I believe both pieces weren't the best choice. His speaking voice is deep and dark. Seems like Lenski's would have been a better choice, perhaps Che'lla mi creda. These two pieces tessitura wise are to high. This is just my opinion. He has a terrific voice otherwise
I think Andris needs to work on finding more warmth in his sound, but given the circumstances, nerves get in the way. And his pronunciation is good but there are things he can improve as well, like double consonants. The goal is vocal freedom to express the meaning of the words and intentions of the character, and sing beautifully.
