An old neighbour of mine worked for the OPP and in '95, they briefly tried the Taurus as the main marked police car. I remember him saying that they were too small inside. They went back to the Crown Vic's.

@DominiqueDN Its a flashing red light. My dad was a cop and he got to drive a 1990 Taurus detective car, which had one of those lights in it next to the police radio
Wow quite remarkable to let the drivers go into their cruisers to see how they detected them... no such offers in American traffic stops that's for sure.
@91Taurus Why did police detective vehicles stop using those dashboard removable lights? Now they equip the interior with lights and you can obviously see them unless they are extremely tinted black. They should go back to the removable lights.
I think the reason for the extra lighting in a lot of today's unmarked units is for extra visibility when responding to an emergency. Some unmarked units actually have sun-visor mounted lights where you just flip down the sun visor, kind of old school. But it's all based on department needs.
@91Taurus Did they not use the SHO engine because there wasn't an automatic transmission to be mated to the engine till 93? I wouldn't think the cops would want a stick. Kinda funny that they would use all SHO stuff but leave the awsome engine out of the equation.
Strange that fines haven't really gone up in the last 20 years (except for excess speed of course). I think here in Ontario it's still around the $100 mark for that kind of ticket isn't it?
Ivan is a liar on the quota system. I hear that the Taurus of this period took longer distance to stop then the Crown Victoria did. That is the Crown Vic with the aero body and no ABS or with ABS.
Finally someone gets it. My aunt's 92 Sable LS wagon has over 200,000 miles on it and it still has its original factory transmission on it. Fluid and filter changed on it every 30,000 miles and no problems ever.
@91Taurus who said it was the regular 140hp? the 3.0 was in the normal taurus which had 140hp. the SHO had a 3.0 which put out 220 hp. there was no yamaha 3.8 nor a regular 3.8. im sure this 3.8 (only in police units) has around 200hp like the SHO
"she's going about 125mph" Sorry, but the calibration of his speedo is WAY off. That Cabrio could barely top 100 on a good day, and with the top up. Top down, it would have to be towed by a Corvette to hit 125. Something to ponder the next time you're pulled over...
Rest in peace Detective Constable Zorzit... 1961 - 2011
Cause of death????
He’s still alive.
Police package includes Robocop))

I can see that. I had a 1995 SHO, and for hold large the car was, it was clustered inside.
Show had to end early because the 3.8 blew a head gasket
Still better than a chevy
@@nightwolf883anything better than a Chevy except for the old Caprice police cruiser from the 90s
Great vid! I love the 91 Taurus Police package! Hard to find vids of them now...
@SFX211476
Its not a Yamaha 3.8L. Just the regular 140hp 3.8L that was used in every other Taurus bumper to 150hp with the SHO exhaust
all that's missing is the theme from Robocop.
This Officer has pass away in August 11, 2011.
May he rip
'i try to stay in the open, I don't try to hide' as he's driving in an unmarked car...
Taylor Frost completely missed the point he made lol

Thanks. Nice Talon btw. My brother has a red '91 TSI AWD
@91Taurus The ole "Essex" engine! I had a Taurus with one... Lot's of torque!
mmmfloorpie Yes indeed! I beat the crap out of it and drive it like a V8 sometimes lol not to mention I just “modified” the exhaust the cheap way haha
The only problem was that engine loved to blow headgaskets. Which is why I prefer a Vulcan or Duratec Taurus.
Luckily she pulled over right where guy was standing with a camera apparently
:40 high output 3.8 v6? It had the same 140 hp engine came in the top of the line Taurus.
The 3.8 had more torque though.
@@ironinquisitor3656 The cop 3.8 had the same torque as the regular 3.8. It did have a slightly lower final drive gear.
Very good!! Thanks for sharing.
115... Kilometers which is like 75??
it's the robocop police car
Wow quite remarkable to let the drivers go into their cruisers to see how they detected them... no such offers in American traffic stops that's for sure.
1991 Taurus is my favorite car, but unfortunately for us, such a car almost absent
The Yamaha engine was based on the 3.0L, not the 3.8L.
What an IDIOT. Everyone knows that
@Icandrum2 Yes I agree put an LED in the rotating light.
Lol the good ol’ Ford Taurus Door chime
Baaaawwwwww

Very nice
Do the 3.8 Essex motor has the same 140 horsepower but, it has I believe 200 feet pound of torque.

@infomercialtime, I like cops that are polite to you. Some are plain rude.
Every cop is nice on camera
awesome account name. and yea tauruses own. it was probably some guy who thinks his hyundai with a fart can will beat super cars
Yes, Cancer 2011.
I had one of those, mine was a 92 and it cured me of ever owning a Ford again. Power to spare, but other than that it it was a piece of shit.
Look at today's Ford Taurus
Jay 100 Rip the Taurus since Ford is discontinuing it
@williamiwu
I hear that. I once got a $115 ticket because I was wearing contact lenses instead of glasses and the a-hole didn't believe me
Ivan is a liar on the quota system.

Seriously - those moustaches have to be spoof!
The Ford 3.8 was a huge pile of shit, headgasket problems with them. The 1991 Taurus,Sable and Continental transmissions were junk
wafrederick The transmission didn't last because people never change the filter.

@@blackericdenice The 1991 transmissions went out left and right even maintained. The headgasket issues with the 3.8 also took the bottom end out too
