This is the real rusty old engine, and need to be refresh the engine,back to life. You need a wd40
The metal brush is truly a magical tool. You did an amazing job restoring this highly corroded engine. After seeing the first footage of this video. I thought there is no way one can salvage this rusted piece of metal. You proved me wrong. I tip my hat to you. You must have cut your hands a few times with bush. However It was worth it.

Nice job I had loads of these in 1990s on the fields,bought my first for £15 it lasted years £1.50 filled the tanks, BTW its a cub 90 not a cup 90👍

maybe rust remover
There were a few things he could have used but it was most likely MC-51 Rust Remover (or something like it) and the brush looked like a basic wire brush wheel installed on a grinder.
