I love my rigid boxes, especially now that they have the 2.0 and just started making drawers

I have those same Ridgid boxes. Bought them almost a decade ago because DeWalt, Milwaukee, Flex, Ryobi, and Klein didn't even exist yet. Last year on Black Friday I went out planning on upgrading to the Milwaukee system. I came home with more Ridgid boxes because they were still half as expensive even with Milwaukee on sale.

This Black Friday?? Packout was like half off, I was planning on buying more ridgids and ended up trading them in for packout.

I bought RIDGID Pro Gear 2 last year at the HD and it works great for me. Like the removable handle that goes on almost all the boxes. Now that they have drawers that are wall mountable and stackable covers all my needs. Great vid!

Hello again, Vince, Vcg and Norm

Hi Guys!!!! Thanks Vince for checking Norm's toolbox setup! It's been a long time since the original video on his setup. I appreciate looking at a toolbox setup that's been used in the real world for several years. His toolbox setup is holding up well and still functions great for him. It's a testament showing that you don't always need to keep up with the latest, greatest toolbox technology when something already works and is reliable. Hey Vince, are you still using your Husky Pro Rolling Tool Bag?

Norman is the reason I use these boxes and I love that he uses so many cheaper tool brands like Kobalt hammers, craftsman power tools and so many others I noticed. He shows that you don’t need all the latest and greatest over priced nonsense to get the job done. Keep up the good work Norman!!

I have had the original Ridgid wheeled box for ten years or so. It has been to three continents and racked up more flight time than most people, and the wheels are just now wearing out. I bought the new one, and though I miss a couple things about the first box, it's a good followup.

I still have my Ridgid boxes 8 YEARS LATER !!! The wheely box handle doesn't go up easy and doesn't go down. The latches always fall off. The labels are completely scratched off and faded. But I still use them daily in HVAC.

The 2.0 system is very nice. Our company recently loaded up on them and the drawers are so much higher quality than any other system out there, even Milwaukee, yet only $119. Just hard to find right now.

Greatest thing about the original rolling box was the button on the handle. No one else had that. I'm pretty sure the 2.0 has the button on the back like the others.

  • @chriscolameco6850

Gen 1 and 2 aren't compatible. Also they didn't go on sale for Black Friday. And the drawers came months later than expected. I literally traded 90% of mine in and got packout this winter.
Ridgid is better for bulky stuff, the "XL" box is the most cubic inches per dollar you can get. And I love how you can put the dolly on any of the boxes, so you can use it to organize bulky materials and just roll them in.
The only reasons I switched to packout were
    1. The backwards compatibility issue.
    2. The much smaller/more compact organizers
You can't attach the crates/gen1 boxes to the gen 2 boxes. And they still sell the crates, but not the gen 1 boxes. Which is infuriating.

I have five boxes two of them are the original generation and the other three are too and they all leak. The smaller OG box which I use it for nothing other than storing batteries and battery chargers does not leak often. GE one and two mid sized box in the original just now started leaking, but the GEN two started leaking four months after purchasing it then I have a second generation cart box with the removable handcart, and it just started leaking in that box I keep rigid impacts, rigid drills, rigid, Skil saw. Rigid saw all and I cannot for the life of me figure out where they’re leaking from because the seal seems to be tight

@VCGConstruction Side latches, I hate them. They're IMO outdated. We now have better options with a variety of other boxes to choose from... And if someone prefers side latches, their are better options like Dewalt or Flex.

    • @slinkytrips
      @slinkytrips 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@d.sack2727 , those side latches were always the weak point of this system, with a heavy load the lids would compress creating less tension on the metal latch. Without that tension holding the metal latch in place they would flop down causing the boxes to separate. Ideally they need some sort of spring mechanism to keep the tension on those metal latches.
