      Partied with Eddie back in 1982 prior to a super concert at Arrowhead. The dude was beyond cool. In fact the concert started late because they couldn't find him. Funny part was, he was in our room totally oblivious to the time.

He would have made a great cop like Serpico, if he wanted but he was destined for more. Rock star, charisma, funny, energy... it's like lightening in a bottle. God Bless Eddie. U were a total blast! Didn't even find out at this it happened on my 48th birthday, so no wonder I heard them play him on the radio while I was driving that day. Even though he's right up there with the rest of the great classic rock, radio stations didn't play him as much as I used to, and I didn't even hear them mention this until just today from an ex-girlfriend in another state, and also just heard about Ric Ocasek. About 4 years ago, I had the pleasure of speaking with Eddie after one of his shows. I waited in line to be last with the hope I would have a chance at more than a simple hello and thank you. I was struck by his kindness, sincerity and patience. He spoke of his tremendous pride and love for his wife and children. When I told Eddie I first saw him perform in 1982 when he and The Clash opened on The Who's farewell tour, he asked me how I enjoyed The Who's performance. Then he said, "I loved The Who, but The Clash were assholes!" Rest in peace, Eddie. Thanks for helping me during the tough years.-Vincent E. Carlson, Esq., North Muskegon, Michigan.

      No such place in heaven..For God is a Holy God and no sinners enter there in...No drunkards, lustful, lascivious, unclean people...to name a few...Those who repent of their sins, and live according to Gods commands, can enter into his presence...Now there is another place call hell, and Satan has open arms for all who reject Gods ways...Just like He did...So he patiently waits for those who rejected the plan of salvation through Christ...

    • @cristylo5000
      @cristylo5000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Sal Salinas I had respect for him but he is gone...What really concerns me is the soul, and that is what matters to God more than anything...He does not want anyone to go to the other side...But the way we live now we will know in judgment day who will enter into the Gods Kingdome and who will not...Satan wanted to take Gods place and he was banned from heaven because he sinned against God...The living has two paths to choose the narrow that leads to God or the wide path with all its temptations...Look at the way these people have lived their lives, the majority wasted...And God hates to see them in this condition it hurts him...But what do you know...Go read the book...And thanks for the foul word you called me...I forgive you and for that Iw ill never stop praying for you. God bless.

The other time was at a record signing for Love and Money. I was the first person in line so obviously a big fan. He even stole my pen which was one of the Gold ones. It bummed me out cause I have always been a big fan.

    MTV debuted in August 1981 - Just a month shy of my 13th Birthday. The idea at the time of an all music video channel - to a teen - was heaven. I remember those days with great fondness. Eddie was one of those artists that embraced the MTV scene almost right from the very beginning, and in so doing introduced me to his music. Eddie's videos were always entertaining, and his music was as enjoyable. Eddie really became part of my growing up, and during difficult times, as I had just moved from England to America in the summer of 1980, and it was very hard on me. MTV really was a friend, and I felt all the artists, and bands that featured on there were all apart of my extended family - including Eddie. Thank You Eddie, for being there to cheer me up when times were hard. Rest in Peace.

      I really appreciate your comment. I was born in 1980 and our town didn't have MTV until like 1990. Then right through the whole 90's MTV was a force like nothing we have today. Even more powerful than TH-cam itself. I always wondered how much more powerful it was in it's early days when Cable TV had so many fewer channels. MTV had to be so much more comparatively.

    • @thee4thdoctor
      @thee4thdoctor 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @ Kevin G - Nothing like it had never been done before. Not on that scale. Prior to MTV, there had been various television shows in the U.S., and in Europe that featured both live appearances by bands, and artists, as well as pre-recorded promotional music videos (music videos can actually trace their origins as far back as the 30's in old Hollywood musical short films that were shown in movie theatres before the main movie features), but there had never been an entire network whose only purpose was to broadcast nothing, but music videos. MTV became a force in really no time, as it wasn't only broadcasting music videos of established bands / artists, but also introducing many new bands / artists that without MTV's exposure, we may well never have heard from. Almost all musical genres benefitted from the channel as well. Rock, Pop, Rap, New Wave, and Heavy Metal. It was a wonderful time in music - never to be as good.
