    Please please please let this season be Leona's season and please let the Japanese public love her and let her be invited to all the shows because I really don't want her to have to fundraise to go to the Olympics again. Yes, she needed fundraising for that, the Belgian federation is practically non-existent. Last year there were two ladies at the nationals. TWO IN TOTAL! Belgium has now three sports for worlds and probably no skaters other than Leona who have the minimum scores to qualify. The fact that she can come from a country with this little backing and not training in some fancy place abroad is just incredible and I really really hope to see stories like hers more often in the future.

      It will be VERY interesting to see a seasoned champion (Shoma) against an up-and-coming super talent (Ilia).
      I think Shoma will outskate him even if he can't outjump him. Also, I think he could outjump him. He has a tendency to put too much energy into the 3A and overrotate. I'm sure with his tiny body, he could transfer that to the 4A and the 5T.
      But even without those things, Shoma is the better skater. TPC scores will definitely favor him.

    Can you somehow explain to the rest of us how tf the Russian court can just outright not reveal Kamila's drug test results? The US team and Japan team are not getting their medals and not to mention the insane mistreatment Kamila probably suffered at the hand of her coaches.

      They can't reveal it because she's a protected person under Olympic laws. However, it's possible to know if the coaches receive any repercussions.

      @@daria5846 So I think the skating skills of most japanese skaters are great and a joy to watch. Just because their program is less focused on artistry doesn't mean the speed, controll, extention and emotions isn't there. The power kaori possesses gives me goosebumps every time and shoma can also skate beautifully. It's more powerfull and grounded than hanyu's effortless flowy elegance but that doesn't mean there is nothing. I also think pairs and ice dance have a lot of artistic value but I've never really followed ice dance and I kinda stopped watching pairs after Aliona and Bruno won olympic gold which is quite a while ago.
      But for me lack or artistry means lack of skating skills. So a lot of people at the top still have artistry while some, like Eva-Lotta for example does her program a disservice by just focussing on the jumps while her program could be so amazing to watch

    • @kathrynmogavero5680
      @kathrynmogavero5680 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      His jumping has improved greatly over the past year. He’s now jump training under Ghislan Briand in Switzerland and that seems to be stabilizing all his jumps. I don’t know if his flip has lost all evidence of the floop; you can see his most recent jumps on TH-cam in a Uno1 video. Or, better yet, you can watch him this weekend at Skate Canada. A flip is definitely in his program.
      As a fan, I admire his tenacity and just plain hard work to improve his jumps; it took Eugenia Medvedeva 2 years of intense effort to change hers under Brian Orser, and I don’t know if Mao Asado ever accomplished that, even with years of trying. It’s really hard, if not nearly impossible, to get rid of incorrect muscle memory when you are an adult skater and have jumped the wrong way for years.

    • @carolinea6769
      @carolinea6769 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He's definitely intending to do it. Believe it or not, for all its wonkiness, the quad flip is his most consistent quad. He popped it at Japan Open but I guess we'll see what state it's in at Skate Canada this weekend. TBH, although I have seen some incremental improvements on that jump since his time working with Stéphane, I don't ever expect Shoma to fully fix his floop. I think it's way too late for that, but props to him that he keeps trying.

      obviously you do not understand Michael's upbringing. if you didn't know Michael performed with his brothers (jackson 5) and his childhood pretty much consisted of playing at night clubs and not experiencing a normal childhood plus he had an abusive father who mocked his appearance. i understand why people may see his behaviour as weird and how it catalysed the allegations, but you really need to at least understand the root causes of his behaviour. I'm a Michael Jackson fan, yes the MJ fandom is crazy and radical in some ways, but I am well-informed about the allegations against Michael in 93' and 05'. If you do you homework and actually studied the 93' and 05' allegations, you will notice that all of the accusers were seeking a payout from Michael. Do you think that tells you something? And not one single accuser went to the police to ever report that their child has been molested by Michael. In my opinion, to stop listening to Michael Jackson because of the allegations is just cowardly. Michael's not here to defend himself anymore so I believe that you should just leave him alone and let him rest in peace. His music and artistry has left an ever-lasting legacy and obviously has an influence everywhere especially art. Let's appreciate the contributions Michael has made on society and refrain from making assumptions about him.

Yes, he had absolutely amazing music, but he was a vile, manipulative, predatory human being. I don't see an issue with listening to his songs because like I said, they are amazing work, but to actually defend HIM as a person? No.

    i do not think Shoma is unbeatable at all, i think he is eminently beatable by many people.

      @@freedomlife3623 i think the russian skaters are pretty contented with just competing in their country, so we should be too 😉

    Mariah is fine, but she is nowhere near the caliber of what US female skaters used to be. I mean... Kristi Yamaguchi, Michelle Quann, Tara Lapinski, and yes I left Nancy out on purpose because she was always a mess and didn't deserve either medal. She wasn't even better than Tonya. Judges just lied for her.
