I SO needed to hear this I'm twenty four, I have a four year old, three year old, and I'm five months pregnant with my third, I have two step kids (twelve and thirteen) and my step son and my son have autism, my son (he's 4) threw a tantrum waiting to be seated at Chilli's with our pastor, his wife, and their toddler and 4 month old . I kept apologizing for my son because I thought that was the polite thing to do. My husband snapped at me and said "stop apologizing, you don't owe anyone an explanation and they need to be more open minded and empathize with our son's needs instead of judging us for it." I got so mad, because he was RIGHT.

OMG. I wish so hard I'd had this when I first had my daughter. She was one of those kids who did the head-banging thing. That thing where they bash their own head against whatever surface is available - even if it's the sidewalk. I freaked hard. Her pediatrician (bless her) told me to ignore her - she's not going to do herself any real damage. But the LOOKS from perfect strangers when she would freak out and start banging her head on the cart or the floor? Yeah. And being mom, not wanting my baby to hurt, it was teeth-grittingly difficult to let her do it. But....after a few tantrums of me ignoring it, she started to pause to look for softer surfaces to bang her head... and that's when I knew I could get through it. Thankfully the head-banging thing only lasted a couple of months. But... yeah. You give so much truth, and it's so very needed. Thanks.

Yup had this happen in the middle of a crowded mall, got a lot of eye roll, and I was mortified until another mom passed by and said to me you got this we have all been there and just like that the embarrassment went away

Thank you for this! I seriously had a woman tell me I should leave my kids at home when I grocery shop! At first what she said rolled off me then it started to bug me. So again thank you for this.

I actually asked my kid's doctor once what I should do about his public tantrums and the DOCTOR told me I should just stop taking him out in public -.- that's fine advice until you realize you can't get a babysitter every time you need to run a little errand 😂 (also for real it's terrible advice lol)

Yes! Totally been there. My daughter melted down in Wal-Mart over us not getting cotton candy, going to the arcade, and not having pennies for the cmn thing (You put the coins in and they spin around a bunch before dropping down). Its the early morning with all the other moms who just dropped their kids at school, homeschool, or are also stay at home moms. And many gave those same reactions. I mean, come on. Your kids never melted down in public? PLEASE! Good grief, everyone has had that happen. Why stare, glare, or say anything not nice? I don't get it! My first child, now 8, we would drag him out faster than lightning when he started melting. Now, we tell our daughter, 3 years old, "when you are ready to listen, let me know. But we don't scream in stores and you sure don't deserve any treats, especially cotton candy." Well, we put her coat on her during full death roll and continued to leave (We were already checked out and greasing to the door when she lost it) and got her in the van. And she looked at me with sad, tear filled eyes and told me she was ready to listen. Ok, time to fix the entitled attitude and get back on track. Told her that we don't need treats always, we don't scream and flip in public, and most of all, it's ok to be upset and tell us she isn't happy. But screaming and crying like that? Not ok. Use your words and talk to us.
Now, I'm realistic, i know it's not the last tantrum she'll throw. But, telling her that when shes ready to listen, we'll talk? It works with her. We don't ignore her and don't let her freak in the store, we do try to remind her to keep her volume down and all, but I've learned that fighting them in the midst of meltdown only adds to the drama. If you remind them to quiet down (quiet whisper in their ears, strangely does work with my kids) and offering a hug? Reminds them i still love them, even though I'm not loving their attitude. I've had comments about not being strict enough from the elderly crowd. No, not cool. Its called being a human with real emotions and needing to learn how to communicate. I've seen elderly throw bigger tantrums in public and not get the same looks or comments. And they should know better, they have the vocab to communicate properly. Why is it ok for adults and elderly to act like that, but a child must be shamed right away, told they are awful, bad, or whatever? They are learning!
I say the adults and elderly shiuld be the ones shamed, not the kids. If you don't qualify as a kid, you have ZERO excuse to scream, curse, throw things, and flip in public.

My daughter is 15 now but I can still relate. At this age the only words she knows is yes, no, and I don't know. Normal.
At ten, I told her that we would get to the stage when she thought I was the dumbest thing walking and that I would remind her that this was normal. She "doesn't remember."
    Sigh. This too shall pass.

Aww! I feel that way all the time! I have 3 and my oldest will be 4 next month. I can’t tell you how many people try to tell me what I’m doing wrong or what I need to do in certain situations that worked for their kids. Like ok, I’ve tried that, but that doesn’t work for any of my kids so what now? You are the only one who truly knows your kid, what works, what doesn’t. Don’t worry about what others think about you. You’re doing just fine.

I’m a mom doing it on my own with 3 boys and your videos on those rough days are exactly what I need to remind myself to find the humor in parenting because it’s hard work, but those out of the blue moments of getting random hug from my 12 year old, a “you’re seriously the best mom ever” comment from my 8 year old and the big hugs from my 1 year old followed by cuddles make every ounce of craziness worth it. Thanks for being you. It’s helped more than you know. 🤗

After 4 children I think I still get a little embarrassed. I mean, I don't think about it at the time, I'm too focused on my 6 year old laying on the floor at Costco screaming and thrashing around like she has demons just because I refused to buy a ton of Nutella, while my two youngest hit and scratch each other and my oldest is smelling all the flowers Costco has to offer. But, afterward I swear I'll never take them shopping again because it causes me so much anxiety! But, I have to, that's life. I never know when she's going to flip out though, so every time I leave the house it's like hoping she doesn't go off like a time bomb!

My youngest sibling, Amy, my sister with springy hair like me was peeing on the floor all the time when this video was posted to TH-cam. She peed on the floor when she was 2-3 years old and was born on February 7, '15. Me and my siblings, but not Amy (because she wasn't born at the time), went to City Barbecue on the day she was born. I have one older brother, two younger brothers and four younger sisters. I have a brother and sister with springs and two brothers and three sisters without springs. My older brother is Justin (age: 19), my younger brothers are Leo (age: 13) and Max (age: 10) and my younger sisters are Claire (age: 15), Dorothy (age: 9), Helen (age: 7) and Amy (age: 5). Amy is my sister with springs and Leo is my brother with springs. My other siblings do not have springs.
