Thank you everyone for the nice comments :) We are very much enjoying our stay at Sara and Steve's. We feel like a little family with them and Sofiane. For the people asking, we are landing in Melbourne the 1st of September and will look for a job there. Clem is a professional pâtissier - chocolatier and looking for a pastry chef job in a bakery or café. Sven has a PHD in biology and looking for a job in research. And of coure we are also looking for a place to rent in Melbourne. A lot of you guys seems to be from Brisbane and we would be very happy to visit while we are in Australia!
I believe the shrub with the pinky/peach colored flower is a Quince. You. Oath are so fortunate to have such wonderful volunteers to help. The furniture is lovely. Great find👌🥰🙏
@@joanbrack4616 Many varieties are indeed Chaenomeles japonica. Loads of plants have "japonica" in their second name if they originate in East Asia. Quince is a spectacular old friend of ours.
Darkening the wood on the furniture will certainly compliment the fireplace and the fabric is light in color enough so it can handle a bit darker woof. Great find! Is it time to call in an electrician? Oops! Great looking burgers! Good job everyone!
You can also use chalk paint with water on the fabric if you wish to change the colour and refresh the fabric. You can see videos on how to do it on TH-cam.
Love your new furniture...it really fits the room nicely. The white bushes are what is known as Bridal Wreath here in B.C., anyway. I love it and I have one that is over 40 years old...a real show piece now! They grow pretty big, but lacy and when they drop their very tiny petals in the breeze, it looks like fallen snow...don't plant them too close to the entrances. Actually, we're experiencing the exact same weather you're all having in France...the South Coast, Vancouver area is mimicking your weather, but no snow here!!!! I love watching and listening to your helpers, what a blessing they must be!
My Bridal Wreaths are pretty big now too and take up a lot of space. Their branches drape very gracefully, the blooms last several weeks. Excellent choice, but not in the location you chose.

Another hint is to use newspaper 3-4 layers thick under the straw (or any mulch) to prevent weeds. It will biodegradable in the course of a year. For a wide spaced planting like this another option is to use cardboard which will last a couple of years. With grounds the size of yours you want to minimize weeding! I mulch with compost so I am always renewing the soil as well as retaining moisture and suppressing weeds.
Hi Sara & Stephen, such wonderful volunteers. Congratulations on getting your visas for Australia Clementine & Sven, all the best! Nice to see Elske and look forward to seeing more of her. Glad you got your power back on! Love the furniture, it looks good in your room. Thank you for sharing, take really good care, stay well. Much love Kathy x 💖

I loved this vlog, wow you got alot done with the help of the volunteers with their amazing skills, and I loved the furniture it is lovely and looks very comfortable, can’t wait to see the next vlog♥️👍🏼
The furniture is looking great in the space and looks so cozy. I bet it feels great to get the trash out of the way, like a huge purge letting the building breath. I am getting excited to see everyone's gardens in full bloom. All the chateau owners are busy getting things done. Those burgers made me hungry LOL 😊 The volunteers are awesome!

Morning Steve & Sara, the chateau was extremely busy with lots going on. The furniture looks great, I am sure many happy hours will be spent in there. The volunteers are so nice, just going about their business helping and organising. The trip to the nursery was lovely, well chosen plants "for now"! Hopefully not too much sun on the hydrangeas or else the flowers will burn. It will be a beautiful show when they are more established, which will not take too long. The food is absolutely amazing, and the burger buns looked wonderful. Cannot buy that quality. It is good to see so many people living together helping and no issues. I am sure you will agree, making France as your final destination for a lifestyle was a excellent choice. Many happy days (year) Kind regards

Hi Sara, just to say that it's really easy to take cuttings from Hydrangeas, you can even take some from neighbouring plants ( it's not really stealing !! ) My ones have all suffered from the frost so despite their having really taken off I'm going to have to cut them back down again. Next time you come I will give you some lemon geranium cuttings that took last year as they are great for warding off flies and nastiquoes !

The pink shrub is Quince possibly an ornamental variety. The traditional variety has a hard fruit that makes quince jelly and cheese.
Yes I believe it is Quince. Sadely not the one that produce the fruits. I love to make Quince jelly!
We call that a Japonica or flowering quince here in Australia and you can make a fine pink jelly of the kind you strain through muslin from its fruits

The hydrangeas can easily be grown into more by cutting leaves and starting to root them. Check TH-cam for exact details or ask at a local nursery.
It's the plan in the future but for now they are babies and too fragile to take cuttings. Maybe next year!
