Brah.......seriously? The Kobe swagger got ya'll blinded. The man averaged 25 for his career on 44% FG shooting. He's not top 5 for sure, you can make an argument for top 10, but many have better arguments. Wait so, you're putting him above Kareem? 6 Championships and 6 League MVPs? Above Bill Russell? 11 chips? Above Magic Johnson? He's a 6'9 PG, that dominated since his rookie year. Kobe was 13th pick in the draft, barely played his first season, while he kept the seat warm with the second unit, and averaged 7. Took him 3 seasons to hit 20 ppg.
Stop THIS! He's better than Lebron James? 4 Finals MVPs, 4 League MVPs, and won a chip in 3 different places with totally different teams everytime? He's clearly the formula that wins. He's 39, and he's playing with these young dudes like he's still in his 20s. Please STOP PRETENDING KOBE CAN DO THIS!
Kobe isn't better than Wilt, or Shaq. Those guys rank above him. I got Tim Duncan above him too. Timmy was a beast defensively and his presence in the game affected winning more than Kobe. He was also much more efficient. Could've won Finals MVP everytime. The true meaning of unselfish.
Kobe was a great talent, but please stop using your personal idolizations as fuel to force him the top 5. He's not there. He'll never be there. Truth be told he'll be pushed out of the top 10 eventually. Some players in this era are going to do great things. If Steph wins another chip, I'll take him over Kobe.
      This is nonsense.

How can anyone compare Kobe to big men like Shaq. Who has more rimgs than. Duncan same amount of rings. C'mon man Duncan's MVP in '03 could have easily went to Kobe "popularity contest" At the time the whole league hated kobe and Shaq. And thre of Kareem's rimgs Magic was the best player. Even if you gave Kobe Mj’s athleticism Mj would be better. He took smarter shots wasn’t as much of a ball hog and was more efficient overall. To add to Gilbert Arenas's point about how Kobe had a normal body, which elevates him in a lot of players' minds. I just want to say that I can only think of two basketball players that really captures the imagination of kids on the basketball court. In the Jordan's time, kids actually sang the Gatorade jingle, "I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be like Mike!" And they would imitate Jordan's moves, they would drive to the rim with their tongues sticking out.
And then when Kobe came along, kids (and adults) mirrored their games to Kobe. We practiced the turn-around jumper from the free throw line, like Kobe. We did the multiple pump fakes like Kobe, we dribbled like Kobe, between the legs, around the back. We would shoot the three and shout out, "Kobe!"
Nobody shoots the ball and shouts, "Lebron!" Nobody. That's one huge difference between Kobe and Lebron. When we watched Kobe, we dreamed that we could be like Kobe. But when we look at Lebron, we think, "that guy won the God sweepstakes, we can never be like him."

Thank you fellas 👏🏽. I’m from Northern Cali, a die hard Warriors fan who came up watching Michael Jordan in the late 80’s and 90’s. We had Sprewell who was my guy but as a team we were pretty terrible. Steph has gotten up 4 rings and worked hard to obtain all the accolades he has. In the late 90’s i use to hate Kobe. I was like who the hell is this arrogant lil dude think he is? I bet the Kings and blazers would beat them 3 years in a row. I got tired of losing my damn money lol. Watching Kobe’s skillset and desire to rip the opposing teams heart out made me respect him immensely. The respect turned to admiration and then adoration. I have him as the 2nd greatest basketball player of all time and i cant stand this narrative that pundits keep pushing trying to discredit Kobe. We seen with our eyes why he deserves to be #2. I also take Michael Jordan at his word that the only player that could beat him in a 1 on 1 game would be Kobe Bean Bryant. He achieved a lot and i beloeve had he not torn his achilles against us in 2012,2013 the way he was on a tear the last 20 games to cet his team in the playoffs he might have did the impossible that year cause he was that impressively dominant. Rest in peace and thank you for turning me from a hater to a believer. 🐐

Man Arenas speaks facts. For 25 years my friend and I were Kobe obsessed. He was our guy here in LA. But we always noticed his small hands, the fact that he can barely palm the ball. His vertical wasn’t that high, his speed wasn’t that fast. But his work ethic and his will, his WILL to want to beat you was what made him so great.
While he was working out in the gym 15 hours a day cause he had to, MJ would show up to the gym earlier then everyone else cause he was more competitive then everyone else. Otherwise he was out socializing, smoking cigars and hanging out with players off the court. Kobe didn’t care for that because he had to work on his lack of God given athletic ability.
And the fact that he still won 5 rings with his athletic deficiencies is remarkable.
Thank you Gil for pointing this out.

"Kobe is a normal humans fighting gods". Well said. He did this through insane dedication to his game. The fact that he can do all these without superior "natural talents", implies he is one of the, if not, the most skilled player ever. The only downside is he is not willing to trust his teammates most of the time. Took matters into his own hands which compromised his stats. If we made Kobe and Lebron take the exact same shots throughout their career including those insane fadeaways, Lebron fg% will be way lower than Kobe's.

    • @cellgeist6889
      @cellgeist6889 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Just like in 2015 finals when LeBron took 25+ shots, his FG% was atrocious. People think volume shooting is easy to do. It seems easy because Kobe made it look easy. Difference between 45% and 50% is 1 shot. So, LeBron basically averaged 1 more made shot while attempting more than Kobe. Also, LeBron outside of 5ft, he shoots lower %s than Kobe. I'm not even going to dig deeper. Kobe is a better player than LeBron.

Kobe wasn't as athletically gifted as the freaks of nature mentioned but he was still easily one of the best athletes in the league.
To be fair, He was considered a high flyer and had an above average first step. Wasn't the quickest or the fastest but fast and quick enough.
I think when you consider his 'God given' abilities he was definitely above average with baseline athleticism.
The amazing thing about him was there were some players more athletic than him or just as athletic but could never reach his level of greatness because he saw the journey as the dream and not the destination as the dream; he worked tirelessly to be the best version of himself and this mindset can be transferred to any endeavor, not just sports.
    RIP Kobe.

I know lists are necessary for media content and can be fun to talk about sometimes, but I believe our players and the game overall would be more appreciated if more fans and media personalities would just talk about the greatness instead of tryna rank the greatness. I notice in player-ran media they rarely do rankings and lists. The players tend to praise other players as individuals, not in pairs/groups (Jordan vs Lebron, Top 5 of all time, etc.).
