Sauna can help with skin problems
Contrary to what you might believe, it is known that sauna does not dry out the skin, but on the contrary improves the skin's permeability barrier so that the skin in the sauna does not dry out.
So far, there is no completely indisputable evidence that sauna can help with skin problems, but it seems that sauna are also good for the skin. For example, people with psoriasis have received help from the sauna for their skin problems.

You quite rightly spoke about dry air.
Especially indoors during the heating season it's useful to consider using humidifiers to keep humidity at your home at reasonable levels.
This isn't directly about skin care, but controlling indoor air humidity helps.
    Sometimes it's very helpful.

    So complicated....
But just as you said, people have individual needs and goals. I don't really bother with cosmetic goals.
I am an old man with dry old skin, which burns very easily. I also have already had one type of skin cancer operated not so long ago.
The last time I spoke with a dermatologist the advice for me was to use as much moisturizing basic lotions as possible without caring what it looks like.
He didn't speak about sun protection since he knew I already knew I better be careful. I have a hobby where I spend a lot of time outdoors in the sun.
I have started avoiding playing golf at times when the UV index is the highest during the day. I have started using head protection and cover myself with clothing in sunlight etc.
    Doing my best, kind of.

Grooming requirements are an interesting topic. I am an older person and have lived through many different decades of different fashions.
It is partly a question of your self image but also how you let others influence your looks. Looks are also a tool for some, even a professional tool.
Nowadays I don't need to care much about what others think and perhaps they can tell that from my careless grooming habits. If I would need to please someone, that would be a very different situation.

Extreme European weather conditions.. and skincare, and perhaps also haircare.
You didn't mention Finland specifically. But since you're living in Finland, I'll try to add Finland or something Finnish to this discussion. I hope you don't mind.
Sauna is a method that most people in Finland include to their skincare even though the other benefits are likely to be bigger motivations.
Sauna is used to open up your skin spores and to clean you thoroughly. It activates blood circulation in your skin probably adding to the wellbeing of the skin. It is kind of extreme weather situation even though indoors😊.

The subject of Sauna requires a whole new video dedicated to the mighty beautiful culture of Sauna.
