I watched a bunch of videos of how to do this. You are the first one I found that explains how the existing switch will function when one of these is installed. Thank you!

This should honestly be adopted as an official video. This is excellent. So much more clear than anything else I've seen!

Excellent video! Wired my first light switch today and it works! The directions that came with my Shelly 1 PM are completely inadequate and without your video I’d definitely be guessing where things go. Thanks again!

Thank you very much for spending the time to make this video. I made a screen shot at 4:10 into your presentation, took it to the outlet and wired it exactly as you suggested. Worked the first time!!

Thank you for the video; this is so much better than Shelly’s documentation

A few days ago I made a post of thanks for the video. After installing the Shelly 1pm to control a light switch using a motion detector triggering mechanism everything seemed to work. But now that the Shelly has been installed for a few days I noticed a problem. When I turn on the light manually it will only stay on only as long as the motion detector is detecting motion. This tells me the wiring, as described, is not quite correct if you want to be able to manually turn on the light and keep it on as long as you want. So, just a word of caution.

I don't know what the problem would be, I've had my 50+ Shelly's wired like I have shown for over a year with no problems. I have some on motion sensors and timers also.

I think it might be more in how the motion detector is communicating with the system.

I have a motion sensor in my pantry so I just tested it out. The light does in fact turn off once the motion sensor is triggered and no longers picks up motion. I still feel the shelly is wired correctly and is functioning as it should. Maybe you can get around the motion trigger with an ifttt program to keep the light on.

@@diyconnectedhome6102 Thank you for your replies. Regarding your pantry. If you manually turn the light on in your pantry will it stay on indefinitely or will it eventually go off?

@@scottjercich7223 Once the motion sensor no longer senses motion it does turn off.

Can you provide a diagram for a shelly 1 install for a light that's hardwired without a switch?

I'll get one made. Sorry it took so long to respond. We were hit with 2 hurricanes and it's just getting a little back to normal around here.

Until I can make a video, What I did was simply delete the switch and the 2 wires that went to the switch and it worked perfectly. I my case my light fixture box had a power wire going in and a power wire continuing on with wires to the light fixture. So the wiring looked just like the video minus the switch wires and switch.

Can you make a new video tuoturial wiring Shelly 1PM to receptical with diagram? Thanks.

Lol, this diagram could be a bit more clear. You know you can use straight lines and its not necessary to draw pictures of cables and connectors.
