- "Is it a phone? Is it a tablet? It's Galaxy Note!"
So read the quote that kicked off the ad campaign surrounding the original Galaxy Note, the 5.3-inch hybrid device Samsung unveiled last year. Like many Samsung ad slogans, this one was a tad inaccessible, but at least the first two-thirds of it accurately stated the question a lot of us were asking: was the product a smartphone or was it a tablet? And furthermore, what place did it have in the market? What exactly did "it's Galaxy Note" mean?
To the surprise of some and the delight of Samsung, no doubt those questions didn't keep the original Galaxy Note from skyrocketing to success. As of August, Samsung had sold 10 million units worldwide, proving that "phablets" did indeed have a place in consumers' hearts and pockets. Before long, the company had single-handedly carved out a new category in mobile computing devices, and went on to expand the Note brand to include devices in other categories as well. A follow-on phablet seemed assured.
The Galaxy Note II is that device. We first got our hands on it at this year's IFA, and we've just wrapped up a solid week of testing our own review unit here in the States. We've editorialized on its hybrid nature, waxed poetic in video demos of its features, and even podcasted at length about this new kid on the phablet block. So, does the new smartphone/tablet live up to the high bar set by its predecessor? Grab your favorite beverage, put your feet up, and watch to find out.

Your reviews are amazing. Really to the point and well organized.
Welcome at last Mr. Mobile!!! Enjoying your Note's reviews.. All of them.. Very nice walkaround and flashbacks... Pop up window is old man! hahahahha, 9 out of 10, love the index at the upper left corner... Captain2phones... nice... 10 / 10 still this review!!
I miss when +pocketnow used to give actual ratings to phones during reviews.
This is truly one of the best phone reviews I've ever seen.
Just want to say thanks for making QUALITY videos!! Can really appreciate what you do after seeing some of the other reviews out there in TH-camland!
I miss this era of phones, back when devices were simple sure the build quality wasn't great but watching this in 2022 gives me such nostalgic vibes, my friend had this phone i had a HTC sensation XE with beats audio at the time. I didn't get into the phablet game until 2013 with the Galaxy note 3 all devices are kinda boring in 2022 exceptions from the Foldable/Z flips of the modern world.
love your reviews!! keep them up!
I have a note 2 and its awesome. Absolutely no complaints
Very thorough review! You hit on many things I wanted to know about. I will be getting this phone!!!
great review very well organized, best thing was that he didnt jus go over the same stuff that everyone else has already talk about a dozen time i learned some new stuff i didnt know about
Great review I just wanna know one thing. How did you get folders on the dock :)

Really like your reviews! This is how a review video should be.
Very well done review! Thanks
Great review as usual. I just bought one of these things and totally agree with your conclusions. If you can handle the size (and price tag) this is the best Android phone on Verizon right now IMO.
Hah! Amazing touch adding that light saber sound for the s pen, love it.
The best review yet !!
Great review, I'm getting my Note II delivered on Monday (01/07/13) can't wait! I especially liked the in depth video about the S-Pen, VERY helpful! Thanks!

I agree... The S3 makes the best pictures I ever saw on a mobile phone
that was very helpful! thank u
Getting this!
New favourite reviewer!
Ever since buying a Note II it has become my favorite phone. I enjoyed the S line, but after holding this elegant monster in my hands there is no way I can go back to smaller phones.
great review :D
so for the multitasking/screen dock on the side...if you download a different browser like firefox, would it be put into that dock to be accessible for the multi-windo feature? And other compatible apps as well?
Great reviews. Keep it up =)

Best. Review. Ever.

Great Review keep it up ;)
i saw this attachment or the note 2
PPA Intl SAMSIICONNK Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note Connection Kit
Can i connect a mhl adaptor to it? will it work?
Is the galaxy note 2 screen sharper than the galaxy s3 screen due to the RGB matrix, can you still see pixels?
Is the 5.5 inches measured from corner to corner?

Hey what's the weather widget that's shown on this video?
i got this in titanium grey ! its fucking amazing....try the grey in store because it really repels finger prints and looks sexy with a chrome look...the white is so 2011. overall its a great device.
good review
Yes, the note 2 is not too big and still manageable. I have one and I am loving it. I have used something as good as this before. By the way the titanium gray looks better and does not look cheap at all. The white one although look good but looks cheap.
How the battery last on difference usage
Lol loved the lightsaber effect on the s pen
iPhone 5 was outdated when the S3 came out but with this Note II, it's official
He looks so freakin baked and he talks like hes blown gotta love it
u have to update ur note
go to setting>about device>software update
the multi-window will come with the update
Well the S-Note app is like the name suggests for notes....
For writing it sucks because there is some input lag...
Lecture Notes on the other side does perfectly well ...
how can i enable that list on the left side on 6:46 for the supported apps ??
Nice review..thumbs up
Why are you using a sound booth? sounds awful :( other wise your reviews are great !
The first generation of galaxy note has got better texture on the back indeed.
Awesome awesome review, incredibly objective. Thank you!
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
@Kase Draven instablaster =)
what clock & wether widget is he udinh on the phone ?
Great video- itll be my next phone. I have an iphone 4 now
how exactly does that answer my question iwasnt asking for facts and figures or ppi, in terms of real life use, what the screen looks like.
I agree with your functionality bit but battery is observed aha! The note 2 will last a day with medium/heavy use but still sounds as thats not enough lol thats a good battery, best on the market has to be!
Was trying to choose between this and the Optimus G Pro. Seems like this one got a higher rating and better features and functionality. I think I'll go with the Galaxy Note 2 :)
What is that clock widget?
nice job
Best note review
The a6 processor was the first to get lte if im not mistaking
hey I have a question I have a galaxy s3 and the battery sucks and my question is if I root my device to a custom rom (cm10) will it improve my battery? if anyone could help me out it would be great thanks
dude where have you been for the last 6 months?
Even the iPhone 5 is outdated by the software
NOBODY especially Samsung can beat the iPhone 5 by its hardware design
iPhone 5's design is simply amazing
Boston my hometown...
@devonlprevost Those are always diagnol measurements. (I think)
You got the element of theatrics in your reviews. Is Raes-al-ghul your mentor?
please help, my note 2 can't do multi-window
this is the best guys
The Droid DNA is good as well. The only bad thing about it is the battery
I wish it came in blue
why does it seem like everyone forgot about the dell streak, the phone that actually introduced that big of a screen size to the world. sure it wasn't a riveting success, more like a riveting failure. but it was still the first. that's what counts.
interesting i confess i have been hiding under a rock because i didn't even know that it was out yet.
Gonna be a hard decision coming December. Its either the Note 2 or 8x.
What game is he playing at 11:30?
That's HD Widgets.
Thank you Tony Stark, awesome review :D
michael fischer why u so awesome
watching Michael Fisher's video is quite "comfortable"
what game is that? 11:25
And no stronger than the gs3 or note.My wife and 2 daughters have the iphone 4s and everyone of em is cracked front and back. Not at all impressed with there durability of the iphone.
But your'e right, the design is one in a million.
