I think sophie helping the witch says a lot about her character and personality! I don't think it has anything to do with logic, she still didn't trust her nor really like her, but she helped the witch because that's the way she is; not necessarily forgiving, but she does the right thing even when she's been wronged (I think I really relate to that). anyways, this is such a beautiful piece!!

Howl's Moving Castle is one of my favorite Ghibli's movie, because of the vibe and history. As a Brazilian who is in love with art and stuff, im very happy 'cause i found the Ghibli movies in my country. it's difficult to find some good animation movies here, that's why i dont have many friends to talk about this magical movie. me too, i cried a lot while watching howls moving castle or while watching movies like this or sometimes when reading novels, but people often mock me for such of my actions and it's really heartbreaking and demotivates me😭

I first found this film as a child. All I could remember was the opening scene where you see the castle moving about the hills and valleys. Years later I rediscovered it and went down a Ghibli rabbit hole. I have a minimalist tattoo of the outline of the castle on my arm and I love it so much. I love having a piece of a film that makes me so happy on my body forever hehe. Thank you for this lovely video, I feel inspired to paint now!
This scene is totally my favourite, but I think my favourite line is when he drops her gently on the balcony and says "That's my girl!" It took me a long time (and many rewatches) to realise that this whole thing was a connection to her finding him in the past and telling him to find her in the future. This movie is one of my favourites to put on in the background when im doing things, because it's just such an iconic and beautiful movie to watch. It's one of my go to movies these days, especially when it was put on the Canadian netflix, I have it on my computer too but sometimes you just want to lay in bed and scroll on your phone or read a book and that's when i put these movies on. My other favourite part is when Sophie meets Calcifer and he introduces himself as a very power fire demon. I just love the way the introduction went.
This movie is beautiful. The characters, the story line, the animation and the music. My favorite part of the movie is when he took her to the flower field cottage where they first met, and she was getting younger. That scene was truly breathtaking.
I have never made the connection between Sophie telling Howl to find her in the future and Howl saying "sorry I'm late". When you pointed that out I legit started tearing up that's so perfect.

I love books and I read so much more than I watch movies, but I went on holidays with my family and others. One night while all other children were at an apartment watching a movie, I stayed back with my mum and we watched it. It was magical, although my mum thought it was silly and wanted to have the voices in English without subtitles. I cry very easily and I was balling my eyes out, not in this exact scene but some more heart touching scenes, like near the end or the flower field scene. I’m only in my early teens and studio gibli movies or my favorite movies ever.

My favorite part of the movie is when Sophie is heading out to meet with Madam Suliman. Howl assures her not to worry and that he'll follow close behind "in disguise." Sophie is trying to figure out what he could've disguised himself as when she looks up and sees a guy whiz by on some kind of flying machine, surrounded by loads of women giggling. She goes, "that could be him," with an unimpressed face. This scene always makes me laugh 😂
My mom was really into ghibli films when I was born and this was the first movie/film she made me watch, she said I would always smile when Howl was on the screen. Howl has been my crush since I was born. I was born a few months before it had just came out

To answer the question on Sophie helping the witch ( as an adult). It shows her inherent goodness. With Calcifer and the kid she's strong kind but doesn't let them get away with anything. With the witch she,as she is , as the old woman can empathize. The witch was once young and beautiful and powerful . Thought she could have anything she wanted . Thought herself in love. She lost the beauty.. the power made her corrupt but eventually she is pitiable.. and Sophie sees a snippet of who she could have been and a snippet of Sophie herself. It's easy to get lost in jealousy or spite .. it's hard to be the stronger person . Sophie is the ideal the bigger person the kinder heart.. the change that we all hope to see in the world but so rarely do. It isn't about logic.. the painting is amazing
Studio Ghibli's movies are all amazing. It is so nostalgic that it brings me back during the days I was depressed and would watch them. And it keeps raining every time I was depressed making me feel so cold and happy.
My favorite scene will forever be right after Howl lands Sophie on the balcony and tells her to stay put for a while. He says; "That's my girl," right before he jumps off the roof. And that always kills me. I love it so much!
god if i ever get married i want it to be as magical as this movie makes me feel. just dancing with my partner, whomever they may be, under the stars and feeling as if we’re the only two people in the entire world. moonbeams turning into a spotlight illuminating our love. that sounds utterly spectacular.
Mon préféré moment de ce film, c'est quand Sophie est dans le tunnel interminable avec toutes ces décorations... C'est juste magnifique à mes yeux. Et aussi quand Sophie découvre le jardin secret de Hauru, puis quand il mange le coeur de Lucifer, ça m'a fait des frissons dans le dos d'émerveillement. My first ever ghiblie movie was spirited away I think I was 17 at that time. Out of all ghiblie movies I fell in love with howls moving castle and spirited away. During the first wave of the pandemic I watched these two movies every day all day and I'm still not tired of them and now in the second wave I'm gonna watch them again 😭 I don't have a favourite part in howls moving castle cuz I love all of it 😅 and every single ghiblie movie they're masterpieces. Howl's Moving Castle was my first Ghibli film and I don't even know how many times I've watched it, but it makes me so emotional every time. I think it's wonderful how Sophie tells Howl and Calcifer to find her in the future and then immediately after stepping back out of the door, Howl is there waiting for her -- but I never realized that the first thing he ever said to her, "there you are, I've been looking everywhere for you," is already a continuation of that!

I love this movie and i am not japanese but there's just something about studio ghibli creations that they r so simple yet so elegent and its amazing how studio ghibli makes such simple stories look so elegent and makes every little scene soo elegent and so joyous and so meaningfull and i cry alot when i watch their movies and its so phenomenol and is such a unique talent to make something soo simple look and feel very meaningfull and to turn that simple story into something that touches the heart and soul deeply and softly . To answer the question on Sophie helping the witch ( as an adult). It shows her inherent goodness. With Calcifer and the kid she's strong kind but doesn't let them get away with anything. With the witch she,as she is , as the old woman can empathize. The witch was once young and beautiful and powerful . Thought she could have anything she wanted . Thought herself in love. She lost the beauty.. the power made her corrupt but eventually she is pitiable.. and Sophie sees a snippet of who she could have been and a snippet of Sophie herself. It's easy to get lost in jealousy or spite .. it's hard to be the stronger person . Sophie is the ideal the bigger person the kinder heart.. the change that we all hope to see in the world but so rarely do. It isn't about logic.. the painting is amazing

Studio Ghibli's movies are all amazing. It is so nostalgic that it brings me back during the days I was depressed and would watch them. And it keeps raining every time I was depressed making me feel so cold and happy.

My favorite scene will forever be right after Howl lands Sophie on the balcony and tells her to stay put for a while.
He says; "That's my girl," right before he jumps off the roof. And that always kills me. I love it so much!
god if i ever get married i want it to be as magical as this movie makes me feel. just dancing with my partner, whomever they may be, under the stars and feeling as if we’re the only two people in the entire world. moonbeams turning into a spotlight illuminating our love. that sounds utterly spectacular.

Mon préféré moment de ce film, c'est quand Sophie est dans le tunnel interminable avec toutes ces décorations... C'est juste magnifique à mes yeux. Et aussi quand Sophie découvre le jardin secret de Hauru, puis quand il mange le coeur de Lucifer, ça m'a fait des frissons dans le dos d'émerveillement. Les héros de ce film sont si puissants dans leurs émotions que j'en ai pleuré (de joie et de tristesse). La musique est tellement puissante aussi. Magnifique.

My first ever ghiblie movie was spirited away I think I was 17 at that time. Out of all ghiblie movies I fell in love with howls moving castle and spirited away. During the first wave of the pandemic I watched these two movies every day all day and I'm still not tired of them and now in the second wave I'm gonna watch them again 😭 I don't have a favourite part in howls moving castle cuz I love all of it 😅 and every single ghiblie movie they're masterpieces. No matter how many times I watch them it always makes me smile and cry

Sophie helps the witch because Mishasaki always shows that there’s bad and good things in everything and Sophie definitely is not a resentful person but a very kind one and could see she wasn’t entirely bad

This is so beautiful!! I feel like your style really captures the whimsical feeling of the music and the movie as a whole, which is really lovely! Howl's Moving Castle was my first Ghibli film and I don't even know how many times I've watched it, but it makes me so emotional every time. I think it's wonderful how Sophie tells Howl and Calcifer to find her in the future and then immediately after stepping back out of the door, Howl is there waiting for her -- but I never realized that the first thing he ever said to her, "there you are, I've been looking everywhere for you," is already a continuation of that!
My second favourite scene was when the witch (as a grandma) kept hitting on calicifer😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 it was so funny.

I love this movie and i am not japanese but there's just something about studio ghibli creations that they r so simple yet so elegent and its amazing how studio ghibli makes such simple stories look so elegent and makes every little scene soo elegent and so joyous and so meaningfull and i cry alot when i watch their movies and its so phenomenol and is such a unique talent to make something soo simple look and feel very meaningfull and to turn that simple story into something that touches the heart and soul deeply and softly . Im so happy that i discovered studio ghibli bcz i learned to enjoy every little moment of my life and to live it and to be gratefull for everything
