Oh my God, thank you so much for all this information! Funny, I had their ages all wrong! LOL I would have thought that Solar was the youngest, and Hwasa was the oldest. That's pretty amazing that this girl group figured out a creative and lucrative way to basically say "forget you" to their haters. I’ll just add a little info that Gleam is actually a commercial for a glasses brand Davichi and that’s why the title is gleam=dabichi/sounds similar to the brand name. That’s how good mmm is that even their commercial is considered an mv and it’s not the 1st time happened 😂 I’ll also emphasized on mmm perhaps the only kpop gg where all 4 members are strong vocalists, rappers, and high musicality where they involved in almost every aspect of their music creation incl writing lyrics, Moonbyul making her own rap part, etc. They sing very amazing even during live performances which can be seen in their immortal songs performances. To those whose curious, just search mamamoo immortal songs in youtube and the many vids of them singing live will show up). I remember watching their 11 mins immortal songs medley where they sings nonstop 11 mins beautifully and still maintain the stability of their voices leaving me breathless and give the stamp pf power vocal house to them. There is also a new yt vid that shows mmm in studio vs live to give us understanding at how great they are in this industry. Also, reminder that Hwasa of mamamoo will have her solo comeback with mini album MARIA on June 29, 6pm. She released the highlight medley of her mini album yesterday in mamamoo youtube channel. there was an actual "controversy" with hwasa when she didn't wear a bra to the airport last year I think and knetz obv didn't like it so that's what the "president hwasa dressed innapropriately at the airport" means and how throughout the song they say "it becomes a controversy, my fashion" and "I don't really care its just another action". basically saying to the haters they don't care what they say ab them

I can't judge, but I've seen it said that Hwasa isn't wearing a bra under the Spandex shirt in Hip, either. And I didn't know there was body language for "Kiss my ass," but I swear that's what Hwasa was saying with that hip twist.
A couple things to know about Mamamoo: - they come from a small company, they were the first group of their company and built it to the success it is today. But they had very little money at the beginning and even were busking on the street to promote themselves - all members are songwriters and write on their albums. Moonbyul is the 4th most credited female idol of all time. HIP was written by their CEO and Hwasa as a clapback against knetz who have criticized Mamamoo for wearing what they want (Hwasa in particular which is why she wrote that headline in the mv) - Mamamoo’s fanbase in South Korea is unique because it’s largely majority female unlike most gg’s there. Mamamoo are incredibly popular with women in SK because they are breaking boundaries (doing/dressing how they like) and are seen as feminist icons - they are known for their incredible vocals and live performances. They are one of the few idol groups that have won Immortal Songs multiple times. In SK they are really known for their vocal abilities

Then again, I'm still pretty new to most groups, so that doesn't really mean much, LOL. I think Moonbyul is my bias! JazzyCheeks yes in South Korea many men follow gg’s but they usual gravitate towards gg’s with cute or sweet concepts/music like Gfriend/Oh My Girl/Lovelyz/Twice (twice in the early days had majority male fans but now that their concept is more mature their fanbase is 50/50 male and female) Girl groups who are ‘girl crush’ or badass/strong women tend to have more female fans (groups like Mamamoo, Blackpink, Red Velvet)
Mamamoo is that group. They are the vocal queens of kpop. Their whole career has been build on talent where musical critical praise them for their power vocals and control. Hell they don’t even know how to lip sync ( I mean it they done it twice and it became the joke of the fandom). Apart from that they create a lot of their own music. ( like hip is co written and co composed by hwasa) and have a lot of solo songs. Jyp (one of the biggest CEO in kpop) said mamamoo are like 4 solo artist. I would highly recommend their songs: wind flower, starry night, yes I am, gogobebe and decalcomanie. One famous award show is the Blue Dragon (or something), it's called a dead crowd for idols, the actors and actress doesn't react. Mamamoo performed, with adlibs and the crowd responds well. @@JazzyCheeks ha, little late, but what alondra was saying about the lip syncing was true... both times they lip synced it was at the request of the show they were on (kbs both times). the first time was because they were doing the show outdoors and didn't think any of the artists could outdo the nearby traffic, so asked all of them to lip sync. mamamoo and ailee both were super bad at it, so obvious neither were used to it (mamamoo performed their song "new york" for it if you ever want to see) the second time was this past year, kbs asked them to lip sync because their sound system wasn't good enough for live vocals or something... and how crazy is that? a music show going 'our audio isn't good enough, so we'll just go with playback' there's a performance of their song "no more drama" on pikicast where fans were shocked since we all thought 'wait, when did mamamoo get good at lip syncing?' then wheein flipped a page of the book she was holding super loudly and you could hear that.. that's when we were 'oooh, they are singing live, just the mics aren't easy to see. that makes so much more sense'
Mamamoo are known for their vocals. When they were rookies, they won ‘immortal songs’ 3 times against legendary singers and they’re the only gg to win. GLEAM is just a sunglasses ad which people mistaken it as a comeback. They’re known to be the most versatile gg since they did various concepts. I would like you to react to their IMMORTAL SONG MEDLEY so you would be able to see for yourself rather than being told that they’re basically the vocal queens of kpop. They were trained to not just trust their looks because they were told their not “pretty enough” so that’s why they worked hard on their vocals. They basically worked their way up without any of the big companies help

@@JazzyCheeks Just to clarify this a bit... It was their management that told that they weren't "pretty enough", but it wasn't a diss and they weren't trying to just be mean. When Mamamoo was first getting started, back when they were trainees, the majority of girl groups were basically singing supermodels and, let's be honest, the girls, at the time, were not supermodel material. The point that management was trying to make was that they would not be able to compete with the other groups when it comes to visuals so they would have to focus and work hard in other areas, such as their vocals and their performance skills. As I said, they weren't trying to be mean, they were just being honest. When the members tell this story it's not a "Boo hoo, they were so mean to us" story. It's more of a "We're glad they were honest with us, which made us work harder on our singing and performing skills" thing.
Yeah, I got the feeling it was some sort of advert for glasses, they kept playing with the glasses or pointing to them at some point in the video. That doesn't take anything away from how awesome of a video it is, LOL. I feel like Loona's solo mvs were more like something to introduce each member to the group, which was a cool concept they had, ngl, but Mamamoo's solo songs are actually them establishing themselves as solo artists. All 4 of them had their legit solo debuts already. Solar just debuted this year, Wheein had a comeback last year, Hwasa is _about_ to have a comeback in 3 days, and Moonbyul has had 2 this year, which is why I really like her line "I'm off to make my next album" in HIP. She literally released a solo mini album 3 months later😂. This group is basically 4 soloists who work together under the name "Mamamoo"😅

They do have a lot of teasers for each music video usually. Hip was an extreme example as they had teasers for each member AND the bit or theme for that comeback. Which was alternate realities. 4 of them for each of the 4 members. As far as solo music we are entering the phase where the group is having more solo stages. As far as music videos for the solo songs that only goes back about 3 of the 6 years for the group. Watch their live stuff. Anything will do. Maybe start with Immortal Songs (sorry if this is not new information). Live stages are what sets them apart from anyone else. In the world. Thank you fo your time.

That video is definitely coming up! It's too bad supremacy has such a negative meaning these days, because Vocal Supremacy sounds like such a cool album title, lol. Then again, it being Mamamoo, they'd probably be dragged for being too confident, LOL.
There are enough comments about their vocal prowess, so I'll add this: another reason why people love Mamamoo so much is because of how genuine they are. Moonbyul doesn't like staying confined to gender expectations. (Her solo Eclipse sounds like what you'd expect from a boy group.) Hwasa decided to establish her own beauty standard after being told that she didn't meet current ones. (She's gorgeous.) This kinda stuff from them really struck me. Their confidence is what attracts a large amount of their female fans, actually. HIP was written with the intention of expressing that you should love yourself and live confidently without caring what other people think. They promote a lot of positivity. Their (chaotic) energy makes them a lot of fun to watch on shows, too. 😆 True, they were told they weren't pretty or tall/model-like like other girl groups (pffft), so they'd have to focus on their performance. And boy did they do that. They often change up their live performances to give something new, and they're EXCELLENT at hyping up a crowd. I really value stage performance and audience interaction, so they stole my heart really quickly. I hope you'll continue to enjoy their music. They dabble in a little bit of everything, and they pull it off really well. :) EDIT: I changed my mind, I also want to comment on one thing with their vocals, esp Immortal Songs performances: LIVE HARMONIES ON POINT. That will be all.
Basically in the HIP MV they are portraying roles that aren´t common in womens, for example: Moonbyul is playing a mv director or a CEO, Solar is like a rockstar with drag queens as her band, Wheein is playing an artist and shee is fighting for climate change, and Hwasa is a single mom. I think that's what they were going with the video, if you compare it with the lyrics of the song I hope this help, sorry for my english. You're not wrong about that similiar sound you heard at HIP. It's actually a free sample sound, there's no copyright. After they released HIP, Momoland released Thumbs Up which use the exact same sample. It didn't count as plagiarism of course...but some people (non Mamamoo fans) said Momoland copy Mamamoo which is not true. And the entire radish empire (Mamamoo fandom) and RBW (Mamamoo company) never complained about it.
Oh, that makes a lot more sense! Now that you mention it, I've heard similarities between songs from other artists as well, so they're probably all using samples. That's really interesting to know. Also, the fandom name is so cute! Why radish though? Is there a story behind it or just a cute name?
ha, i see others have talked about "gleam" being a cf and even the pun in it used to get the optical company's name into people's heads... making us sing it in the chorus... that's insidious. they've also done similar with another cf song, "everyday", for a brand of yogurt (bio). the company that owns that brand is maeil, which is also the word "everyday" in korean as for davichi optical, mamamoo has been spokesmodels for the company for several years now but usually just did photo shoots. they did go to rbw for audio for some commercials before "gleam" though and i'm sure they were quite surprised to see a whole song and mv come out when they really just wanted like a 16 second snippet for their commercials also, on the thinking hwasa was a solo artist... i mean, technically she is. all the members are. they're actually the only kpop group where all members are successful solo artists while still being active as a group (2ne1 was the first where all members also became successful solo artists but that was after they were forced to disband). even before mamamoo started doing their solo work, though, people (including jyp) said they seemed like four solo artists who just happened to form a supergroup together. except, unlike with supergroups, the girls never tried to compete, nobody tries to outshine anyone else, all four will step back and let whoever's turn it is to shine stand out. and they compliment each other so well, are such a cohesive unit despite being so drastically different individually... and they're fond of showing that off, their individual differences and their cohesiveness as a group

They all give off such a different vibe, but they seem to just have fun on stage, with each other as well as with the music! Even getting compliments from a competing company, that’s pretty cool! The only thing that makes it obvious that it's about glasses is that the camera and the girls make the glasses the focal point, but other than that, there's nothing to indicate that this isn't just a full-blown comeback video. It's absolutely brilliant! Imagine, some people don't like to have things sold to them. They come to Mamamoo to be entertained, so Mamamoo killed two birds with one stone. Genius!
By the way if you love Monsta X they actually have a song with Wheein from Mamamoo called Ex Girl. All Mamamoo members have solo work and collabs with other artists. They also do amazing covers separately and as a group together

also, even though their label started pretty much with mamamoo, rbw (rainbow bridge world) now has several active groups now, most of them boy groups. if you're interested in checking them out of course, we've got mamamoo, a quartet with amazing vocals but each member is able to do everything... that seems something rbw likes to do, find talented artists, hone those talents and expand them. all their artists learn not to just sing, rap and dance, but also write lyrics, compose music, design choreography, even produce music. and if they discover a talent for it or really enjoy doing it, they're encouraged to do it more the next group introduced by rbw is vromance, often considered the male mamamoo. they're also a vocally-focused quartet. some songs really worth checking out are "she" (with a special guest appearance in the mv) and "star" (with a very amazing and unique mv). also, like mamamoo, they're better when seen live. but it's harder to find live videos of them, sadly. they never caught on like mamamoo did. also, they're currently on hiatus as the members do their military service after that, the next two groups, literal brother groups, debuted last year. each of these groups actually has half of a pair of twins in them and they spent a lot of time training together (and showed up on a competition show as the rbw boys) first of these is oneus, who are more a typical boy group, lots of focus on dances, which they tend to make themselves. but they're also great singers, including the two rappers...one of whom is described as having an angelic singing voice while having a devilishly deep rapping voice there's also onewe, an actual band that plays instruments. they were high school friends that formed a band together, debuted under a different agency, things happened, they joined rbw and went back to becoming trainees, then changed their name and redebuted a few years later. it's hard for bands to get interest from the general kpop populace, but these guys are starting to. and it's well desrved the most recent group debuted is actually not korean at all, but vietnamese. a group called d1verse. i don't know too much about these guys because i've been terrible at trying to keep up with them. but def wanna let people know they're there there's also a group of female trainees currently called 365 practice (they have their own channel on rbw's youtube where they uploade dance and vocal practices and covers). they were quite likely intended to debut this year but a certain pandemic seems to have put a halt to that... similar to oneus, they seem to be going for a more standard kpop girl group setup than mamamoo, but that doesn't mean they're anywhere near slouches vocally

In kpop, they usually have teasers leading up to a comeback (next album release). And of the single. I will tell you mamamoo is the most unique kpop group there is. They sound more like a western r and b soul pop group rather than just a traditional kpop group. They are called vocal Queens of kpop. Literally no one in this generation can touch them vocally. They are just that good. Unlike most kpop groups or companies that focus on performance (choreography) and beauty. Mamamoo and their company RBW (Rainbow Bridge World) wanted them to focus on vocals above everything and having fun on stage. So with mamamoo you can't tell difference between studio and live. They sound good in all cases. They each can blow, and have a unique sound. And their music is so different. They each are versatile and can sing, rap, dance, or play some sort of instruments. Also in kpop, a member of a group may release a solo album, which mamamoo is currently doing, and has done. So in all they are an incredible group of ladies on and off stage. It's funny, another MooMoo said something to the effect of "Mamamoo is like for solo artist that work together," LOL. That's probably the best thing the company could have done, because the last thing they want is if one member left or the members want to venture into solo territory, but they're pigeon-holed in the group together. Not saying that would happen, but RBW set themselves and Mamamoo up for success. I thoroughly appreciate that they prioritized vocals and talent over just looking good.
I feel like the normal voice/commercial voice thing is a thing in pop in general, britney spears also does that. Mamamoo live, acapella shows how much of raw talent they are.

The Vocal Queens. They are the true testament of started from the bottom. They are a self made group. They had little to none resources starting out. Their company was and is small. And at the time of their beginning the company was new. In a way Mamamoo also help build their company. Both rbw and Mamamoo transitioned together. They worked their asses off and had every part into single handedly shaping who and what they are today. They set their own foundation unlike other groups and labels. You really need to react to the MAMA 2018 and 2019 Mamamoo performances! Also the performances they did on Queendom, a show where they competed against (and also performed with a few members of the other groups mentioned) G-Idle, AOA, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz and 2ne1's Park Bom). MAMAMOO's covered version and performance of AOA's 'Good Girl' was amazing and they blended out so many different styles so effectively for it.

Actually 'Gleam' is a song MAMAMOO did for eye glass commercial. I recommend listening to the other commercial songs that MAMAMOO did. My most fav among them was 'woo hoo'.

I remember watching their 11 mins immortal songs medley where they sings nonstop 11 mins beautifully and still maintain the stability of their voices leaving me breathless and give the stamp pf power vocal house to them. There is also a new yt vid that shows mmm in studio vs live to give us understanding at how great they are in this industry.
Also, reminder that Hwasa of mamamoo will have her solo comeback with mini album MARIA on June 29, 6pm. She released the highlight medley of her mini album yesterday in mamamoo youtube channel. It was amaziing I’m so glad I preorder it. I hope there will be reaction videos when the MV comes out later. Actually both wheein and hwasa are 25, just a few month apart. They are classmate since 15.
there was an actual "controversy" with hwasa when she didn't wear a bra to the airport last year I think and knetz obv didn't like it so that's what the "president hwasa dressed innapropriately at the airport" means and how throughout the song they say "it becomes a controversy, my fashion" and "I don't really care its just another action". basically saying to the haters they don't care what they say ab them

After that Hwasabae did a hip dance practice in a green shirt with no bra, along with their choreo team and it was AMAZING and perfectly Hwasa!
I can't judge, but I've seen it said that Hwasa isn't wearing a bra under the Spandex shirt in Hip, either. And I didn't know there was body language for "Kiss my ass," but I swear that's what Hwasa was saying with that hip twist.
A couple things to know about Mamamoo:
- they come from a small company, they were the first group of their company and built it to the success it is today. But they had very little money at the beginning and even were busking on the street to promote themselves
- all members are songwriters and write on their albums. Moonbyul is the 4th most credited female idol of all time. HIP was written by their CEO and Hwasa as a clapback against knetz who have criticized Mamamoo for wearing what they want (Hwasa in particular which is why she wrote that headline in the mv)
- Mamamoo’s fanbase in South Korea is unique because it’s largely majority female unlike most gg’s there. Mamamoo are incredibly popular with women in SK because they are breaking boundaries (doing/dressing how they like) and are seen as feminist icons
- they are known for their incredible vocals and live performances. They are one of the few idol groups that have won Immortal Songs multiple times. In SK they are really known for their vocal abilities

Mamamoo is that group. They are the vocal queens of kpop. Their whole career has been build on talent where musical critical praise them for their power vocals and control. Hell they don’t even know how to lip sync ( I mean it they done it twice and it became the joke of the fandom). Apart from that they create a lot of their own music. ( like hip is co written and co composed by hwasa) and have a lot of solo songs. Jyp (one of the biggest CEO in kpop) said mamamoo are like 4 solo artist.
I would highly recommend their songs: wind flower, starry night, yes I am, gogobebe and decalcomanie. ( tip watch it on their office channel, every MV has subs there)

One famous award show is the Blue Dragon (or something), it's called a dead crowd for idols, the actors and actress doesn't react. Mamamoo performed, with adlibs and the crowd responds well. So, they are the only group that was invited for the next year.
@@JazzyCheeks ha, little late, but what alondra was saying about the lip syncing was true... both times they lip synced it was at the request of the show they were on (kbs both times). the first time was because they were doing the show outdoors and didn't think any of the artists could outdo the nearby traffic, so asked all of them to lip sync. mamamoo and ailee both were super bad at it, so obvious neither were used to it (mamamoo performed their song "new york" for it if you ever want to see)
the second time was this past year, kbs asked them to lip sync because their sound system wasn't good enough for live vocals or something... and how crazy is that? a music show going 'our audio isn't good enough, so we'll just go with playback'
there's a performance of their song "no more drama" on pikicast where fans were shocked since we all thought 'wait, when did mamamoo get good at lip syncing?' then wheein flipped a page of the book she was holding super loudly and you could hear that.. that's when we were 'oooh, they are singing live, just the mics aren't easy to see. that makes so much more sense'
Mamamoo are known for their vocals. When they were rookies, they won ‘immortal songs’ 3 times against legendary singers and they’re the only gg to win. GLEAM is just a sunglasses ad which people mistaken it as a comeback. They’re known to be the most versatile gg since they did various concepts. I would like you to react to their IMMORTAL SONG MEDLEY so you would be able to see for yourself rather than being told that they’re basically the vocal queens of kpop.
They were trained to not just trust their looks because they were told their not “pretty enough” so that’s why they worked hard on their vocals. They basically worked their way up without any of the big companies help

Just to clarify this a bit...
It was their management that told that they weren't "pretty enough", but it wasn't a diss and they weren't trying to just be mean. When Mamamoo was first getting started, back when they were trainees, the majority of girl groups were basically singing supermodels and, let's be honest, the girls, at the time, were not supermodel material. The point that management was trying to make was that they would not be able to compete with the other groups when it comes to visuals so they would have to focus and work hard in other areas, such as their vocals and their performance skills.
As I said, they weren't trying to be mean, they were just being honest. When the members tell this story it's not a "Boo hoo, they were so mean to us" story. It's more of a "We're glad they were honest with us, which made us work harder on our singing and performing skills" thing.
i don't know if somebody already worte it but Gleam is not an actual release but it's a CF for glasses.
Yeah, I got the feeling it was some sort of advert for glasses, they kept playing with the glasses or pointing to them at some point in the video. I feel like Loona's solo mvs were more like something to introduce each member to the group, which was a cool concept they had, ngl, but Mamamoo's solo songs are actually them establishing themselves as solo artists. All 4 of them had their legit solo debuts already. Solar just debuted this year, Wheein had a comeback last year, Hwasa is _about_ to have a comeback in 3 days, and Moonbyul has had 2 this year, which is why I really like her line "I'm off to make my next album" in HIP. She literally released a solo mini album 3 months later😂.
This group is basically 4 soloists who work together under the name "Mamamoo"😅

They do have a lot of teasers for each music video usually. Hip was an extreme example as they had teasers for each member AND the bit or theme for that comeback. Which was alternate realities. 4 of them for each of the 4 members. As far as solo music we are entering the phase where the group is having more solo stages. As far as music videos for the solo songs that only goes back about 3 of the 6 years for the group.

There are enough comments about their vocal prowess, so I'll add this: another reason why people love Mamamoo so much is because of how genuine they are. Moonbyul doesn't like staying confined to gender expectations. (Her solo Eclipse sounds like what you'd expect from a boy group.) Hwasa decided to establish her own beauty standard after being told that she didn't meet current ones. (She's gorgeous.) This kinda stuff from them really struck me. Their confidence is what attracts a large amount of their female fans, actually. HIP was written with the intention of expressing that you should love yourself and live confidently without caring what other people think. They promote a lot of positivity. Their (chaotic) energy makes them a lot of fun to watch on shows, too. 😆
True, they were told they weren't pretty or tall/model-like like other girl groups (pffft), so they'd have to focus on their performance. And boy did they do that. They often change up their live performances to give something new, and they're EXCELLENT at hyping up a crowd. I really value stage performance and audience interaction, so they stole my heart really quickly. I hope you'll continue to enjoy their music. They dabble in a little bit of everything, and they pull it off really well. :)
EDIT: I changed my mind, I also want to comment on one thing with their vocals, esp Immortal Songs performances: LIVE HARMONIES ON POINT. That will be all.

Basically in the HIP MV they are portraying roles that aren´t common in womens, for example: Moonbyul is playing a mv director or a CEO, Solar is like a rockstar with drag queens as her band, Wheein is playing an artist and shee is fighting for climate change, and Hwasa is a single mom. I think that's what they were going with the video, if you compare it with the lyrics of the song

You're not wrong about that similiar sound you heard at HIP. It's actually a free sample sound, there's no copyright. After they released HIP, Momoland released Thumbs Up which use the exact same sample. It didn't count as plagiarism of course...but some people (non Mamamoo fans) said Momoland copy Mamamoo which is not true. And the entire radish empire (Mamamoo fandom) and RBW (Mamamoo company) never complained about it.
Oh, that makes a lot more sense! Now that you mention it, I've heard similarities between songs from other artists as well, so they're probably all using samples. That's really interesting to know. Also, the fandom name is so cute! Why radish though? Is there a story behind it or just a cute name?
ha, i see others have talked about "gleam" being a cf and even the pun in it used to get the optical company's name into people's heads... making us sing it in the chorus... that's insidious. they've also done similar with another cf song, "everyday", for a brand of yogurt (bio). the company that owns that brand is maeil, which is also the word "everyday" in korean
as for davichi optical, mamamoo has been spokesmodels for the company for several years now but usually just did photo shoots. they did go to rbw for audio for some commercials before "gleam" though and i'm sure they were quite surprised to see a whole song and mv come out when they really just wanted like a 16 second snippet for their commercials
also, on the thinking hwasa was a solo artist... i mean, technically she is. all the members are. they're actually the only kpop group where all members are successful solo artists while still being active as a group (2ne1 was the first where all members also became successful solo artists but that was after they were forced to disband). even before mamamoo started doing their solo work, though, people (including jyp) said they seemed like four solo artists who just happened to form a supergroup together. except, unlike with supergroups, the girls never tried to compete, nobody tries to outshine anyone else, all four will step back and let whoever's turn it is to shine stand out. and they compliment each other so well, are such a cohesive unit despite being so drastically different individually... and they're fond of showing that off, their individual differences and their cohesiveness as a group

Yes, I think I felt that when I saw the Immortal Songs video! They all give off such a different vibe, but they seem to just have fun on stage, with each other as well as with the music! also, even though their label started pretty much with mamamoo, rbw (rainbow bridge world) now has several active groups now, most of them boy groups. if you're interested in checking them out
of course, we've got mamamoo, a quartet with amazing vocals but each member is able to do everything... that seems something rbw likes to do, find talented artists, hone those talents and expand them. all their artists learn not to just sing, rap and dance, but also write lyrics, compose music, design choreography, even produce music. and if they discover a talent for it or really enjoy doing it, they're encouraged to do it more
the next group introduced by rbw is vromance, often considered the male mamamoo. they're also a vocally-focused quartet. some songs really worth checking out are "she" (with a special guest appearance in the mv) and "star" (with a very amazing and unique mv). also, like mamamoo, they're better when seen live. but it's harder to find live videos of them, sadly. they never caught on like mamamoo did. also, they're currently on hiatus as the members do their military service
after that, the next two groups, literal brother groups, debuted last year. each of these groups actually has half of a pair of twins in them and they spent a lot of time training together (and showed up on a competition show as the rbw boys)
first of these is oneus, who are more a typical boy group, lots of focus on dances, which they tend to make themselves. but they're also great singers, including the two rappers...one of whom is described as having an angelic singing voice while having a devilishly deep rapping voice
there's also onewe, an actual band that plays instruments. they were high school friends that formed a band together, debuted under a different agency, things happened, they joined rbw and went back to becoming trainees, then changed their name and redebuted a few years later. it's hard for bands to get interest from the general kpop populace, but these guys are starting to. and it's well desrved
the most recent group debuted is actually not korean at all, but vietnamese. a group called d1verse. i don't know too much about these guys because i've been terrible at trying to keep up with them. but def wanna let people know they're there
there's also a group of female trainees currently called 365 practice (they have their own channel on rbw's youtube where they uploade dance and vocal practices and covers). they were quite likely intended to debut this year but a certain pandemic seems to have put a halt to that... similar to oneus, they seem to be going for a more standard kpop girl group setup than mamamoo, but that doesn't mean they're anywhere near slouches vocally
If you want to hear their amazing live vocals/harmonies, I’d suggest any performance on Immortal Songs (or if you want you can just watch the 11 minute medley)

In kpop, they usually have teasers leading up to a comeback (next album release). And of the single. I will tell you mamamoo is the most unique kpop group there is. They sound more like a western r and b soul pop group rather than just a traditional kpop group. They are called vocal Queens of kpop. Literally no one in this generation can touch them vocally. They are just that good. Unlike most kpop groups or companies that focus on performance (choreography) and beauty. Mamamoo and their company RBW (Rainbow Bridge World) wanted them to focus on vocals above everything and having fun on stage. So with mamamoo you can't tell difference between studio and live. They sound good in all cases. They each can blow, and have a unique sound. And their music is so different. They each are versatile and can sing, rap, dance, or play some sort of instruments. Also in kpop, a member of a group may release a solo album, which mamamoo is currently doing, and has done. So in all they are an incredible group of ladies on and off stage. They are humble, and always promote positive messages. Sorry my comment went on a little long lol. #mamamoobias

It's funny, another MooMoo said something to the effect of "Mamamoo is like for solo artist that work together," LOL. That's probably the best thing the company could have done, because the last thing they want is if one member left or the members want to venture into solo territory, but they're pigeon-holed in the group together. Not saying that would happen, but RBW set themselves and Mamamoo up for success. I thoroughly appreciate that they prioritized vocals and talent over just looking good.
I feel like the normal voice/commercial voice thing is a thing in pop in general, britney spears also does that. Mamamoo live, acapella shows how much of raw talent they are.

The Vocal Queens. They are the true testament of started from the bottom. They are a self made group. They had little to none resources starting out. Their company was and is small. And at the time of their beginning the company was new. In a way Mamamoo also help build their company. Both rbw and Mamamoo transitioned together. They worked their asses off and had every part into single handedly shaping who and what they are today. They set their own foundation unlike other groups and labels. Rbw gave them free reign to do so as they please with their music and careers. And was a huge support in whatever they wanted to do and encouraged them to be themselves. They're all also success solo artist. All have charted on Worlds Digital Chart and all are best selling artist. Solar the leader was name 1st on the best selling album list along with Moonbyul the rapper. They are known for the vocals. I highly and i mean HIGHLY suggest you listen to their live performances. Start with their Immortal Songs 2 performances and their Immortal Songs 2 Melody

If you want retro/70s or 80s inspired stuff, you can check out their earlier releases like "Mr. Ambiguous" (their debut), "Piano Man", "Aah Oop!" or "You're the Best"
If you want a more modern, upbeat sounding bops, you can react to "Gogobebe" or "Egotistic" in which the latter is very Latin pop inspired. Title tracks that showcase vocal range for me is like "Starry Night" or "Decalcomanie". If you're into bubblegum, fun-ish type of songs you can check out Um Oh Ah Yeh or even Yes I Am.

You really need to react to the MAMA 2018 and 2019 Mamamoo performances! Also the performances they did on Queendom, a show where they competed against (and also performed with a few members of the other groups mentioned) G-Idle, AOA, Oh My Girl, Lovelyz and 2ne1's Park Bom). MAMAMOO's covered version and performance of AOA's 'Good Girl' was amazing and they blended out so many different styles so effectively for it.

Actually 'Gleam' is a song MAMAMOO did for eye glass commercial. I recommend listening to the other commercial songs that MAMAMOO did. My most fav among them was 'woo hoo'.

This song is actually kind of a subtle shade to their haters. Hwasa was once bashed by the netizens because she was spotted at the airport not wearing a bra.
