      Ozzy, Brendan has 3 boys, I'm happy to report they're all still alive 🙂. Clapping at graduation was something I did. 500-600 kids, I saved the "woos".for those I knew and appreciated, or the ones from other countries, who likely only had 2 family members in the audience

      I know the feeling. My "parents" are abusive, neglectful, toxic, vile people. Not only have I never had a birthday party, they don't even acknowledge the day any more. They've given me so many mental health issues (mainly just severe depression and anxiety, but those are extremely crippling), but they refuse to accept any responsibility for anything. If I had known you and could have made it to your graduations, I would have cheered you on. Everyone who isn't terrible deserves to feel important.

      @@englishatheart Sorry to hear that. I've had fairly similar time growing up. Broken family until my dad got together with my stepmom and then became the mental abuse. If she had a bad day at work, she came to my room, trashed my stuff that I had to pay for and eventually at the end of the day it was me who had to go and apologize to her. That happened approximately 3-4 times a week. I paralyzed when I was 13yo and thought that I might get some break from that but nah, it continued as the same with the exception being that I couldn't even get away from the situation anymore, especially at winter time, so I moved out when I was 16. Since then, they haven't visited me even once during these last 14 years. I'm not part of their family by any means, there's "no room" for me at christmas, I never had birthdays either, when I graduated from College with honors they weren't present (My friends parents cheered me up though as well as my teachers), now that I graduated from University last spring my dad literally sent me just a text message saying "congrats." and that's all.
      But hey! I've accepted the fact I'm not part of their family and I'm better off alone. I still have my aunt and grandma whom have said that I'm last of our bloodline, only one following our traditions and that's enough for me. I have my friends as well as my internet friends whom I talk with daily and who cheers me on much more than my family ever did and I got even you cheering me on! :) I'd never wish anything what has happened to either of us to anyone and I send all the love towards you as well and since your parents don't acknowledge your birthday, let me congratulate you even if it comes late or too soon :)

    On the graveyard portion, oddly, leaving the headstones alone is actually really valuable for science. Lichens often grown on headstones and they're particular sensitive to air pollution, and they growth rates are useful in calibrating other scientific metrics. The headstones are dated, so they provide a spot-on calibration method. Similarly, certain stone types are more easily subject to weathering and cleaning them accelerates this process. The weathering rate of certain stones is also useful environmental data, especially in pollution tracking, so cleaning them also potentially sabotages this data as well.
    That's not at all to have a go at the fellow's good intentions, but to point out that often there are several sides to a particular issue, and valuable information comes from unexpected sources.

      If they truly want a stone for research, they will place a stone themselves. Most stones weather badly. Many times a cemetery worker is needed to check the actual date of a stone. Many older stones are so bad that the carving is illegible.

    • @LindaC616
      @LindaC616 ปีที่แล้ว

      In order for "science " to use the ones where I live, they'd have.to be able to prove that it's never been cleaned since the 1700s, in order to measure lichen growth. Since they can't, those in historical/cultural preservation win out. Volunteers are instructed in my city on how to go about it, and there are special days when people can participate. And that's how we maintain the graves of the diverse population going back centuries (the slaves buried in God's Little Acre, the Jewish quarter, etc)

    Ozzyman isn’t going to die. His microphone will eventually get scratchy and hard to understand. But generations from now if a human pauses on a certain spot in Western Australia, they will hear: ‘Ohh, what a legend, that worm just did a spready to the surface and it doesn’t have any bloody legs’.

    My mum graduated from uni in September. I clapped for every graduate and my hands were tingling at the end lol.
    When my mum got up on the stage, the entire auditorium lost it clapping cheering and whistling.
    She's 73 and I couldn't be more proud of her.
    I would be honoured to clap along side Knee clap Dad!

    I clapped for every graduate when my son graduated high school. My reasoning is you don’t know if this kid had family here or not. If not I’m here so why not show some love after all 12 years of school + kindergarten and or head start is quite the accomplishment. I’m glad that dad cheered for every single one of them
