A very effective teaching method for beginners.
Hola----How do you generally structure your week? Do you have set routines for each day? For instance, do you do movie talk one day a week for the period? Sorry, I know it's a lot of loaded questions. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Joel, it varies and it depends on what I am doing. I don't have a day for one thing. It changes each week.
Does going through the story before viewing it ruin the fun surprises for your students? I LOVE movie talks but I never tried showing them an embedded reading pre-viewing the short film because I feel it would take away from their engagement with not knowing what is going to happen. Though I now see the great benefit of having become familiar already with the vocabulary for discussion/interaction.
My embedded readings don't give away the ending. They never ruin the video for the students, on the contrary they give me the vocab I need to be able to narrate the story so they can enjoy it.
I love this! Do you have materials like the embedded readings all written up to buy in TPT? Or a book for teachers?

No es fresco es crespo, en mi pais Peru usamos ese termino pero es usado en sur america asi como ondulado que signific alo mismo. Otra sinonimo para liso es lacio.
Where do you get the videos? I like these activities.
TH-cam. The possibilities are endless. You have to spend some time browsing for things that fit your classes though.
1st time through, is it after or during embedded reading #1 and do you recommend using screen shots of still pictures or segments of moving video using screen casts? (That FIRST time?)
First time through is while reading embedded reading #2. I always go with showing fragments of the video and pausing it. I don't have time to do screen shots for all the movie talks that I do, and really it does not make any difference.
Where do you get the readings from?

Hello Cash, My school works on semester system, so I see my students every day for an hour, for a semester. These are first year Spanish students and we are two months into the semester here, about 6-7 weeks of class when I do this specific movie talk.
@@learningthroughreading You stuck with the same story for 6-7 weeks?! Wow. That's between 1,800-2,100 min of class with one story. I have not stuck with a story that long before. Have you adjusted this time at all since then or stuck with this plan?
@@messengerofgoodnews No! I never said that! What I said is that I do the Movie Talk of the video after 6-7 weeks of classes. That is like 5 stories. I take three classes doing a story and 2-3 more doing follow up activities.
