Aaron is one of the NICEST PEOPLE I have ever met!!! I first met him during his USO tour BEFORE his first album was released while serving in OPERATION DESERT STORM.
Since then I have run into Aaron more times than I can count, literally. I have shared many meals with him and a few with his son. He is EXTREMELY approachable and always takes time to meet people, shake hands, sign autographs, take pictures, and pray with any who ask.
After I got out of the Marine Corps and started trucking I ran into Aaron at Mont Eagle Truck Stop. I was taking a quick break on a rainy, foggy night/morning. Aaron and a bunch of country stars came into the restaurant. There were 6 people in the place before they came in. When I saw him I smiled a little remembering the concert he did for the troops. He walked right up to me, put his hand out, and said "Glad to see you made it home alright.".
I asked him if he k e who I was or if he was saying that because of my haircut. He told he EXACTLY where and when he met me and basically what we said to one another. I was floored. Then Aaron called the others over to personally introduce them to me.
I hauled cars for a living. Almost 20 years, and met a hell of a lot of celebrities over those years. Some were polite, some nice, some friendly, many were assholes.
Talk shit about him and you are doing a disservice. The man is TRULY DOWN HOME. His former jobs run a gambit most would hate, but all were hard work. They include welder, coal miner, truck driver, dock worker, commercial pilot, and many more. He loved singing in a band with his buddies, and fortunately it paid off for him.
Don't hate on someone because they are famous AND REAL.!!!!!!

Just to clarify, the night in question there were about a dozen or so country stars traveling through that all happened to stop at the old truck stop. I KNOW Aaron Tippin lives east of Nashville.
I don't know if he still does, but he used to have breakfast a few days a week at Uncle Pete's Truck Stop.

Got my CDL a couple years back and was doing that for a bit. Now have a local delivery job that I enjoy, but it’s feeling like a bit of a dead end. At 35, I keep thinking it’s too late to get into a trade, but hearing you got into welding at 32 gives me hope. Maybe time to make the move! Seems like the trades need a lot of people who are dependable and want to work more than ever right now

We could also use the conditions that typified entry into the workforce in each of the preceding generations following World War II: the ability to earn a living wage in exchange for putting in 40 hours a week. That's a near-impossibility in today's economic environment, and that's largely a result of tax and fiscal policy embarked upon by every administration since Ronald Reagan.

      Worked hard in school.
l got a academic scholarship went to college, then law school.
I am the first in the office last to leave and all the ones that was born with silver spoons, who take the three hour lunches wonder why they were passed over for promotion time and time again and the farm girl gets it!

I am not a "working man." and I did not spend my life doing hard physical labor, However, I grew up on a farm and I did my share of manure shoveling, critter chasing, hay baling, rock picking, and the like.
I am now a retired public school teacher, and I worked very hard at that. Now I am old, kinda broke down, and tired, but I still work every day. Every morning when my feet hit the floor, I think about my tasks for the day and say to myself, "You gotta get it started if you wanna get it down." If I need some motivation, I pull up this song and listen to it. It never fails to get me moving.
    Thank you, Aaron Tippin.

Definitely this "younger generation" oh wait. I'm 26. That's me.
I'm a truck driver, dad of 2 girls, the local mechanic, plumber, appliance tech, role model.
Apparently though my age makes me a spoiled brat.
Being a trucker I get tons of dirty looks from old sour men who are scared of being passed by the "younger generation"

You get up every morning 'fore the sun comes up
Toss a lunch box into a pickup truck
A long hard day sure ain't much fun
But you got to get it started if you want to get it done.
You set your mind and roll up your sleeves
    You're workin' on a Working Man's Ph.D.
With your heart and your hands and the sweat on your brow
You build the things that really make the world go 'round
If it works, if it runs, if it lasts for years
You can bet your bottom dollar it was made right here
With pride and honor and dignity
    From a man with a Working Man's Ph.D.
Now, there ain't no shame in a job well done
From driving a nail to driving a truck
As a matter of fact, I'd like to set things straight
A few more people should be pullin' their weight
If you want a cram course in reality
    You get yourself a Working Man's Ph.D.
When the quittin' whistle blows and the dust settles down
There ain't no trophies or cheering crowds
You'll face yourself at the end of the day
And be damned proud of whatever you've made
Can't hang it on the wall for the world to see
    But you've got yourself a Working Man's Ph.D.
Now, there ain't no shame in a job well done
From driving a nail to driving a truck
As a matter of fact, I'd like to set things straight

Even more true today than when the song was new. It doesn't even matter what line of work you're in. I'm a truck driver, my wife is a nurse, we have friends and family in everything from construction to law enforcement. We all see the same thing-about 1 in 10 young people entering the work force today actually have any kind of work ethic. It's shameful but, so many "parents" from my generation just gave their children whatever they wanted, instead of making them earn it. These kids, no matter what kind of education they have, are in no way prepared for the real world!

My uncle drove a truck for years with Zoomstein. He retired when the logs went digital. He loved it. My brother drove for six years and had to stop. He is really short, and his knees got bad from getting in and out. My dad worked many jobs. His last was 19 years in the coal mines. He had a bad car accident in 87 and had to go on disability. Up until last year he still had a garden, mowed his yard, and whatever needed to be done. Dad is 90 he taught us to work hard and do it right. My son-in-law is 25 and works six hour shifts at the Dollar General store. He is exhausted and has to lay down and have a short nap when he gets home. I dont understand. Its like they feel entitled.
