to see u cookin on fire again. It seems like you r back to havin fun in the last 2 videos! Before you seemed to lack your usual sense of humor. Beg changes take time to get used too. Anyways enjoy and thanks for videos😊
Great video on that truck set up! I agree with you with the simplicity of your Ford. I think solar panels, battery operated coolers takes away from being one with nature! Lol!
Good video Mike!! Cool rig, but i still like how simple your rig set up is. I'd need space for myself, and my girl. This camper rig would be awesome. For solo camping, yours is perfect.
If you freeze water in a jug (gallon or half gallon) & put it in your ice chest before you add ice, the ice will keep for several days. An added bonus is the thawed water can be drunk or used for cooking. If you don't have room for that, put a few plastic bowls filled with water in the freezer, then when they are frozen, turn them out into your ice chest. The larger the blocks of ice, the longer your crushed ice will last.
I loved seeing you out of your comfort zone! This video was really good! I enjoyed seeing the different rig and how you adjusted to it! Thanks for the content Mike!
Very cool setup. I definitely like the simplicity of your rig though because as soon as you park you’re basically setup. If you need to leave in a hurry, you just go. I wake up as soon as the sun hits a tent so I wouldn’t like that either

Please and thank you 🎉
Awesome as always, Mike. Thank you for sharing your awesome adventures with us. I'm with you on the tent, once I get used to the hard sides, forget the tent, lol. KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU.
As their slogan used to say "Old Milwaukee the beer with the taste for food" and to this day old Milwaukee is the only beer that I can drink while I'm eating and it not disgust me for some reason I can drink beer before I eat and after I eat but not while I eat unless it's an Old Milwaukee
Awesome video camp/review, I've camped in my Tacoma with my truckshell setup probably around 150 times in the last two and a half years and honestly I sleep better in the back of my truck then I do at home!!! Thanks for the honest review, I see alot of those type tents around and have thought about getting one. But you nailed it; "It's just a tent". Thanks again!!
When it is really windy outside your tripod has a hook on it to weight it down with something that is to 10 to 15 lbs to keep it from falling over. Next times it is really windy tie a rock or brick to the tripod then you will not have any problems. Cool video nice to see a popup tent.
Dude the wife and I legit laughed our asses off when you came back and was like, “well I spent 5 minutes talking with the camera off” 😂
Post the minutes, of that part that you’re talking about so everyone can see

I agree with you. Tent camping is a lot louder than in a truck shell. Id keep what you got. Honestly.
Thanks for leaving the "technical difficulties" (bun down/beer down) in the video, a good laugh because I can relate.
Man it was very nice for them to let you use the truck camper but I love that u spoke ur true opinion… great for u.. big fan!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
Mike, thanks for introducing a different style of camping to us and actually using it! Doing this occasionally would be cool.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'll try to switch it up like this more often 👍
You remind me of a young crazy neighbor….. if you know you know!!!
Hilarious. You are just to dangerously funny tonight. A little dirt won’t hurt you.
Yeah; the hard shell is where it's at!
That was some crazy wind; blowing everything over!
I have a Gladiator with a RTT and I love it. But I camp in the forest and lake side camping with it.
I love the pop up truck very cool.
Oh my.never a dull time with you.your so awesome 😎
TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF!!!❤ YEAH BABY ❤
That burger has my mouth watering! What a sweet tent set up too.
Mike can cook a shoe make it look good! Been waiting for the Crazy Quady illustrated cookbook for some time now!

Check out epic family road trip they have a similar setup on a couple jeep wranglers
I like the setup, but my only concern is after drinking beers and having to get up and use the bathroom and having to jump down and crawl out.
Im loving this! Truck, wind mishaps, delicious burger and 5 sec rule! 😂😂 You need to bring your step to get in truck dude. So awesome love that you try cool stuff! Keep rocking and loving our Quady vids😊 ✌️

Hey crazy my weekend is now complete. Great video as usual. Nice to chill on a Sunday nite watching you. Keep rigging on
Thanks for watching!
It’s a cool rig but I think I like the truck better. That wind was trying to ruin dinner. 😂
Mike thanks for a awesome new video. Me and the wife love watching your videos.
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
Love the new Frontier pro4x, sweet setup for sure👍
Time to get into the camper the wind might blow you away lol
That's a nice setup! I've never been too crazy about the pop-ups. Great video, thanks Quady man!

More of a fair weather rig I think, good in hot weather; not so much in wind, thunderstorms, snow, heavy rain, hail, cold weather.
I’ve had my Super for 2 years. Best money I’ve spent. So well designed.
Holy crap man, your wind had me in stitches..... You're like " Ohhh my Bun " 😭😭😭😭💀

The yard sale at 29:10😂
It's good if you have only a 5-foot bed on your truck. I'll keep my F150 with the 8-foot bed.
Oh for sure, it's a incredibly convenient setup for a shorter bed
Great video! You are honest. You don't like it as much as the hard shell. Cool!!!
You could legit shift the bed back and have a dance party in there 😂😂😂
LOL Man the way you describe the intense suffering of tent camping in the morning..

ps - there's a battery-operated device that deflates the air mattress w/in 1 minute.
His inflator would have worked to deflate also, he didn't know and I didn't check but we both know now 😂

Good video Mike!! Cool rig, but i still like how simple your rig set up is. I'd need space for myself, and my girl. This camper rig would be awesome. For solo camping, yours is perfect.
Well said, it definitely gives you more room for two people
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have done that Before when I’ve been recording
I can see a pop up like this being a great option for festivals
THAT WAS AMAZING THAT HE LET YOU USE HIS TRUCK I BET IT WAS FUN DOING THAT IN A GOOD DAY OUT IN THE SUN
Costco sell fresh packages of ground bison. They make good burgers too!
The pop-up roof tent is a good option for having a truck with a short box.
Great video Mike
Thanks for watching!
@@CrazyQuady Like you said that tent is okay for certain situations but overall the truck shell is much better and much more convenient.

Yeah, there's no blocking out the light like I can with my blackout curtains
I could see benefit in having your regular bed build and then having a popup shell like this just for the standing height - ditch the upper bed setup or only use it as a guest room. Otherwise, I do see this as a decent option for those who have a shorter bed length, but I definitely like my 6.5ft.
