I know she almost drowned, but she looked completely DUI.
This actually happened several years ago during a hurricane in Texas I believe. People give the woman a really hard time for her response but forget that she is in full panic and shock. I was shocked that it turned out as well as it did. The guy is really a hero.
As a former lifeguard, I can tell you that that was one hell of a rescue.
I'm an emergency volunteer, and I understand the statistic in the US is that for every two people saved in a flood rescue, one rescuer dies. So yeah, a seriously risky save-bloke deserves a medal.

@@nomadMik I looked it up. And although unfortunately some rescuers died during the rescue attempt it was probably not one rescuer for every two people rescued. What you probably misinterpreted is the following statistic from 2005 to 2008 (although it's not from the US): "114 drowned "rescuers" rescued 47 PDVs before they died from drowning"
"In this 4-year period, 88 "rescuer" drowning incidents occurred in which 114 "rescuers" and 60 PDVs died from drowning in MDIs"
I don't have a number for the total number of people saved, but fortunately the statistics are only about how many died but still saved a person before.

About Turkish guy being nice: the food he's making is called Aşure. It's been told it's the last meal Noah made in his ark with what's left in the kitchen. It's a dessert made with sugar, wheat, dried apricots, raisins, clove... It's made in the month of Muharrem (one of the lunar months of Hicri - Islamic calendar). And sharing this meal is important. You share it with friends, colleagues, neighbors... And this guy shares it in a whole neighborhood. Also he helps to animal shelters, orphanages, resting homes regularly.

I'm a disabled RN, but back in my working days I delivered 5 babies myself when the Dr didn't make it on time in the middle of the night. It was such a kick, made my whole day every time, helping to bring new life into the world. I may or may not have shed a tear along with the happy parents 🤔😉

As a motorbike rider, I already knew about the higher level of kindness between riders, and by most riders towards the public and animals a like, but to see it gain traction online is just next level. Kudos to all the kind motorcycle riders out there. 2 wheel crew represent!
the humans literally tilting a train off the rails to help free a guys leg is the very reason we have come as far as we have as a species, the things we could do while working together as a single unit are immense and seemingly endless from where we stand right now, I just wish we'd stop fighting so much and get to working together... we'd solve so many world problems if we did that... hell we'd solve the problem of overpopulating this world and the subsequent destruction of our natural environment around us as well especially fast... As it stands now we will probably not get our shit together until it is either to late or nearly to late.
@I Don't Like Authoritarians Overpopulation is not as an immediate threat as climate change, you are correct, but it is a threat, one that is off in the future, but if we do not respond properly to climate change then we could see fresh water supply shortages unless we figure a way to efficiently filter sea water, or recycle already used water... That could happen as soon as 50 years or so depending on how we react to climate change, there is also the affect of food shortages due to climate change as well (due to a lack of fresh water) these two shortages would cause an overpopulation issue... Overpopulation being a depletion of vital resources that are necessary for survival... So yes you are right Overpopulation is not what we should be worried about right now, we need to be worried about climate change because if even mild effects come from that we will be placed in a situation of overpopulation, and by that point it will definitely be too late to plan for overpopulation issues.

Just curious because neither was wrote down with intent to be a negative takeaway, I am rereading it and I am not seeing where I pointed out a negative takeaway... the first portion is all about the positivity of the video and how if humanity as a whole worked like the people lifting the train off that person we could accomplish, currently, unbelievable things. the last part was a personal fear I have about the future of humanity based off of what I see right now, particularly in and caused by the country I live in.

The convenience store owner giving the man his dollar back then giving him free items is touching. This store owner is frequently quite generous to the customers, most of whom appear to be socioeconomically disadvantaged. So often such people are in the middle of a “food desert” with no grocery stores and are forced to pay high prices at convenience stores. I have seen his videos giving free items to kids.
I'd bet anything that if you asked that guy to choose between a couple of dollars or the option to not have a video of him at his lowest plastered all over the internet, he'd choose his dignity over the money. There's nothing touching about exploiting someone who's impoverished for internet clout.

I do not Watch videos which show the identity of the person giving away large sums of money or large gifts for clicks. Same with obviously contrived animal “rescue” videos and the like.
This man merely brightens people’s day in a very small way-his own, the recipient,and the viewer…and was keeping people safe during a pandemic. Hopefully it inspires others to be kind in some way. The other example of the large gift giver could be fake, if definitely somewhat self serving, and the money would be better used giving a large sum to charity-something not possible for the convenience store owner.

Earlier today, my cell phone was lost, and I had no idea if I was going to get it back. I retraced my steps back to the gas station where I left it, and behold, and honest citizen had it and was waiting for me the whole time (about 30 minutes) just to see if I would come back to get it.

I use to work in a retail store located in a shopping mall, I found a couple of wallets and I always hand them in to mall management, one of them even had cash. One time I was on my lunch break and I misplaced my wallet, no one bothered to hand it in. I guess karma is bullshit.

My daughter was returning to school, which involved driving the length of California(Yreka to San Diego). She called me and said she had stopped for gas and food in Compton Ca. and had left her wallet sitting on top of the toilet paper holder in a bathroom stall at McDonalds. During the call, she got a call from McDonalds, someone found her wallet, turned it in, the manager found a phone number in the wallet, called it and got my daughter's number from her roommate. She drove back and her wallet was returned.

Being both emotionally drained and so overwrought by the current state of the world (and more specifically the US) that watching a guy making a chalk racetrack on his driveway and seeing the pure joy of kids enjoying it is all it takes to get me tearing up = my perpetual emotional state of being at the moment. I think the train thing is an Aussie thing, too. We had a guy trapped in the gap by a train a few years ago and everyone just got together and pushed the train, and then wandered off not looking for any recognition or anything. The media had a rrrreally hard time looking for people who were there to comment because, fuck it, you just help people when they need it and don't look for the limelight after.

That guy saving the lady and the dog is truly an awesome example of the best in humanity. I saved a dear friend of mine from both of us drowning when we were 17yrs old and i want to tip my hat to you and your obvious titanium set of balls. Good show
The one with the train actually made me shed a tear. It reminded me when I was in this exact situation except the train was leaving. A dozen of anonymous arms from a fully jam packed wagon just yanked me out of there. Humanity still has hope!

I visited Perth/Fremantle in 1985 onboard the USS Carl Vinson. I'll never forget Dial-a-Sailor when we were there. Thousands of Perth gals called our on-duty SPs for dates with us sailors in our battle group. This was arranged by the local newspaper and date requests were posted on a bulletin board we walked by as we disembarked. Really good port o' call!
