Hi Adam, living down south and having done course and sea fishing most of my life I find sea fishing very addictive, I'm lucky enough to be on the Bristol channel so fishing is good and varied up and down the the coast and over into Wales. Good to see you out and about on the coast, there's some great sport to be had, my only observations being, the bait showed would do 3 to 4 baits, when the hounds are about a little bit goes a long way. A live shrimp is deadly and catches anything that swims, aids casting distance as they are small, and best of all are Yorkshire's popular price, hooked once through the body, head tied, tail still able to slap in distress, as for keeping them alive obviously an aerated bucket, but a wet sock, or hessian sack works great too! Lastly rather than a J hook on top of the pennel, a 1/0 or 2/0 circle hook is the way to go and what hooks most bites on that rig, personally I prefer a 2/0 short shank, and as you are a Kamasan man! B940's. When colour in the water is limited as it was, a night shift is the way to go, just keep at it and they will come. For the future if you do get obsessed, check out dongle rigs, something you will understand from hair rigs, as they are very much gaining popularity as the hook point is always available. all the best and tight lines.
