    Just stumbled on this video and it's exactly what I needed to see today. As someone trying to pivot their career from Graphic Design for Mobile Games to Concept Art at age 36, I get discouraged a lot trying to break in. A lot of good advice in here! Much appreciated!

    Aww can't believe I lost the opportunity!
    Great video as always Tyler! Portfolio has always been quite the headache, I first tried to create a background painting kind of Portfolio, but I believe now my page is completely geared toward illustration, which is the field I currently work in, I'm working to update it asap, I've started taking classes with a more of a hearthstone approach to painting and I really want to showcase it.
    Thank you so much for the tips!

    Oh wow, thank you so much for taking the time to review my portfolio, it really helps to get directed feedback! I know that some of my classmates have been curious about expanding their portfolios beyond our class assignments, so I'll be sharing this video with them as well. Thank you once again! :D

    Hey! I’m sad I didn’t get to be one of the select few, but this was still a very very cool video, and a great opportunity! I loved all the points you hit, and I’m 100% going to use them in my portfolio. I really appreciate it, and hope you make another sometime soon.

    Hey Tyler! Thank you so much for choosing my portfolio to go over! I really appreciate the feedback you gave, I wasn't entirely sure on what I wanted to pursue and my portfolio showed it. I wanted to go into a broad field so I'd have a better chance of getting a job. If I were to try to go into visual development should I keep my portfolio as is and just organize it more around a common theme or interest? Thank you again for the tips!

      Summer-Lynx is remove a lot more of the up close portrait based illustrations if you go that route. And do more layouts and prop breakdowns.

    Hi tyler! Thank you for this portfolio tips! It's really helpful👏🏻Actually i really love to build environtment and i wanna go to visual development world for my career. Till now i just enjoy drawing with stylized style.
    I just wondering, Is that okay if i just exploring and focus in just the stylized style for my portfolio? Or i must to make some pieces of realistic style?
    Thank you again for the tips :D

    Great video! What is the kind of extra content Patreon gets for a video like this?

    • @TylerEdlin84
      @TylerEdlin84  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shibino so for this one I really break down the differences between visdev, illustration and concept art portfolios. I show examples and how to curate the content for them. Then I end with breakdown the skill sets to prioritize for each one. It adds an extra 26 mins or so to this base video.

    This is exactly what I needed.
    Just one question: How many pages should a Portfolio have? Or to reprhase: what's the minimum pages You recommend? Thanks

    • @TylerEdlin84
      @TylerEdlin84  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      René Gado think of it as pieces rather than pages. Illustration should have 12-15, concept 15-25, vis dev 10-20
