So many arguments about how it's cheaper to just go and buy them from mcd's, yet failing to realize that making them this way you also avoid the other 15 or so ingredients they put in them. At least in Canada I believe it's around 15, including chemicals to bleach the colour out and preservatives. So not only do these have the same texture as mcdix fries, they're also much healthier.
If some people didn't try this recipe because of the corn syrup, you can use honey as a substitute. Also, I made this myself and it tasted very well, I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about making some. (By the way, even after adding sugar and the honey, there was no sweetness in my fries as far as I could tell, it tasted perfect)
They got unevenly colored because he did not shake the basket to move the fries. I worked in hamburger-bars for many years and I have a fry clock in my chest. I just notice I wanted to shake the basket. I never thought of that you actually always do that, to separate the fries from each other. When you lift the basket, shake it or better bump it on the side again to get rid of excess oil. For crispy fries, take them away at once; for softer ones, let them hang over the oil for a little bit of time, for maybe 1/2 minute. Salt them far away from the oil, cause salt bumps on fries and end up in the oil and make it turn black.
I just made this and let me just say, this is not McDonald's fries, but it is pretty damn good and pretty close to it. Really time consuming, but well worth it. Thanks for sharing this. And to the people who said that it would be cheaper to just buy it from mcdonalds, you must be kidding. A sack of potatoes cost only about 4 bucks, mcdonalds fries cost 2-3 bucks and takes about 2 potatoes to make. In a sack of potatoes you get about 20 pieces each maybe more. For the price of two large fries you could buy a sack of potatoes and make about 10 times the amount. Plus it is fresh and you do not have to take a chance on it being fresh. What could be better than that?

Here in India, there's a traditional recipe called potato pakoda that is quite similar to french fries and i guarentee you, it will taste a lot better.. Trust me, you will love this a lot better

I can't wait to try this. I think the biggest mistake people make when frying is not getting the oil hot enough. Keep in mind that that the temperature of the oil will drop when you put the food into it. If the oil isn't hot enough the food absorbs it and becomes soggy and no matter how long you leave it in it won't get crisp.
*TIP* When you do the Sugar/Cornsyrup thing, put in 1 1/2 Tablespoons of Vinegar in too. It will give them this bite and make them slightly more golden :)
This recipe is 100% perfect I just made it and works even better than macdonalds fries by far. Instead of corn liquid i added honey which worked perfectly This guy knows exactly what he is talking about Excellent outcome 👌 👍
A freír! A comer!
Hello, I air-fry those varieties of store-bought chips that I make in my home so I air-fry them for about 22 to 24 minutes until it reaches even more crispier so I love those textures that are crunchier and even crispier as well. Thank you so much!! ❤
mcdonald's fries have a beef flavoring added to them, originial McD's fries were cooked/fried in beef tallow, before tranfats seed oils became popular. if you want a REAL McD's french fry..skip the sugar and fry in tallow.
i love this french fry guy and how in the end he eats the fries one by one, so intently, lost in his own little world. he clearly doesn't like the overcooked nub fries at the bottom of the bag. i'd crush those nubs if i had a bag of fries, i love the nubs, but he daintily avoids them. interesting. and he's about to straight-up suck the ketchup out of the packet when he notices the camera. but he doesn't get pissed about the camera. instead he seems benevolently amused. french fry guy is the best. i imagine he was left at the alter by his fiance when he was 26 and has ever since lived the life of a gentle, eccentric bachelor with a childlike heart. he probably was a high school language teacher. he knows french, spanish, german, latin, greek, dutch, and russian. he could've gotten that phd from columbia and become a famed linguistics professor, he knows it, the talent was there, but he was too heartbroken by the fiance thing to go forward with his studies at the time. so instead his career consisted of a 10 year tenure at St. Mary's of Good Council Catholic High in Rutherford, Pennsylvania. now he's recently retired and is finally allowing himself to indulge in the finer, more frivolous things in life, like having a small bag of french fries every afternoon at exactly 2:30 pm before going to the park to sit on a bench and read and watch the pigeons. then off to the butcher shop where he purchases a single lamb chop, which he sears on the skillet later that night while listening to melancholic love songs from the 1940's. he pairs the lamb chop with a side of broccoli and sits alone at his dining room table eating and reading. nothing to do after but sleep, and as he slips into unconsciousness he reflects soberly on what his life could have been like while simultaneously appreciating the humble, secure, generally pleasant (albeit slightly lonesome) nature of his present existence.
For everyone complaining, just make the first 4:39 minutes of the video (a store bought amount) Put the fries on a bag and put them on the freezer. Now u got em for when ever and it's quick.

Anyone who knows McDonalds fries, knows that they are not floppy after being cooked, like the ones in the video. If you watch the video closely when he picks up the fries, they clearly are not stiff on the outside like they should be.
LifeWithNae That's the key. We don't know how they taste by watching his video, but we can determine that the fries don't have the classic crispy tough exterior that makes them stiff, but soft and tasty inside. One would assume that since his fries look floppy, they might not taste identical, since they are not identical in all respects. When he says "McDonalds Fries", he should mean identical in all respects, otherwise he would need to say they only 'taste' like McDonald's fries, right?
1stPlaceDirector I believe McDonald's is not a gourmet food restaurant . Who cares if they are floppy, they better than McDonald's retarded greasy fries. These are just fries who cares, you can make them or buy them from anywhere. Also the reason why McDonald's fries are stiff is because they are some stale fries kept in the freezer for around two weeks or a month.
Um I disagree. I've always had floppy fries from Mcdonalds. The only fries that weren't floppy were normally just made but a few would be floppy. Burger King doesn't have floppy fries tho.

Cane syrup, Brown rice syrup, Maple, Honey, there's a ton of options. I generally prefer adding a mix of maple syrup and soy sauce, but I'm weird that way, and like teriyaki everything. ^_^
If your fries are better than McDonald's fries, then you really have something. It's likely that your opinion is biased though towards your own cooking. If your fries are indeed 'better', you could be a millionaire. I hope its true.
after you fry first time round, can you re freeze and cook when you need them?Just thinking of making a massive batch and than using them when needed??
Minion Tanner is it free to buy potatoes? and not everyone got a fry thng in his house.. and you need the knife thing and kitchen paper.. it isn't free huh.. MCD is a better place to go if you want fries i think..
How to make McDonald's fries: 1/2 Cup of wood shavings 3/4 Cup of insect dung 1/3 teaspoon of urine Bake together with batter and EXTRA grease. There you have it! :) Try this recipe at home!!
Ok I just tried your French fries for my dinner today and I followed exactly the way as you said.. I must say they turned out well very tasty and crispy it is a keeper thanks for sharing.
Crunchy sweetness? Never ever ever in all my years and I mean to tell you that's quite a few.. have I ever had McDonald's fries and tasted even the slightest bit of sweetness. Never! What the heck is McDonald's doing down under??
After rinsing the starch off the fresh cut fries, the last bath I add vinegar and let them soak for just a few minutes and then drain and pat dry before frying. THAT is how I make my fries crispy. Not by Nickos method. ick!
I agree with you I live here in Australia and I have never tasted any kind of sweetness!!! I dont know what this guy is on about his taste buds must be out of wack...

BEAUTIFUL! I love the technique of the more neutral highlight around the jawline... the only thing doll is the highlight is too light for your beautiful skin tone. I would keep it no more that two shades lighter than your foundation, and probably a different undertone. It was just too white, but overall beautiful outcome. For photoshoots this would probably be very beautiful for the camera! Many celebrity artists do dramatically light/bright contour for photoshoots. Also your forehead is not big at all... I don't know why you think it is but please know your forehead is fine and you are gorgeous! Don't let the hateful comments on this video bug you.
I tried one potato just because I was bored and it turned better than MCD fries 😊 and i didn't have any sugar or corn syrup so I just put honey! And it was amazing
ummm. you can order fries that are frozen from a company that produces McDonald fires and then just fry them and they are done, they price is nearly the same as if you were to make them yourself. (they come in a large box, you'll have fries for 6 month unless you're a freak like me who finish them in just a month.
HOLY F*CK BATMAN!!! I just made these fries at home and I must say.... WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they really do taste Great.... Just like McDonald Fries.... Thank you for their secret formula, Nicko's. :)
Don't worry about taking the french fries out and then cooking them twice, . I find it easier if you just keep it on low for a while ( my English "chips" that are as thick as about 2~2 ½ French fries or similar to a wedge, they take 9-12 minutes at 230°F then turn up to 320-350°F for 5-8minutes, depending on preference. They come out fluffy and white inside like how a skinless cod or bass fillet turns from transparent to opaque white when cooked . I don't use sugar or salt because it can cause immature browning, just rinse with plenty of water If you want the best fries watch (search for) "Heston perfection - chips" to get inspiration from his bizarre techniques.
Why would i waste my time buying all those ingredients, preparing the fries when mcdonalds is down the street and in 2 minutes I can have the real Fries O.o. Anyone agree?

Just made these tonight and Omg they are delicious 😋 highly recommend you try this recipe

Hey, listen to this. Let's sing it, boys!
what can you use instead of corn syrup ? please let me know
Cane syrup, Brown rice syrup, Maple, Honey, there's a ton of options. I generally prefer adding a mix of maple syrup and soy sauce, but I'm weird that way, and like teriyaki everything. ^_^
***** thanks a lot !!! :) i have only the availability of honey and soy sauce ill give it a try , thanks again
You're quite welcome. ^_^
JUST MADE THIS..CAME OUT JUST LIKE MCDONALD FRIES BUT BETTER.

If your fries are better than McDonald's fries, then you really have something. It's likely that your opinion is biased though towards your own cooking. If your fries are indeed 'better', you could be a millionaire. I hope its true.
I loved this video thank you, now I can make fries at home! :), but one question what if I don't have any corn-starch will it still com out the same?
after you fry first time round, can you re freeze and cook when you need them?Just thinking of making a massive batch and than using them when needed??
You forgot three ingredients to make them EXACTLY like McDonald's french fries.
1. Trionzementadiophosphasose
2. Weird green liquids
3. Horse shit

you could just go to mcdonalds during that whole time and not have to clean anything up
But is that free i don't think so
It's not as clean and healthy then doing at home
Minion Tanner Lol :D
Minion Tanner is it free to buy potatoes?
and not everyone got a fry thng in his house..
and you need the knife thing and kitchen paper..
it isn't free huh..
MCD is a better place to go if you want fries i think..
KingSizeKnightVideos But it's less healthy, and who knows if they dropped it and picked it back up.
How to make McDonald's fries:
1/2 Cup of wood shavings
3/4 Cup of insect dung
1/3 teaspoon of urine
Bake together with batter and EXTRA grease. There you have it! :)
Try this recipe at home!!

Ikr they are never sweet
Shelli RK how did they turn out?where they good? like mcdonalds fries?

Nicko's Kitchen hahaha

doesn't matter if he did or not, when you make fries at mcdonalds, they arrive at the store in bags, frozen, ready to be fried
+Hersch S Have you been smoking the chronic? You cant do deepfried stuff in the microwave, or well you CAN but you wont have any good results compared to the real deal.
+Hersch S He stated the reason in the video. Microwaving will give you mashed potatoes. You need to deep fry using proper temperature.
LOL
Um
I tried one potato just because I was bored and it turned better than MCD fries 😊 and i didn't have any sugar or corn syrup so I just put honey! And it was amazing
This did not work , they tasted exactly the same just took 3 times longer
Ash A oh thanks.

How did you get the recipe?
Ye how did you
+Chihuahua Lover 101 You must go to the Super Market then buy 2Kg of Potatoes.
You forgot to make them using genetically modified potatoes. Using those potatoes allows them to be 20 years older for shelf life preservation!
ummm. you can order fries that are frozen from a company that produces McDonald fires and then just fry them and they are done, they price is nearly the same as if you were to make them yourself. (they come in a large box, you'll have fries for 6 month unless you're a freak like me who finish them in just a month.
go to mcdonalds and ask from where they get their fries. or you can try looking it up on google. its different for every country and restaurant owner
+marcuspvxea they won't tell you
Ts Eliot no they do. if they refuse to you just have to reply with that you would like to know because of health reasons.
Please give me a link where i can by such fries?
Ace Of Spades they use maccains fries
can you store a large quantity in the freezer for later use?

Sugar and deep fried? The side dish with diabetes and obesity on the same plate
Only if you don't workout
why didn't you put a litre of salt on each chip?
FutureRetroGaming Lol have you ever heard of a British person before???
Don't worry about taking the french fries out and then cooking them twice, . I find it easier if you just keep it on low for a while ( my English "chips" that are as thick as about 2~2 ½ French fries or similar to a wedge, they take 9-12 minutes at 230°F then turn up to 320-350°F for 5-8minutes, depending on preference. They come out fluffy and white inside like how a skinless cod or bass fillet turns from transparent to opaque white when cooked . I don't use sugar or salt because it can cause immature browning, just rinse with plenty of water
If you want the best fries watch (search for) "Heston perfection - chips" to get inspiration from his bizarre techniques.
you forgot the chemicals. lol
Your right
EVERYTHING is chemicals.
Nooo. Water is a chemical. H2O, Dihydrogen Monoxide, Hydroxyl acid. Or water :)
YAHUSHA MY MESSIAH Taste good
Lmao 😂
I love how the cooks over react about there cooking

Why would i waste my time buying all those ingredients, preparing the fries when mcdonalds is down the street and in 2 minutes I can have the real Fries O.o. Anyone agree?
McDonalds doesn't use preservatives on their fries.
You are a stupid human being. You are complaining about your time wasted but you took the time to click this video and type this comment thus making yourself waste time
at least you actually know what you're putting in your fries
ClubAmerica92 I agree, but these would be good if you wanted to produce a mass quantity of fries for a party. It would be cheaper that way
