Try cutting the onions next to a lit burner on your gas stove or having a lit candle nearby when you are cutting onions. Our Thanksgiving dinner turned out wonderful. I got up at 5 am and started by making the cornbread for dressing. The turkey was in the oven around 5:30 am. I was planning on having it ready at noon, so our daughter could eat before she left for work at 3. I sent her with some leftovers as she works at a Domestic Abuse Shelter and they had a last minute client with no plans for Thanksgiving. I ended up getting it all done by 11:30.
Thank you for sending food for the victim. I belong to a women's service organization, Zonta International (www.zonta.org) & one of our main service/advocacy initiatives is supporting women who are victims of domestic violence. So, I always have a warm spot in my heart when I hear about someone supporting & helping a victim... that's so caring & giving of you!!!
@@joshoemaker64 I love helping. I used to work at a popular discount store and I would get the store to collect toys for the school Angel Tree before Christmas, in the summer we would collect school supplies, and in the Spring we would collect food and supplies for the Nutrition center for the elderly. It was a win win for the store and the school. Unfortunately, since I left, they haven't collected anything. So sad.
Excellent video!! I love watching your holiday videos 😍 I can’t wait for the new content in your new house!! The turkey looks perfect, as does everything else...
I like you made and love the green bean casserole dish. Absolutely delicious!!! But I use the frozen string beans (steam in bag-nuked) Soooo Much Easier cutting down on both time and dishes. 🖐🖐
A wet wrung out dish cloth under your cutting board will keep it from sliding while you are chopping. And a lit candle nearby when cutting onions helps with the tears. The flame burns off the fumes before it reaches your eyes.
Yeah, i love your family warmth. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Kimmy. Every year in this season i wait for your videos. I enjoy it and also i get some ideas and recipes from you for our Islamic holidays and festivals. Thanks for sharing.
It was nice seeing you all together having a lovely time. Food looked amazing..well done you for bring it all together. Have a well deserved rest now..x
Did you have Gernan Christmas carols playing in the back ground? I speak fluent Gernan first generation born in the US Miss my parents so much they both passed away within 6 weeks of each other last year along with my brother all passed away within 3 months My Mother and Father were a Opa and Oma too so glad to see you cherishing the time with family I would give anything to have them back again God bless
Everything looked super delicious. Happy belated Thanksgiving to your family. Glad that you all had a great Thanksgiving with your family. Great video as always. Thanks for sharing with us!
we used all paper and plastic. Since it was just me and my husband. we have a great clips here in Texas. How do you make shrimp dip?? I have so many gravy boats from old times.
Hi kimmy! We dont celebrate thanksgiving here from where im at but I always look forward to your thanksgiving video. Your menu planning, prepations and most especially on the day of thanksgiving, I love it. Happy thanksgiving! :)
Great Job, Where do you keep all those dishes hiding!! I want some server dishes Just don’t know whereI would keep them, as there only used at my place 2 times a year.. Your glassware/ crystal is Beautiful Thanks for sharing!! I Love getting to see Kalli She looks Like she’s enjoying being home 🙏🏻🤗😘 Now it’s all about Christmas 🎄🎁🛍🥳🥰 Take care Shey
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!! We had no power for Thanksgiving so we put it on the barbecue our turkey it was very delicious!!! We eat by candlelight it was so awesome!!! Your turkey looks delicious..
That turkey is a thing of beauty! One tip I have for you (you may already do this), before filling your gravy boats, fill them with hot water and let them sit a few minutes. It keeps your gravy much warmer during the meal. I never use plastic cutlery here because a dear 'adopted grandmother' gifted me with beautiful flatware, service for 24, to which I've added another set of 12. If I didn't have that, I'd be on those Pioneer Woman plastics in a hot second! Could you possibly post a link to the service calendar you are using? Would love to do this with the gkids next year. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season!
Every year, through out the year I express how much I enjoy your family and the dinners and events. Once again "I loved it". I make deviled eggs too. I have never tried to make the eggs in the instant pot. I might try it for Christmas. The Danish Kringle is so good!! I haven't tried the almond one. Your table looked amazing as usually. We got the Pioneer Woman cutlery. We watch the same movie on Thanksgiving and usually "The Ref" and Home Alone I, II and III on Christmas Eve and a Christmas Story. This Christmas is another family favorite. Great times with your loved ones. Thanks so much for sharing your family with us. You inspire me to cook more from scratch and use my kitchen gadgets like my Instant Pot and Crock Pot. Thank you for being YOU!! XOXO Happy Holidays!!
Denise Baird Probably fewer dishes to do? My family is huge and we often used disposable plates on holidays to ease in clean up since there were already so many dirty dishes from cooking.
little trick I was showed years ago when cutting up Onions to keep them from making u cry soak them in a bowl of water 2o mins . prior to pealing and cutting them up it gets rid of that strong smell that makes you cry!
We watched “Christmas with the Kranks” 2 nights ago, and National Lampoons “Christmas Vacation” tonight. Can I have some of your energy? Wer’re having my husbands family of 20 on the 22d for Christmas. You, your home, family and food, all look wonderful!
Did I hear new kids on the block Christmas in the back ground!? Yes!! Hope you and your family had a very blessed thanksgiving! And I hope you did good black Friday shopping!
All that food looks amazing! I used ur tip about putting the deviled egg mixture into a ziplock. That made it so fast to fill the eggs! Why didn’t I know about this years ago?
Love your turkey. Can you make detaild video how to smoke the turkey. (Like what temperature, how often to baist, how long to smoke, ect...) For people like us. We never smoke the turkey and try your recipes but its didn't turn out good. After 5 h outside turkey turn dark we removed from the smoker but its not ready yet I try to finishing in the oven and its end up big mass. Good thing I have another Turkey just in case if the smoke one didn't turn out good. I wish I would find in deep details a video for beginners.
Kimmie I loved how you called the green beans peas LOL. The meal looked so yummy, now I cannot wait to use the leftovers for other meals. Happy Thanksgiving.
I made your shrimp dip, and it was a hit! You're right, it does taste better the next day. I did it the night before, and it seemed salty, although I went light on the salts. Not one bit salty yesterday! I boutght Ritz pita crackers (or chips?) The Garlic & Herb was good with the dip, but the cheddar was amazing! This will also be part of our Christmas. I also sprinkled in a little cayenne. Not enough to make it hot, but just a little. Thanks so much!
Kimmie and Dereck. We smoked our turkey this year. OMGOSH. Smoked is the way to go Hope you all had a wonderful blessed holiday. Blessed Be you all thanks for sharing
Your amazing I hope your thanksgiving was amazing mine was awesome and everyone slept good from all the good food lol enjoy your thanksgiving kimmy god bless you and your family
I use Mrs. Cubbison's Traditional Seasoned Stuffing every year. We love it! I usually prepare it in a baking dish so I can get a crispy top. We like a drier stuffing, so I usually cut the broth by 1/4 of a cup. I never thought of making the stuffing in the crock pot. That's a fantastic idea! Thanks! It looks great! Did your family enjoy it? Have you made it this way before? I'd love to try this on a non-holiday first, just in case it doesn't work for us. What a great looking turkey! Everything looked amazing! Happy Thanksgiving All! :D
What type of smoker does Deric use? Could you please tell how he smokes the turkey? We tried our 1st smoked turkey this year and it was a total fail. Thank God for backup plans lol.
You set a beautiful table Kimmy 😍 When it's just our family we don't get fancy. We have other years even used fancy paper plates and napkins but real silverware is a must. Turkey looks amazing! Great job Deric 👏🙌👍 The wings look so crispy and delicious. Thats what I eat on Thanksgiving day. Even when we have chicken, I'm just a wing girl. It looks like you enjoyeed the food, t gf e family and the festivities. All the food looked scrumptious. What desserts did Deric's mom bring? Happy Thanksgiving Hughes family God bless you all and I love each & every one of you ❤ XOXO
I know I am looking at this so late - I think I did see or originally. Question...you have some kind of yellow squash in a casserole - dish - what kind is it and how did you prepare it. We are big squash people here, but I have never seen that before. thx
Oh my gosh I'm laughing so hard at you cutting onions! Yesterday for our stuffing I cut onions and I swear some onion sprayed in my eye. I was jumping and crying! Happy Thanksgiving
Wonderful vlog as always Kimmy, I click like every time before I watch!!! I couldn't look when you were cutting your onions! Then I looked up and you were crying for 'real'. As soon as I saw your board move I thought oh no Kimmy's going to loose a finger!!! A wee damp cloth under the board and stop a loyal scottish friend from having heart attacks!😂 xxx

@@shesinherapron oh ok lol thank you. You guys did so great. It was beatiful. Family time is great. im dying laughing at you now cutting onions .😂😂😂 And yes men!!! 😣
An old trick I learned when cutting onions, when my eyes start to burn...I take clean hair, either my own or one of my daughters & rub my eyes with the clean hair. It INSTANTLY stops the burning! Weird I know...but it really works! Make sure you use a clean hand. Try it next time!

I am curious as to why you frequently use disposable plates and cups in the house?
Denise Baird Probably fewer dishes to do? My family is huge and we often used disposable plates on holidays to ease in clean up since there were already so many dirty dishes from cooking.
jmm_2104 same here. With a huge family gathering it’s easier. It’s about being together, not what you ate off of.
For big dinners like Thanksgiving enough work goes into the meal and cleanup without having to worry about plates and silverware too.
That turkey was absolutely gorgeous!!!
Looked like one on the cover of a Good Housekeeping magazine 👏🏻

Can you do a video about what all to do with the leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, stuff like that? I already plan to make turkey noodle soup (I use the recipe from your channel and it is amazing!) but have no idea what else to do. We have tons left over!
Michelle Elaine, you could have a leftovers dinner party with friends. Everyone brings their leftovers & eats together. I have relatives who do this & they have a blast.
HootOwl Holler we actually just moved to a new area, so we don’t know anybody to do this with. But that’s a really great idea!
Leftover turkey can be made into burgers, meatloaf and curry quite easily... And the carcass can be used to make broth.
Mashed potatoes and veggies can be turned into bubble and squeak or a corned beef hash.
You could layer your leftovers in a pan and freeze them for a freezer meal, you could make turkey salad (same ingredients as tuna or chicken salad), you could use leftover potatoes for potato pancakes. Those are some things that I've done with my leftovers.
