Sara..I really liked the way you conducted the interview..I had noticed before in different vlogs, but today you really shined..you go girl. Not everyone feels comfortable I front of a camera and very feel can make their guests comfortable to answer questions . You also made the whole interview go so smoothly telling a cohesive story that anyone listening can relate and get involved. Great job🎉

That was very interesting, particularly Sasha's comments about how how much low hanging fruit there is, easy fixes that could make a big difference. She is doing amazing work. I laughed at her comments about nesting platforms. I live on the coast of Maine, USA, and we have many navigational bouys in our rocky coastal waters. Nearly every one has an osprey nest on it and we joke about how nice it is of the federal government to maintain this extensive nesting program for the ospreys. Sometimes in a tight channel one passes within 10 feet of a nest and the ospreys couldn't care less. They fish in front of my house constantly and do close flyovers with their catch when returning to their nest behind my house. And occasionally we get to watch an aerial battle when an eagle tries to steal their catch. (The eagles are spectacular but I always root for the osprey!)

It's heartbreaking to reflect on how dangerous life can be for these brave migratory birds, why would anyone hurt them for sport, etc. is appalling. I am doing my best by feeding birds in my back garden, they're such a joy even though feeding them is something I can barely afford in this economic climate but they bring me so much joy

She needs money for her church renovation and I suggested she have a sale of all of the extra items she has received from people and put it in a fund for her church that needs a lot of restoration. Sarah and Steve are running their home in a different manner and making it a very cultural spot, which is very nice and doing it themselves, no workers staying with them. They are creating a great cultural hub for their community. Whole different type of business.

@@darlenechandler2403 the money from the gift openings always go to charity. She won't use that money for her church . She does have a small shop on site as well. To each their own.

Hope that this lady can attend one of your writing workshops and get a start on that book she needs to write! We love our birds here in SW Wisconsin USA and maintain a 2.5 acre prairie on our land to help them. In the winter, the birds are attracted to our bird feeders and suet cakes. Continue to do what you can in your area of France. As I am writing this, I hear the chirping of birds.

As a bird lover I enjoyed this video so much.
I live on the garden route in South Africa and used to work for an electricity company.
We had to comply with standards to ensure our lines and structures did not cause unnecessary losses to species that were in danger of dying out.
I remember that we placed yellowtags in areas to discourage birds from flying into our structures.
Even at home I try and provide plants that give food and shelter and provide water.

This was wonderfully interesting. I've never really been into birds all that much, but since moving to Pipers River, Tasmania 17 years ago (6 acres) and building our house here I am totally amazed at the wildlife we see. Because we are not farmers we do not have the same "feelings" towards the wild bunnies and 'turbo' chooks (our native Australian hens, thus named because they run like the clappers!) We also due to funds, have been slowly but surely managing the land, it has water issues. My husband has been digging trenches the old-fashioned way with a shovel and wheelbarrow!! It's taken years but it's starting to really pay off. We have a big dam which houses platypi! I had never seen one for real in the wild and I get to sit on my front deck and observe them sunbaking on the edges of the dam on the warm days of winter and through the summer. I like less the contact with the infamous Tiger Snakes, the fourth most venomous snakes in the world I think. However, they are fairly people-shy, GREAT!!! and usually rack off at the first sign of you, unless you engage and then they can be aggressive in defense. This is not something I've put to the test. But we get all sorts of colourful forrest parrots who love to come and eat the grass and our fruit trees in summer (we have had to invest in covers for the trees_ We get sea hawks, kookaburras, swamp hens, sea eagles, rosellas, cuckoos, plovers, forrest ravens (not crows) herons which love our dam, ducks (migratory) willywag tails, sparrows, starlings etc And possibly a few I've forgotten to mention, but I didn't even know what half of these looked like in real life before I moved here. It is so easy to become separate from the natural world in the city and to feel apart from it. Engaging people even in a small way with our natural environment has a beneficial effect on them and on nature.

@@conservationwithoutborders5116 We had our own business in Newcastle NSW and it was doing very well but we could feel the global financial crisis coming and we wanted to be debt free when it happened. We really wanted some acres somewhere nice, not too remote, and having lived in Tassie for two years in the early '90s got married down there, we thought, yes we will go back. Turned out to be the best move ever. After 10 years of IVF, 3 months after we moved her we conceived our only daughter, who is the delight of our lives and is about to head off to University next year to do a Computer Design and Gaming Degree. I must admit I never expect to actually stay here for 17yrs, I have never lived in one spot for more than 5yrs, but as places go it's pretty perfect.

Local farmers are going to be given more water rights, from what I hear, which will dry the wetlands further, if I understand the situation. I believe it is a UNESCO heritage site, so a UN ambassador working for migratory bird conservation should have an impact if they aren't already in touch!
