This lack of new IPs definitely is reflective of the aftermath of the pandemic that set back game studios plus the increase cost to make triple A titles from big publishers. If you don’t include sequels, I agree there is a lackluster line up of new games
I think one of the main problems in gaming is that games (similar to movies and tv) have become so insanely expensive to produce that each AAA game cannot be a flop, therefore they have to make the most safe bet possible usually making sequels or remaking old ideas that already worked. Most companies can’t afford anymore to experiment since games are so expensive they have to make games that most people will “like”, they can’t afford for a single game to fail come each one takes so much more time and money then ever before

@@NicEeEe843 this is such a good point. I’m hoping because of this the use of AI and generative programs will help smaller creators and indie devs create more ambitious projects that would otherwise need bigger budgets from triple AAA studios to help balance out the landscape in the long run.
