You can use multiple RAMs in a PC. And RAMs are produced in powers of 2 16GB, 8GB, 4GB, 2GB. People often uses same type of RAM in 1 build. Like: 64GB is 16GB ram 4 times 32GB is 16GB ram 2 times (or could be 8GB ram 4 times) Yours is likely to be 16GB and 8GB or 8GB 3 times. 12GB would be 8GB and 4GB or 4GB 3 times. Usually, 2 of the same ram is enough so people often don't use 3 of the same type. (If they want more than 2, they use all the ram slot making it 4)

To make use of the dual channel setup. Some have triple or multi (if they’re still even out there, I don’t even know if companies make them anymore for most consumers to buy?), but on average most will be using dual, and it’s easier to just get two of the same and make use of the speeds. Basically, and someone can correct me if I am wrong, but the gist I have from it all is: The channel differences has the memory controller (now normally in the CPU) dedicate different parts for reading and writing different memory sticks. Instead of one part of the memory controller trying to read all 4 sticks, you can just have 2 independent parts handling 2 sticks each. Dual-channel is currently the most common for personal builds, but triple-channel and quad-channel are also available (again, I don’t know if they’re widely available like they used to be anymore as most I see now are dual) The memory controller can only take advantage of the multi-channel setup if the sticks in each channel are similar enough (capacity, speed, etc). If you use non-matching sticks in the same channels, you can still run the PC (if it posts and doesn’t throw the error beep for RAM issues like my old motherboard would do), but problems can arise where you won’t have the highest potential speed with unbalanced memory configs. It’s why dual is often recommended by motherboard companies saying if you’re going to use more than 2 sticks, then use all 4 slots. Also to note: buying kits are often cheaper than buying individual RAM sticks separate. For example: buying 3 sticks where it’s 2 in a pack, and then you buy an extra single one that’s the same, it will cost more per gigabyte than if you just bought 2 kits, so most will go for the option of buying kits.

My first PC had 128mb RAM. But the first PC I ever used? 1mb. I can't imagine going back to those times.

Yea 😢
It's just a joke..
@@b.u.8615 It makes no sense tho LOL. 32GB is the most sensitive choice these days. However I only have 16GB because I assembled my PC in 2020
@Generationalwealth94 probably cuz it's a joke?? Also good for u I have 16gb too it shouldn't be an issue at all at the moment even few years from now we would be safe
@@b.u.8615 Just because it's a joke it excuses it for making sense and having some logic behind it? 😂😂
20MB. 4MB Soldered, 16MB CANBUS ram. IBM ThinkPad 755C

@insertusername132 there is no game that you need more than 32 gigs for. I don't think you've worked with pc's...
