At 3 inches, 2 decimal places for the angle probably are enough, but if you are doing anything at a larger size, you won't have good enough tolerances.

Old video but why did you just do 90-70.53 when the equation shown is 90-(dihedral/2)=d? Wouldn't that be 90-(70.53/2)?

You should be able to extrude the triangle and add an angle to the extrude.

never mind. I continued watching :)

is there a reason i cant fillet the edges? I ended up drawing up each face individually and then joining them and when i try to fillet the edges it just tries to do one edge of one of the triangles instead of one joined edge of both...

That might be due to an issue with how you joined the edges. It is hard to know the cause without further analysis of the model. I would check your browser tree and ensure you have only one body that you are interacting with. If so, then I would try selecting the edge, then entering the fillet tool; it should use the preselected edge as your primary body.

Hey nice video, but I wish you'd take the time to show exactly what steps you take. For basics like this, when you say, oh create a sketch based on the offset construction plane, I can't figure out how to do that, create sketch doesn't give me a way to do that which I can find. Then, gettting the offset point into the sketch that I can't build, that I can't figure out either. Slowing down for those details would make this video really useful!

why is having multiple sketches bad ?

    • @Señormakey

When making a pyramid? Best practice is to have as few things in your browser as you can, because it becomes a major challenge to fix things that you mess up. Also, maintaining parametric features across multiple sketches is a major challenge when you get to more complex shapes. This technique also ensures you can do stellated versions of polyhedron later, instead of attempting to create sketch planes at crazy angles.

Did you speed up the video because you realize after all that they are really long? Or you speak very fast? The first things happens to me all the time... hahaha

I actually was just speaking gibberish to pass the time of assembly, and I realized I could narrate a 3 minute section much faster than the 8 minutes it took to assemble the whole thing
