Play along with your favourite songs or while you watch tv (not recommend but anything to make sure you have a guitar in your hands). As long as you enjoy what you are doing, you are going to want to do it more and you will improve much quicker.

3 hours to 1 year depending on your skill level
I’d say it took me personally about a year to do something like this, and another few months to actually add feel and be comfortable playing it
