Spending quality time with your daughter is already a profit…you won’t remember the profits and losses but the memories with your daughter last a lifetime…great video Ansel, as always.
Planting is no easy task, Kumander Daot, but the joy of reaping the rewards of your hard work is truly unmatched. It’s a collaborative effort between you, the investor, and the farmers. Congratulations, KD, and may God bless you and your family with an abundant calamansi harvest. Have you considered co-cultivation? It’s a great way to enhance sustainability and profitability, especially in a tropical region like Agusan. Crops like coffee, legumes, root crops, and coconut could be excellent additions to the area. 😊
I was reading about this, I think legumes and root crops are better because they will help control the grass and are nitrogen fixers sometimes. One thing I noticed with calamansi is that it doesn't like competition and it certainly doesn't like shade - and they do not grow well near coconuts. But I will test things once the calamansi is fully established.
Hello there kumander" I am a silent follower of you, you make me laugh a lot. I saw your calamasi farm on this vlog. Watching from vancouver. I could sense you're quite disappointed about the profit, dont be" I'll tell you what, you probably don't get it at the first crop or the second one but I'm telling you on the third onwards would be abundant for life. Calamasi is a precious and always will, so please go on and thank me later. Me and my husband will be retiring in 18 months and we'll be coming home to philippines. I'm from cavite and hubby is canadian. We are planning to buy a farm too. So please don't give up.
Actually I am not too concerned about the profit right now because this is still early days! At least it is only 600kg and not several tons this time. But it is good to realise early on that this is how it goes with the marketing system. I am happy to see the size and juiciness of the fruit!
Your first harvest after 2 years has to be satisfying. Your little girl is a sweetie and will keep you grounded and encouraged. Best wishes for continued success on your farm!
Congrats Kumander on your first harvest. A second fall back option is to make it into other products such as concentrate so that you will not always be dependent on the prevailing farm price.
... Congratulations Kumander. Maybe in the long run you may consider processing your Kalamansi into juice concentrate so to add value and prolong the shelf life of it. You may consult food technologists to help you out. I can recommend from our university here in CDO.
Awesome bountiful harvest for the first time picking calamansi. You have a huge plantation. Hopefully, you will find a buyer who will take them at a higher price. Good morning! Kumander Daot, I have been following you for a while now and enjoyed your videos of virgins, or unvisited pristine beautiful places by the outside world other than the locals of the area. You have taken some of the beauty and scenic places on your drone while traveling. I'm surprised that you have not garnered more subscribers on your channel not many foreigners have gone and taken fantastic photos/videos of daily lives in that part of the Philippines, where even locals dare not to go. Some areas are still questionable concerning safety, especially for foreigners. Good on you. You have done that and well well-liked because you can interact with them knowing that you can speak their language. On a side note your daughter is a smart kid. Hopefully, you'll find another buyer that can pay you more for the calamansi.
Wow! I haven’t commented for a long time. So happy to see how healthy your calamansi farm is. 600 kilos for the first harvest is good. Congratulations, KD.
FIRST HARVEST at your Calamansi Farm is a mighty special feat, KumanderD!! The 1st of many! What a proud and EXCITING moment for you, Niehl's family, and the farmworkers. CONGRATS to all! ... Great to see NIEHL and LILLY with you -- to share in the FRUITS of your labor. ... However, we didnt see your brother-in-law. Where is he?
This is the second time i have watched your vlog and today i watch it as you are harvesting your calamansi its a good rhing to know that you are a foreigner who fell in love in the Philippines and now you are becoming a farmer here. I am also a farmer and i advocate for organic farming i have a few tress of calamanci too and i would say they are a great help. Technically calamanci is an endemic species found in the Philippines but due to government lack of support and neglect of this crop our neighbouring cpuntries such as Thailand and Vietnam are niw the leading countries when it comes to producing billipns of billions of calamanci harvest annually leading them also as the leader in calamaci products such as juices, extracts, lemonade and venigar. Did you know that those countries have learned their skills in calamansi production because they have trained here in the Philippines by Filipino experts but look what happened? I wish for your success farming is fun.
Don't worry about the profit from the first harvest, Kumander Daot. Reaching this milestone is a blessing; enjoy it, and there will be more to come in the future.
It is great to see your family on this video, this is one aspect that is worth watching because it shows you are a great family man and we Filipinos love that!! Congratulations on your harvest Anselm, and looking forward to more videos on the screen!! Great job, the year has begun and new beginnings❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You should find factories/malls/individuals who are producing calamansi products like juice/drinks/soaps/lotions/restos and sell your calamansi to them. You could also make calamansi icecream and become the pioneer of producing calamansi icecream/sherbet in the Philippines.😊❤
KD, there are cooperatives who have calamansi processing plants for calamansi concentrate and juice. They might be interested in your future harvest. Best of luck and happy farming!
Not mentioning weather and other uncontrollable conditions, Remote Area farming's success is generally dependent on trustworthiness and skill sets of the farmhands. Congratulations Kumander D on a good harvests!!
Great first calamansi harvest, Kumander Daot! Congratulations! 😊 Calamansi is always in demand especially in the Philippines. Where ever food is served like grilled meat, fish, etc. there is always the calamansi, bird's eye pepper, soy sauce and vinegar. Wishing you success in this new endeavour. All the best!
wow awesome. I agree with you that farming is hard. That's why many small farmers here in our state of Michigan closed their farm. My husband is a farmer too.
Kumander study how to bottle the juice, you can sell it for a way better price and you can export. No need to sell to market if it is at the lowest price. You can even buy from other farmers. Just a thought coz here in the US we are buying calamansi on a bottle.
@Kumander Daot I am so happy for you. You look happy and satisfied. Don’t worry about the money. You will find it. Finding contentment with what you’re doing, now that’s priceless.
no worries about the price, calamansi tree keeps on producing fruits in a multiple produce, its a blessing everytime we see flowers blooms in every tree, it means peso is everywhere.
Congratulations, KD! Your harvest is very well-deserved! Here's hoping for more sacks of Kalamansi soon, ideally during high price season! I hope Kulas can use and maintain your fishpond while you’re in Agusan! :)
