So I made a video regarding why I wouldn’t recommend the M2 iPad Air recently and there were some comments claiming I shouldn’t judge a product before I get hands on with it, which is fair, and so guess what? I now have the M2 iPad Air…and my thoughts haven’t changed. Let’s delve into my review.

Great video 😊
I iPad Air 4 is still alive 😂
Haha yes, and still a great iPad!
If people would actually buy a product based on only on reviews then we would all have a 2 tb iPad Pro 13 inch 😂😂
Which reviews are recommending to get a 2TB iPad Pro lol?
I agree with you, and I've been very tempted to pick up an M1 Air ($399US on Amazon as of today) but have decided at stick with my mini 6 until I see what's new in the future.
Fair enough! I’m certainly looking forward to WWDC and hoping there are big changes in store for iPadOS 18
@@SaranByte Ditto for me
I get what you are saying, but if you don't want a refurb or older model, then the M2 Air is a sweet setup at $599 for 11''. I am not a big fan of the 13'' but that is also another thing to consider if you are looking for an iPad in a larger size. This give you this option without the over priced M4.
Yeah it’s not a terrible iPad at the end of the day like I said in the video, but it doesn’t offer the best bang for your buck imo. Though if people feel the extra for the M2 model is justified then they defo wouldn’t be unhappy with it.
Wil 3rd party pencil work witj M2 ipad air
I have a third party pencil for my iPad Air 4 and it works great
Nice 👍
i am a digital artist and at first i wanted to get a refurbished ipad air 4th but i came across the m2 air and felt it would be better for my creative tasks such as procreate, illustrator and clip studio paint, and ram plays a heavy factor when using these apps cuz i use alot of layers in my creative process. I wanted to know if it would be worth going for the 11" m2 base model, its just a 100 dollar difference with the air 4th 256gb? i dont live in the US btw so the M1 256gb is still pretty pricey
In your situation get the M2, if M1 is still pricey. As you said you will benefit from having the additional power and RAM, but also you get the superior Apple Pencil Pro.
@@SaranByte thanks for the response. I ended up finding an M1 iPad Pro instead (2021) off Apple refurbished and ordered that 🤝🤝
@@callmemk2460 oh nice! That's honestly the ideal choice, especially since it has advantages over the M2 Air whilst coming at a lower price
The M3 won't be going into anything else - TSMC had massive production issues and low yields on the process M3 was on, same as A17Pro which is why we have M4 already and A18 going into the base iPhones this year!
Fair point, but it does make the M2 Air a tougher sell since the M1 model performs very similarly for most tasks
@@SaranByte from memory M3 also ran a little warmer? Could be wrong.
I have an M1 Ipad Pro 12.9---and am thinking of future--we'll see if Air is in the mix then--also have a 2018 12.9 Pro (battery issues but totally useable).
Yep these iPads last forever, your M1 model should even be fine for the next 4-5 years. I’m guessing by then the Air will have OLED, which would be nice.
@@SaranByteonly if it sticks around
@@Zaidoesstuffyou think they’ll eventually discontinue the Air?
@@SaranByte I think they might, with it not being much different from the base model.
The M2 version is only $20 more, I'll splurge.
$20 more? The M1 Air is often on sale for $399
@@SaranByteNot everyone lives in the US. In my country it’s around $60 more compared to M1, and with education discounts the M2 is around $10 cheaper
@@Hellohiq10 that’s fair, I’m based in the UK and my demographic is mainly American, hence why I focus on those markets. But ofc I am aware it varies per country. I will say however - the M1 will likely keep dropping price, the M2 just launched and so when retailers try to clear existing stock, you should see huge discounts. Also remember going refurbished/used is an option with M1.
64GB for £599 on the M1 was bad, So I see the M2 as worth buying now at 128gb The m1 air are still over £500 on Amazon,
I agree the M1 Pro was a good deal at £749 when it was current, but vanished from sale new soon as the m2 got launched plus they was more money.
The new M4 is very nice just seen one today but it’s priced too high,
The basic iPad won’t get many more years support,
In the US the M1 Air is $399, so I’m sure the UK market will catch up. Costco often does sales on older iPads as they clear existing stock. And do remember right now you can get the M1 11” for £549 which has quad speakers, 120Hz and Face ID.
In terms of the 12.9” M1, it will come back in stock. I saw it was in stock a few days ago, now it’s not but that’s how Apple refurbished usually is. They go in and out of stock. I agree M4 is not worth buying at the current retail price unless you really want OLED.
The iPad 10 is still a decent buy but yes software support will be limited, I’m guessing it will be updated soon
Totally agree with you mate and the only reason to get the new iPad Air is for the 13 inch model!
It matter what old iPad that person have
Even that isn’t a great deal compared to a refurbished 12.9” M1 iPad Pro imo
@@saharajohnson6481even if you’re upgrading from a much older model, going for an M1 iPad Pro/Air is the better deal
@@SaranByte agreed
@@SaranByte the last iPad I have was IPad 2 my mom get me a iPad 2 for my birthday one year that was long time ago
People who are still buying it regardless
(Like) Yes I liked my own comment bcs I am
Lol yes true, but I’m simply offering my opinion and take on a product since I want people to get the best value for their money. You can gladly agree or disagree with it, that’s fine.
Replying from my m2 11” it’s worth it lol
I mean hey I never said it was a terrible tablet lol, it does the job and I’m glad you like it - I just believe the M1 is better value, but that’s just my opinion 👍
@@SaranByte not at all. M2 is notably faster even in daily usage like app opening time, web browsing, etc and much closer to the ipad pro performance
Plus you get better wifi, better Bluetooth connectivity, more software updates being newer, double the storage, better accesories and ofcourse the front camera position...
So you did the opposite makes the whole video pointless
The only big difference is the 128GB 😂 it’s about time
Yep that and the landscape camera are the only notable changes, but they’re so minor that I would still rather save my money and go with the M1 lol
Depends if you’re a creative or use the iPad as your main device. The hover and upgraded pencil are game changers. Plus there’s more storage options. I do which they had 16gb options like the Pros do
@chidorirasenganz ofc there are edge cases where you might benefit from having the M2 model, but I still believe for the large majority of consumers, you’re better off going with the M1 Air or another older iPad.
